I googled it and apparently Lagan means "goods or wreckage lying on the bed of the sea" so there is kinda a connection
and that's not ominous at all
EDIT: looking further, it has an additional context of having a buoy attached so slightly more positive than flotsam or jetsam

Well, that shows me. Not sure if it's all that positive considering the last few appearances Tessa had, though. Things ain't looking too good for the girl.
It's possible that the chapter could see an upturn for her. Or even a lateral shift. Cagle has this habit of not doing the horrible things that you can see coming, or at least not in the obvious way.
