I've been pondering something for a while now and I think tonight I got an idea that might help explain things a bit.

I've long thought (and even made a WMG about) that there's something about Undine that sets her apart from the typical Magical Girl, something that might prompt the Purple One to hate her, assuming she just doesn't hate Magical Girls in general.

There are a couple things. She's in the rare, not not unheard of position of having seen the Girl on the Dream more than once. Said Girl has also personally intervened on her behalf, as has the golden cast, assuming they aren't one and the same. What always struck me, though, is that, of the Magical Girl Training Club, Undine was the only one to view her Dream in a positive light.

wild mass guessI'm beginning to wonder now if an encounter of some kind with the Purple One, or at least a discussion of her, is a part of every Dream. Whether they remember it or not, every girl gets a low down on her. Most find her disturbing, like Kokoro did in response to the phone call, and it colors their impression of their Dreams. If this is so, then Undine did something different. Something that ended things on a more positive note for Undine and/or enraged the Purple One to the point of personal vendettawild mass guess

It could be as simple as Goops McGee wanting the dream girl to be isolated and unknown, cut off from support or positive contact.

Zoe strongly resembles her sister, they even have the same magical girl color. Must make it real hard to not have people see her through the lens of viewing her sister.

I wonder if that's influenced by Zoe wanting to be like her sister as much as she did.

Interesting. The dream, I mean. I wonder what the significance of it is.

wild mass guess

We were all trapped -> he's trapped in his own body, immobile

Everyone was yelling -> the screamy mouths within him, and/or he was vaguely aware of everyone panicking around him

Couldn't tell what anyone was saying -> he could hear the others but not understand them

I was referring more to the overall story. Like, if it has any significance to the monsters or Gloop's plans or anything like that.

Ok I was just browsing the discord and Word of God is all the monster designs are based on phobias, with mouthburger being based on "agoraphobia, specifically crowds".

Makes sense. The one that killed the Alchemicals was definitely heights, and the eyeballs could be a fear of being watched.

I almost wonder if that's the significance of Alex's dream. That sounds like the kind of nightmare an agoraphobic might have.

Do you suppose the monsters care what kind of a phobia their victims have?

...

Come to think of it, what would the monster that killed HP's mom be?

Well it was an ice monster, and it killed someone by trapping them under the ice... but I don't know what that phobia would be.

Given the way it looked like it had a runny nose and how it made everyone cold, maybe it was a phobia of getting sick (Nosophobia).

...so, a telepath, and the girl being chased by a psychic demon, who a week or two ago watched three of her four best friends die in a fraction of a second.

This should end well.

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.

That was my reaction, mostly because the setup reminded me of the opening scene of Serenity, where a character was You Have Failed Me'd for putting his ranking government officials (and their secrets) in the same room with a psychic.

So I was rereading bits and pieces and I somehow haven't noticed that last panel before.

I'm betting it's Zoe, but were there any other thoughts on the matter?

I don't think so, I saw that recently too and the outfit looked red. I can't imagine Zoe having a red outfit, given the recent reveals with HP and how MG color schemes are usually complementary.

It looks more orange to me, but the lighting really doesn't do any favors to trying to figure it out.

The color scheme thing is a good point though, so we're down to a mystery MG interested in HP, Undine, or both.

Cassidy is the most likely person to both fit the colors and have been close by, among our known magical girls.
