It's interesting that she sees the others being bright and grateful at being released. Like they don't flip to holding her in contempt, they're like, "Oh, hey, thanks!"
Intrigue
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGirl in white seems very disappointed in her.
I can't imagine that it can be that rare for a tween girl to desperately wish to be one of the famous, colorful, revered superheroes of her city, especially when all her friends already got powers.
So maybe this disappointment is what the Girl feels for most kids. We know the fact that Undine remembering her Dream as a pleasant experience is rare, so maybe her selfless willingness to accept power without wanting it is why. Maybe most girls get a brutal field trip through the deep flaws they'll need to deal with to be magical girls.
If nothing else, it's not hard to imagine Cassidy had a similar talk with the Girl in White that Tessa seems to be having.
I'm honestly confused. Is this a Flashback to her original dream, or is the Girl in White stepping in/trying to intervene here...?
This is most likely supposed to be a flashback, since Goops said that she'd show Tessa "a memory that should have been yours."
It could be distorted, though.
I guess I'm just having trouble telling since that line feels like it could apply to her current circumstances as well. (Though Tessa seemed to view coming out to meet Goops as more of a Heroic Sacrifice than a Deal with the Devil...)
I think it's Goops distorting her memories.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die.""Her" is still in the character tags, yes, so having Goops mess with the memory is not an unreasonable assumption. I don't think it's the case, though. My guess is that whoever this is is genuinely weary of sending tweens into danger.

And we finally see her face. With this I'm actually starting to believe this might be her actual Dream, and it paints a pretty pitiful picture of Tessa. Though, Tessa getting her powers last and ending up the strongest of the team does give off the implication that to an extent the characters can decide their own powers. Or perhaps she just gives them in accordance to how well it satisfies their mental state?
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysThe interesting thing is that she was immediately upset by her friends bearing her palanquin. Maybe that was a subconscious thing that she didn't like once the dream revealed it to her?

...Well, shit, now I can't unsee it.
The collar is the problem, I think. It practically looks like a tanline. Some more definition there, to make it clear it's actual clothing, would help.
I actually noticed it more from the sleeves, myself.
Ever since someone pointed out that Goop's horror show is still in the background between the panels, I've become increasingly wary of what I'm seeing. At first I thought it was just Goop's deception, then I started think that perhaps this actually her Dream. Now with this update I realized it would probably be both? While it makes sense for Tessa to be unusual seeing as how she was the strongest of the team and there's a lot the woman in white is unable to do, it does feel very suspicious that her explanation for Tessa is "you were just too special". It feels like the kind of explanation that would satisfy a child who feels left out.
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysI think the Dream is legitimate. So far it looks like shad some overpowered potential, WIW didn't want to empower her because that would make her a target for Goops, but at the same time WIW is didn't want to make her break up with her friend circle.
The way I understood it this is her actual dream that she had. Goops' influence is breaking the amnesia filter, which in Tessa's original memories of the dream seems to have kicsed in at the point where she asks "Are you..." and she pinches the bridge of her nose. Notice the faint white lines, almost like a start of the static effect.

I'm pretty wary mostly, it just feels a bit convenient
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysI think it's an additional filter on top of the one Goops broke through, one that Tessa had even in the original Dream. You'll note that she has the static eyes when she says "You're the one who chooses the magical girls." My guess is that Tessa should have recognized Golden Girl (maybe from a picture of the Founder or someone else super important), but the memory filter was still working even then.
Obviously we'll get a more firm answer in the next update, but right now it looks to me like Golden Girl didn't want to choose Tessa due to her personality. Not that she's terrible, just that she has enough issues that she's really not a first choice. But between her power potential and all her friends being chosen, it was kinda like "well, I'm out of excuses."
Even if "you're too powerful" isn't the full reason, it still could be what she said in the moment, after all.
One possibility is it takes longer for the most potentially powerful to be given powers. At in it takes longer to get them the power they need to become a magical girl vs someone who might be baseline weaker
There's definitly some sort of mixed superiority/inferiority compex going on there. But what exactly it is is not yet definable.
