I kinda thought that he still wasn't good enough for Ouroboros, but he was "close enough" to not immediately be eaten by worms.

What's wrong with keeping it in the 1990s?

If they go the 7 route then nothing. But if they want to keep using classic characters in major roles then we will have a situation where we have 50-something Leon is still dancing around with 50-something Ada whilst needing to fight hordes of whatever virus is around.

Or to put it another way you'll have to either retire the 1-3 main cast or relegate them to side games.

Man, as a chicken shit this game is such an adrenaline rush. Especially the beginning, although I'm not really sure if I'm actually ok with the Zombies soaking so much damage for sake of horror.

Gotta turn in my gaming card, it took me over 14 hours to beat Leon's A scenario.

Was it ever explained why Claire has a gun at the start of the game?

Even if Claire's main appeal is being the everyday girl or whatever it's supposed to be now, why wouldn't she carry a gun? It's not that unusual for someone to carry firearms as controversial as it is.

Her owning a gun isn't something surprised. I'm sure Chris ran her through a gun safety course before he joined the military and she decided to buy one when she could.

I'm just asking since the original game didn't give her one until she found a gun in the cop car.

Since Leon isn't coming into town in a cop car he wouldn't be able to know that there was one in the glovebox, plus I would hope the RCPD would be smart enough to not leave a loaded gun in the glovebox of a car.

Well, they did still enter town in a Cop car actually. In both versions, he arrives in a jeep, but ultimately jumps in a cop car with Claire and bolts...too bad it's in the wrong direction.

So I just started thinking: the remake seems to imply that knowledge of the zombies still hadn't spread very far.

That one cop in the convenience store was trying to grapple one, which means not all cops were in the city trying to fight the horde like the opening of Resident Evil 3 implied.

It seems like a minor thing, but it is something I noticed as I assumed the entirety of the racoon PD (that weren't the former Stars members) made a Last Stand against the Zombie Apocalypse and lost hard.

On the subject of how Ada dresses; a reasonable in-universe explanation could be that she was caught off-guard, the same way everyone else was.

Ada's original mission plan probably didn't account for the outbreak, and more than likely involved "traditional" spy methods. Gathering information, schmoozing up to the right people, and greasing the right palms. She probably meant to get close to people who could help her get inside the lab, or gather the information for her, and infiltrate the lab as a "visitor" or something.

Basically, she's dressed for socialising because that would've been the best way to get what she wanted, up until the zombies hit

Fair, but that still doesn't explain why she continues to wear heels while complaining about her leg hurting her.

Where exactly is she going to get new shoes from?

I mean, if you're saying she should just take them off, I'm sure there was a whole bunch of shit on the ground (like glass or whatever) that would have made taking off her shoes an even worse choice...

Or at least that's my justification.

RE: The cop at the gas station, based on the uniform I'm pretty sure he wasn't with the RPD; probably a state trooper or local sheriff.

Yeah, the gas station is quite a ways away from the city itself.

What happens to Wesker when he's exposed to Uroboros is exactly what is described as the proper reaction in a file in the game.

I don't think it was ever stated you'd look completely normal if you successfully bonded with Uroboros - just that it wouldn't eat you from the inside and use you as fuel.

Considering Wesker doesn't turn into a mindless, writhing mass of tentacles, that's definively a success. Well, apart from the obligatory weakspot on the chest you have to shoot.

The rocket launcher also didn't help.

Ada's a bit of a snobby chick who's story has gotten increasingly stagnant but I'm pretty sure she's not too bothered about losing a high heel toa hunter.

As for all the other topics I read above, well everyone probably already answered them for me but I figure original Claire probably only had the knife because she didn't expect Raccoon City to be one big zombie jamboree. Rough neighborhood where a knife comes in handy, yes, but a Zombie Land Saga? Its a good thing that Browning was in the glovebox when it was. And a good thing Remake Claire thought to have a gun first thing, even if a piddly little snubnose is no match for a Browning Hi-Power.

Also I'm a tad bit opposed to re-setting the RE games in 19XX or 20XX times as that kinda encroaches on Mega Man territory and that's just gonna make me want Zero as DLC for RE 2's Ghost Survivor/Extreme Battle mode. And he'd be massively fucking OP I swear.

Yeah, the gas station is quite a ways away from the city itself.

Damn. Hope that Nuke had a wide reach...or that they at least sent some dudes with body armour out to clear out the areas the nuke might have missed.

It really is a miracle that the infestation never spread beyond Racoon City...though it didn't stop further outbreaks either.

[up]Yeah, the primary virus in each of the older games is some Tyrant strain, though there is at least one other virus/biological agent in play for each of them since the Remake added Lisa.

[up][up][up] @Rob: I'd say its about numbers and word travelling fast. The Raccoon city incident was big shit and probably hit the news the moment it happened. Couple with there not being too many zombies at the petrol station compared to the city itself and not much civilized land for miles in the opposite direction from Raccoon probably meant that they were easy to corral and/or kill off.

And if I remember correctly, Wesker was the one that had Rockfort Island hit with the viral outbreak, something that Alfred Ashford blamed Claire for.
