Persona 5 (Actual Anime show)

Hmm Episode 2 was uh quite a mxied bag.

The pacing for the first half was weird but the second half was better and I was glad to finally have Morgana enter the show, as he's one of my faves. But I feel the need to drive home what I'm sure EVERYBODY noticed and was majorly disappointed by: the freakin animation during Ryuji's big moment

what happened during that action scene.

Holy crap somebody might have just lost their job. That was just sad. Captain Kidd...I was so hyped, then I saw him and I was like"oohhhh ohhh no...um oh lol" and then Zorro's laughable magula...the weird cgi and that absolutely horrendous cut-in to the all out attack and LAUGHABLE splash with Joker...ohhhhh man just WHAT. The weird thing is that scene was so jarringly lower quality than most of the episode that it almost felt like they outsourced it to some amateurs. If anything is getting a blue-ray treatment, you know that's going to be number 1. I can imagine the show's rating dropping noticeably due to that one scene because while I liked the episode overall, that was just insulting. I feel whoever animated that segment needs to pull a Madarame and publicly apologize, tears and all.

The ending credits were kind of nice and the opening wasn't too bad. But they really need to step it up on the Persona sequences and vow to never have a repeat of today's travesty.

Like just compare it to the game and OMG the difference is night and day.

Also I gotta say I wish they made Ren a bit more exciting. I feel he's too low key and bland so far though he's much better as Joker.

You know this episode is going to spawn a crapton of memes lol.

I agree with you on every freaking word (thank you Shirobako for teaching me about how the anime process works). I still think most of A-1 Pictures' focus went to DARLING in the FRANXX, which was a collab with Studio Trigger that looks MASSIVELY better.

They better not screw up the next episode or I'm dropping out. Also, I think they might be going on the Gorotrain, with how many times Goro cameos for no reason.

I never expected a genuine masterpiece when it comes to a video game adaptation (Although Uma Musume is an exception). I like the camp factor. It's very nostalgic and it reminds me of my youth.

Wait they animated Kidd with bad animation & CG?

Shit man, he's one of my favorite Persona's.

That fucking sucks.

On another note, man does Ren's voice deepen when he goes Phantom Theif mode. He truly is the King of Britania.

I do admit that Ryuji's awakening and Kid's appearance lacked the same HELL YEAH feeling that the game did. It also lacked the same sense that he looked like he was in real agony when it happened. In the game he was just writhing in pain as Kidd manifested. It's a shame too, since he, Ren, and Makoto probably have the best ones to me, just for that aforementioned HELL YEAH factor.

I also hope that the next one, and the ones that follow

I know how unrealistic it is, but it really would have been nice having the anime for Persona 5 be 50 episodes. It would really benefit from it I think, especially if they did some slight tweaking in terms of presentation and story.

Yeah, that would be pretty boss. Unfortunately, we live in a flawed reality.

Video game adaptations will never be given that much budget, because they more often than not just serve as advertisement for the game.

And man, Captain Kidd looks bad, especially when you compare to Arsene.

From what I have seen from the manga, it seems pretty good. It does seem a bit rushed here and there, though. And yeah, for those who do have the money to buy it, just get the game. I know that it can take months to get through if you are busy, but it is better to experience it that way.

Darling looks better because Trigger is animating it. Honestly, it'd probably be better if A-1 Pictures wasn't involved in that.

I knew I was right to worry when I found out A-1 Pictures is animating it.

Why did Atlus choose A1 to handle the animes?

People didn't like it much when AIC did P4, notably the final few episodes were HORRID in quality which really ruined the fact that they were the ones most needed of it.

A1 probably had the best bid, price-wise.

They do do well.

Remember how Fullmetal Alchemist the 2003 version diverged its storyline which evolved into a fantastic seperate storyline that held on its own? I wish that they did that in video game adaptions (or just adaptions in general) like tying the Confidants to the story with different storylines or a different way on how they approached character introductions and fights.

But nope! A-1 Pictures thinks that the only diversion is more Akechi, that's it and making it all fast and less cool

I wouldn't call it fantastic, but to each their own I guess. So far everything has been serviceable and I like some of the additions, just wish it flowed better.

I can kind of see where some people are coming from in terms of the pacing, but to me it feels like it's not as bad simply because ingame you're going through day by day. The anime will obviously cut some things to make things work in the amount of episodes they have. I'm not really seeing the animation complaints either, aside from the all out attack scene being a bit weird.

It kind of feels like people are actively looking for reasons to hate the anime, no matter how small they might be.

I mean, I don't really think the Anime is bad, but like...just play the game lol.

And Episode 2 had some undeniably poor bouts of Animation.

I actually prefer FMA 2003 over its manga/brotherhood counterpart. Yes I'm one of those people.

And yeah I recommend the game over the anime. The game is probably one of the best JRP Gs ever. and its artistry and style is off the charts, something the anime utterly fails to capture as seen in episode 2.

The anime is best if you've already played the game and don't have another 110 hours to spare to replay it.

Then either skip cut-scenes, replay save points, or just watch walkthroughs on You Tube.

So in case anyone was wondering, they keep the part about about the rape.

Some different things here: Looks like Ren told Ryuji about Igor here. He's also starting the trend of telling the bonehead to keep his voice down. No code names yet. Akechi sees and overhears the two of them at the train station.
