Poor comparisons. Vegeta is a weird case because death is cheap in Dragon Ball and nothing he does really has any real consequences while everyone in the FMA example were pawns in a massive world-ending conspiracy.
Akechi directly killed several innocent people completely of his own volition and does nothing to deserve redemption. The only thing separating him and Adachi is a mildly tragic backstory.

This song needs more love. What if it's something like "Shido killed Dojima's wife"? I'm thinking the Akechi stuff will be saved for a Persona 5 Crimson.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. There were plenty of people Vegeta has killed and haven't come back, like those Namekians. IIRC, he even laugh about it.
Akechi can be redeemed, but they'll have to play it carefully. One of the biggest problem (I had) in the game is that Akechi himself didn't seem to care about the casualties of actions or the fallout of helping Shido. Showing him more as a broken mess or in over his head might help.
Yeah but that's only because they didn't fall under the "Bring back everyone killed by Frieza and his men" wish. They easily could all come back if someone thought to wish for it.
I don't think that would be enough, personally. Actually that might make it worse because if it shows that he's conflicted about it but then keeps going along with it anyway (as the plot demands), then he's just an idiot.
This song needs more love. It's not like that makes it better, what's more it's Vegeta's reaction to it. Until he ended up settling down Vegeta was pretty much a remorseless shithead.
He's a idiot either way to me, but again, it depends on how it's handled.
Literally nothing has been confirmed and everyone is already flipping out lol
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Akechi does that to people, especially the prospect of him being redeemed after everything he did. I mean, just the idea that the thieves were willing to forgive him (they weren't; they just figured it was better to work with him since they all wanted to take down Shido, and were willing to put up with him for that) drives people nuts, even though both Ryuji and especially Haru say they can't forgive him.
It's a sensitive issue to be honest.
One Strip! One Strip!Apparently The Traitor is considered far more sympathetic in Japan because illegitimate children are actually a massively discriminated-against group there.
So it's our fault for being Tingle hating Americans then?
I gotta admit: I'm not shocked. I mean, it has been mentioned how illegitimate children are poorly treated in Japan, so it's not so out of the question that he'd gain more sympathy in the country the game was made for.
That being said, I mentioned in the P5 game thread (which is also discussing this news) that the traitor getting a redemption arc and surviving isn't that much of a shock (in fact it's one of the things you'd expect with them saying they might deviate from the game) and asked if there's something else they could do, and someone mentioned a cameo from Yu.
I'm not sure if that's less predictable or not, however.
Edit: ...Wait a minute! I'M CANADIAN!

One Strip! One Strip! Not a great excuse for murdering people. Especially Futaba's mom.
But yeah I'm not gonna jump to conclusions about the twist. To me, a redemption arc doesn't sound like a 'shock' as described.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Elizabeth shows up and the Phatom Thieves have to steal Protagonist (P3) back from his whole deal.
It would be an exciting new thing.
Admittedly when I first played this game I thought Futaba was the traitor. She outright says she doesn't care about stealing people's hearts so much as she does finding out her mother's death. And being the navigator, she'd be in the perfect position to do so. Akechi came off as a red herring since it's too obvious. But turns out that was kind of the point.
Just caught episode 2:
I gotta say, I wasn't impressed. They really are going through the plot at light speed, but the actual moments lack the impact that they had in the games. There just doesn't seem to be any meat at all.
I'm rather disappointed to be honest.
One Strip! One Strip! That was the exact same thing in P 4 A as well.
Once they actually complete the party then we will likely get a few episodes that will really be worth watching if you have played the game.
Its funny too since I watched P 4 A before playing the game and thought it was fine.
But yea, this feels so whack after playing P5 from start to finish.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The worst part of that is they're also showing stuff that would have helped if the pacing was better. Stuff like showing the track team and having Ren get bullied by Kamoshida were the type of things I hoping the anime would cover. And damn, I already felt bad for Shiho in the game but they just had to add to it.
Ok, I do admit that actually seeing Kamoshida beating Shiho was pretty heavy. I thought he did...other things to the female athletes, but this was still pretty bad.
It's weird though: the speedy pace didn't bother me with the P4 anime (I actually thought it worked pretty well) but here, it's seems to be much more detrimental. Not sure why this one is so different.
One Strip! One Strip!I think that's still the case here, but this time he was fueled by another sin.
As for the pacing, the part that really feels off to me is the Castle portion. They doesn't really take the time to sink in how twisted that place is before reflecting it in the real world.

I mean, not to be that guy, but it was inevitable that the second that they mentioned it was only going to be a 24 episode series that they were going to speed through the plot.
Now preferably, I would like the animation staff in this case to cut out the fat. Only keep the actual essential confidants rather than trying to squeeze everyone in. Trim it down to like Sojiro, Mashima, and like Kawakami.
What about cameos?
Also, actually seeing Shiho get beat up by Kamoshida was hard to watch.
The animation's quality dipped down badly this episode. I never knew you can make an All-Out Attack look uncool.
Also, there's a few CGI background characters that look so misplaced, it's ridiculous,
Also, I was pissed that the opening was a bunch of recycled clips but then I found out it was a placeholder until episode 4.

Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down.I'm expecting most of the Confidants to come up at point they're relevant, the question is how much they'll be fleshed out. We already got a hint with Kawakami, but that can easily be intended as a nod. Plus they kinda took something from Mashima and gave it to Ren.

Cameos I think would be cool. That's just my take on if they want to make this a Pragmatic Adaptation.
People were more douchey in this episode if that makes anyone happy.
I don't think the animation is any worse than it was for the P4 anime. I feel like this is the 'quality' we've come to expect. I don't hate it.
You know I squeed when Haru appeared. And took a screencap.
Wait, is "Metaverse" in Japanese really just "Isekai?"
I do wish more than 24 episodes.
A wild Kanamin appears.
Ryuji is the coolest. Be nice to him, Renren. >:(
The OP and ED are lit.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
I mean, given that anime and manga have done well received redemption storylines for a guy that blew up planets for his paycheck and multiple people that participated in a straight-up ethnic cleansing among many, many others, I dunno why doing one for The Traitor would be half-assed necessarily.
