From No Real Life Examples, Please!:

sex tropes that focus on the sexual act or the sexual lives of people (as per the Content Policy)
The Content Policy and the 5P Circuit:
Implied sex of preteens or younger,

The works in question invite the audience to sexualize real life people who are (almost) of legal age.

So, no; I don't think "as long as we can cite and link to where they made the attempt (attribute it, that is), then the trope can be listed." I think writing those examples encourage the "practice of adults keeping a countdown until an attractive underage celebrity turns eighteen".

Legitimate examples concerning real people would be things like websites that provide countdowns, memes, and other things that we treat as works. inadmissible examples would be the simple statement that "so-and-so is hot and hoo-boy, if she were legal..." and the like.

"Nearly 18" is not, by any stretch, "pre-teen or younger", either, so that part of the P5 policy is irrelevant.

The Jail Bait Wait should also require that the person doing the waiting actually intends to act once the other is of age, not just a random stranger fantasizing about them.

So, any opposition to broadening this to cover any kind of wait until someone is of acceptable age?

You mean for non-sexual stuff? Like being old enough to drive or old enough to vote or out of high school? Yes. I object. That's so vague as to make this useless, and make the name misleading.

Anything like 'your too young to drink I will just wait till your older' type thing would be a sister trope to this.

No, not non sexual stuff. Should have worded it more precisely.

General "waiting till you're older/taller/stronger/have finished X" is either a Missing Supertrope, or Chairs. I'd say "chairs" personally.

OK. I'm still not sure what you're proposing to expand it to, then. This trope name is specific to waiting until the legal age of consent (or a culturally-acceptable age, in cases where "legal age of consent" doesn't exist) is reached before beginning a sexual or sexualized interaction, in order to avoid punishment (again, legal if there are legal ages, social ostrcization or censure if there aren't).

It doesn't matter what the sexual relationship is. What matters is that it is sexual, and that it's delayed or avoided specifically due to the age of the younger one, with the full intent of the older that it will start as soon as the appropriate age is reached..

So, since this seems to be a simple fix: Does anyone disagree with Madrugada's proposed definition change?

Wait-a-second... That would still make the examples of the [Magazine] and [Radio] folders misuse because they're all random strangers fantasizing about people or feature non-sexual actions.

I don't know if it's mentioned but the examples with Americans in other places with a lower AOC are still valid.

AFIAK it's actually illegal to cross state or international lines, or transport anyone over them for the purpose skirting age of consent laws in the US. So an American citizen from a state with a AOC of 18 going to Europe and screwing a 16 year old would still be illegal.

Requesting comment on Madrugada's soluton again. I also think that asking people to figure out how exactly the law works in any particular polity is probably asking too much.

Agreed. If an older character says to a younger one, "call me when you're 17!" it doesn't matter whether 17 is the precise legal AOC in their area. The spirit of the trope is clearly in play.

No, circumventing the law doesn't match the trope of "waiting until sexual acts are legal".
