I presume it might be at least one of the following:
- their plot had more connections to the main cast (esp Sonic). the reasoning being that they can't exactly punt the main character off the main book yet
- Covid delays finally caught up to IDW and thus forced them to make some compromises, in which case canning the miniseries one such compromise.
- And/Or they decided to center the next mini on a different group (Team Rose or Dark maybe?)

I normally frown on DC making an excessive number of spin-off titles.
But Sonic has the opposite problem. A Sonic Universe-like would be good for it, if a bit too derivative.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Oooh! I would love to see a Team Dark miniseries, that's if SEGA is willing to let that happen.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Damn it people, where is my Omega vs Metal Sonic story over the title of who's Eggman' magnus Opus?
For real tho, I'm surprised that has never been a plot point in any story by Flynn.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I'm surprised Sonic hasn't fought Omega even once.
Everybody else mistakes hedgehogs for Sonic. Metal actually resembles Sonic and yet Omega discerns the two just fine.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Wait, I thought Flynn only talked about a possible Deadly Six miniseries on the Bumblekast not too long ago. Is that what people are referring to with the miniseries? I definitely don't remember hearing a Deadly Six miniseries being already announced.
He talked about workng on it; he specifically was asked what was the next mini series after Bad Guys.
Guess plans changed and they put it in the main book.

Oh God! Natural light!@Tomodachi
Omega is just comic relief. He never gets his own stories. He just had a debut and then one part of Scrambled.
In fact, my common Archie complaint was that Rouge and Omega exist as nothing but sidekicks for Shadow.
I mean to be fair, that was true for the games too at the time.
And now none of them are important :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Omega still isn't getting big roles but at least he and Rouge are no longer glued to Shadow's buttcheeks.
I guess this is natural development now that Shadow went from one of the biggest heroes to a loser who can't do anything right.
Rouge and Omega absolutely should be tied to Shadow's buttcheeks. They're supporting characters to a supporting character. They have a 'Dark Mirror to Team Sonic' theme going.
- Sonic, Tails, Knuckles - rogue hero hedgehog who follows his own rules of heroism, smart guy who often gets the plot or MacGuffin moving, and single-minded comic relief sidekick with a goal that seems to take the backseat in future appearances
- Shadow, Rouge, Omega - edgier rogue hero hedgehog who follows his own rules of heroism, edgier smart chick who often gets the plot or MacGuffin moving, and edgier single-minded comic relief sidekick with a goal that seems to take the backseat in future appearances
That's their dynamic. Even when Rouge is in the story with Sonic, she's still in a story with Shadow.
There are some characters I can understand wanting to see more of but I think we oversell just how much background characters are supposed to stand out. Even Mario knows that Daisy, Toadette, Kamek, the Koopalings, etc aren't A-list characters. Albeit, characters like Yoshi get their day, and Toad got a game, but those are exceptions. note
Therefore, I posit while in possession of sound body and mind, that Rouge and Omega are glued to Shadow's cheeks because Tails and Knuckles are glued to Sonic's.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Additionally, Shadow isn't a loser who can't do anything right.
He's the ultimate loser who can't do anything right.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Eeehhh, that's honestly way too limiting for me. Its not like I want Rouge or Omega to have their own arcs or anything but they have way more to offer than just playing second fiddle to Shadow.
Its the Cream problem; there's not much you can do with a sidekick of a secondary character as you said. Especially since Shadow is nowhere near as prominent as he used to be and is mostly just a foil for Sonic nowadays as opposed to a major character in his own right.
Also, we just got the Knuckles/Rouge dynamic and I will take Shadow being a loser if it means I can keep that.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.As a counter-respose to that argument, IDW has shown Sega is not too interested in team dynamics, this is why Knuckles returned to Angel Island after the Metal Sonic deal was over, Tails and Sonic don't hang out that much so the fox is not glued to him, and Amy has no business with Cream and Big besides the last arc.
Only the Chaotix stick together, which is a given, but Team Dark separating makes sense, as before Heroes Rouge was a very independent character and treasure hunter, and the games imply Omega is doing his own thing, not really being tied to Shadow and Rouge.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Yeah, Rouge was a character before team Dark as a concept was even formed.
Also it should be said that Cream being Amy's sidekick was a thing in one game only. She was Blaze's sidekick in Rush and an independant character everywhere else.
Battle, Advance 3, Sonic X, and Archie says "Hello" And even discounting those material, IDW had established Amy and Cream as being close friends; what with Vanilla namedropping Amy in their debut issue, those moments in Issue 22, Amy being the first to notice Cream's absence in the MVS climax (and being most concerned about it), and we just had an arc with Amy and Cream being tightknit friends even if ruined a bit by that stupid robot butting in

Think the point is that characters should be allowed a bit more free range than only being associated with one character only.
Its kind of a problem I have with Tails a lot of the time, since he is mostly tied at Sonic's hip and rarely interacts with anyone else unless its' through Sonic.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Really having everyone be able to form teams on the fly is better for character development and making sure that they can swap things up.
We had the first pages of Issue 37 for a while...
Now we have the next two pages!
Dat smug/cheeky-looking Jewel tho
Umm...Is Amy's dress discolored in that last panel there?
EDIT: NVM, mistook one of her rings for a part of her dress.

They're gonna have to name that sheep girl eventually.
As far as minor characters go, she's been showing up for a while now, and I get the feeling they kinda like her.
One Strip! One Strip!I think she's one of [[Evan Stanley (this arc's writer)'s OCs? Not sure.
But yes, she does need a proper name. I elect we name her Fluffy.
EDIT: I was mistaken. The sheep girl is one of Adam Bryce Thomas' OCs. Apparently her name is Lanolin.

Fluffy the Sheep.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
So, the whole Deadly Six thing is now apart of the main series? Why did they decided to cancel the miniseries?
