They will either have it be the post-reboot thing, or it's going to follow the games to a T without any SATAM or Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog influences. I also hope we can keep our fingers cross for Ian Flynn coming back to write.
It's a pipe dream, but I'm really hoping the first issue's cover is an homage to this classic cover.◊
Normally I'd agree, but it's IDW. For all we know, they just might do both.
Joe Hughes will be the editor for Sonic in IDW.
I'm not really sure what to think of this because I have no idea who he is or what his references are.
Apparently he did work for Vertigo Comics as an assistant editor for Dial H and American Vampire before moving on to IDW?

He doesn't ring any bells to me as well.
According to TSSZ's sources the IDW Sonic will be a hard reboot. https://twitter.com/tssznews/status/891509184814043137
The Protomen enhanced my life.On the one hand, I should have expected this. On the other, I guess that means it really is the end of an era...
It should be noted that TSSZ tends to be unreliable. It is better to wait for something more official before we jump to conclusions.

Some IDW Sonic details will be coming at NYCC in October
Firestar and Blaze team up please!
I never end and that's the difference between you and me.Woo-Hoo!
Since IDW loves crossovers, what mashup should happen between Sonic and whatever franchise they do comics for?
I hope it's all Classic Sonic.
Anyway, what's this I hear about IDW grabbing Mega Man as well? Any truth to that?

x2 I think we all know what series Sonic will crossover with in these comics: My Little Pony.
Hey, if Sonic Force allows players to create their original cancer (which is the main reason I am getting the game) than I am sure IDW will make a crossover of the two series with an infamous fandom.
Hell, I'd like to see a Sonic/MLP crossover just so that I can see the two fandoms rip each other apart. All while reading about Sonic and Rainbow Dash having a friendly rivalry and Tails and Twilight discussing science and magic like the eggheads they are.
Let's not stop there, why not have crossovers with Ninja Turtles or Transformers? Or how about something more unorthodox like X-Files or Samurai Jack?
Don't think Samurai Jack is possible since the comic ended.
But I would like to see a crossover involving Sonic and Rom the Space Knight. Maybe something involving either the Deadly Six or Black Arms originating from the Dire Wraith.
I'd love to see Mars Attacks! Sonic the Hedgehog, personally.
That or Sonic the Hedgehog/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Speaking of Sonic Forces, you think they'll adapt it and Mania? they'd have to adapt Mania to adapt Forces anyway.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I understand IDW is also doing Disney comics. So Disney/Sonic crossovers are a definite possibility.
Well, they're releasing a new issue titled Quantum Jack, so yeah.
Hmmm.
So they are getting rid of all the Archie characters and plot lines for the new Sonic comic eh?
It really is the end of an era, but maybe it's better that way. Wipe the slate clean, and create something new.
One Strip! One Strip! They haven't said that yet. Knock on wood.
We will not get any actual details until October.

I could swear they've mentioned somewhere that this is a hard reboot. Not sure what will happen to characters, though, IDW is known for combining numerous continuities.
Last I checked, so far, it's only a rumor that TSSZ reported on.
It likely is a reboot, but they have avoided saying anything concrete about story or character details. To the point where they have said nothing. So we don't know if we're losing the Freedom Fighters or not.
Sonic the Hedgehog comics will be released under IDW Publishing in 2018. https://twitter.com/IDWPublishing/status/888536084472352770 Discuss them here.
