Which is why the game gives you the option of simply flipping the bird at the factions and chasing after Eothas alone.

Which is awesome, especially in my games where Atsura ended up being the one who chased my independently-minded Watcher to Ukaizo. Pissing off the RDC twice over is a joy.

I'm almost sorry to kill him, though - Atsura is a pretty amazing character. I'd have liked to play a game with him as the main villain.

On a side note, I named my current Psyblade Watcher "Duncan". Care to guess what science fiction character I named him after?

Duncan Idaho, Swordmaster of the Ginaz, from Frank Herbert's Dune. A supernaturally powerful Master Swordsman who came back from death (more than once even!)...

On another sidenote, one of my mods topped 500 unique downloads yesterday. I didn't realize there were so many Aloth lovers in the world. Imagine if I'd made a mod for Edér...

Nice, very nice.

...I would love to see a Dune RPG done in this engine. Just sayin', Obsidian/modders.

I was also considering a Highlander reference too, such as a particularly vicious Aumaua Fighter / Barbarian specializing in Greatswords named after the Kurgan. Maybe on another playthrough. His final gear would probably consist of the Sanguine Greatsword or Distraho and the Blackened Plate Armor and Helm.

Goddamn Clancy Brown is right.

Have you considered Rogue/Barbarian? The graze-to-hit accuracy and overall toughness of a fighter is nice, but you might be pleasantly surprised by what a rogue can do with a two-handed weapon and heavy armor if you give them the chance. The hit-to-crit chance and damage bonuses from those two classes...

Speaking of multiple playthroughs, I imported my Bleak Walkers run from the first game. One of the quirks I played her with was that while she does max out Cruel and Aggressive, she's also Stoic, Rational, and Honest to a fault. Honest in particular is keyed to be more good and less neutral in Deadfire, which seems like it breaks certain interactions. Atsura in particular's been all over the place.

A Rogue / Barbarian, eh?

I'd probably name him after Conan the Cimmerian then. Conan was something of a Guile Hero despite being the Barbarian Hero too.

Another idea was a red-headed female Devoted Sword Fighter / Kind Wayfarer Paladin named Sonja. Guess who she's based off of?

Red Sonja of course. Redheaded master swordswoman empowered by a god. It wouldn't be totally accurate since the Chain Mail Bikini is (thankfully) not a thing in this game.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure that mod is being made by someone...

I almost went with Devoted/Bleak Walker, but ultimately decided to stick with a single-class character. I already liked paladins quite a bit mechanically in the first game, and they're even more intersting here. Plus they still get a lot of unique dialogue choices for each of the five orders, which was something I always liked about them in the first game. Shame Furrante and Lucia Rivan apparently don't have much in the way of unique dialogue for a fellow Darcozzi Paladin. Seems like such a huge opportunity to miss.

I had a lot of fun with my nigh-indestructible Unbroken/Stalker hireling, too. Reminded me of Barik from Tyranny. But yeah, a full-on Barbarian Hero sounds pretty good, now that you mention it...

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet."

Yep, definitely a Barbarian Rogue build.

No chainmail bikinis, but there are dancer's outfits, and a mod which lets you enchant them.

Any recs for a mod to enchant mundane items? There's a lot of NPC armor I'd like to use if it only scaled with you. That, and/or give Xoti, Serafen, and Tekehu's unique armor unique enchants?

I'm still a bit disappointed that Eder and Aloth don't have unique subclasses unlike the other party members.

This mod makes companion armors upgradeable and adds unique enchantments. And with this one, you can add any enchantment in the game to any piece of armor or clothing.

[up][up][up]Nice, thanks. Is it weird that I want less customizability than what the second one is offering? But I can work with that.

[up]And Maia's too, oddly, which is weird, because I believe her uniform is just that — there are other Rauataians wearing a palette-swapped version of the same outfit, whereas I think Xoti and Serafen's starting armour is unique to them... and possibly other Dawnstars, in Xoti's case, now that I think about it. Not sure offhand.

Finally got the encounter with the Griffon's Blade. That didn't trigger at all in my last playthrough. It's a decent sword too. That one enchantment that boosts action speed and reflex seems particularly good.

So I just found out that there was another Bounty questgiver in Serpent's Crown outside of the palace that I completely missed out on in my first playthrough. I guess that explains all of those named enemies I killed who didn't show up on bounty quests in my last playthrough.

The old lady? Yeah, she gives the toughest bounties and the top payouts.

I can't help feeling like the snowglobe effect ruins the intimidation factor of the dragon. Also I can't think of a single time when I've ever had Xoti switch to any ranged weapon, let alone her starting crossbow.

Sounds like we'll be getting a new priest companion, Vatnir, a Rymrgand godlike/godlike of endings. No mention of whether or not Ydwin will take on any new importance, but I suppose that's to be expected. And the Watcher has yet another title, Duskspeaker, with that cult of Rymrgand hoping we'll bring about the end of all things.

Man, the Watcher keeps gathering more and more titles. At this rate they will rival an Elder Scrolls protagonist.

Seems like the Big Bad will be a dragon who, judging by the description, may very well have lived in a time before the gods were created. Somehow I doubt we'll have an option to talk her down the way we could talk down the two dragons in the main storyline (not counting the Guardian of Ukaizo).

BTW, am I correct in assuming that if I leave off destroying Crookspur, then more slaver ships will keep spawning? They're pretty nice sources of loot.
