Hot take: it's a Capcom All-Stars Vs. mobile game.
(Trying REALLY hard not to think it's Marvel vs. Capcom for fear of disappointment.)

They already have that. It's called Teppen, and it's a card game.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Isn't this the second time he does this?
Stop teasing the internet Brian!
Uni catMan V would be sick in a Marvel game. The combos a puppet character could make happen would be nuts.
Has vicious Carl Clover flashbacks
...I'll pass

V would suck at melee tho
Unless he can actually use Shadow as normal attacks
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaMy guess is it's going to be a goddamn gacha game and all this hype will be for nothing.
I'm thinking that Shadow would move around V pretty tightly, and attack from where he is when you press most attack buttons. I don't see them keeping the "V has to finish the enemies off" thing, but they might have a system where Shadow and Griffon stack up "marks" on opponents that V can detonate with a poke from his cane.
Cane jab tech for days.
There already a gacha game, so this wouldn't be that.
Anyway, it's weird he can just say that.

They can have more than one.
I am not going to let myself get hyped until I see something solid.
Agreed.
Yeah, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is coming up at this year's EVO for its 20th anniversary. And yeah, Disney has been looking at games again thanks to Spider-Man (PS4) and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but no!
It's too easy to assume MvC is coming back again...
Not much of a surprise but Hanford doesn't know anything we don't
But unlikely and if they made another mobile game, it would probably be something different. Teppen already is a "Capcom All Stars".
It's all moot anyway.

At least this shows....well further shows proof people REALLY want another Capcom Vs. Game. I don't think he wasn't lying, people jumped the gun a bit too early, but now the interent's gauged interest and for the most part, I think it can garner interest really well.
Or maybe someone on Capcom's legal team prodded him into initiating Suspiciously Specific Denial mode...
But I digress.
Even if it wasn't going to be another MVC people are always interested in another VS series. Whether it would be a crossover with another IP or themselves.
I wouldn't mind V's inclusion but if he gets in over Vergil & Nero that would be pretty dumb.
Its so hard to figure out what Devil May Cry reps other than Dante can fight, cuz there's no way a franchise is getting 5/6 slots on the Capcom side unless they're really going for a 44-62 character roster.
- Dante's obvious.
- Trish was definitely a surprise to people and a lot of people miss her gameplay style despite being polarizing at first.
- Vergil definitely makes sense but the balancing side of the devs gotta make sure he's not broken otherwise the competitive scene is going to lose their crap.
- Lady would make sense and most people do want her if Trish didn't come back. Heck, half of the MVCI wishlists and how to fix videos had her on those list in every capacity.
- Lucia would be the ultimate Unexpected Character like Deis (apparently she was planned in Infinite), and most people who hate DMC 2 at least think she was decent at worst.
- Nero is now basically the protagonist of the franchise, so you have to him in some capacity.
- And V....man this gets even harder since his gameplay/function style would be very unique to the franchise as a Puppet Master.
Since Re Evil got 4 reps last time, I can see them picking four DMC representatives. Dante, Nero, and Lady. But then it gets to V or Vergil. You either don't want to deal with Vergil loops or think V isn't as interesting. I'd say make one of them a boss and the other playable, or have one be a cameo in the other's moveset. Like V and Urizen fuse into Vergil for his intro or V's Level 3 has a Vergil shadow if Dante's on the team or something.
Personally, I'd go with Nero, Lady and Lucia as DMC reps with maybe Trish or V as a fourth in an updated version or as DLC.
Dante and Nero get the biggest shot. Vergil is the close second. I'm fine with the rest not being in.
But really, if you think it's hard to slot DMC characters in, then Street Fighter should be much harder...
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaFor Street Fighter, Ryu and Chun are the default. The options that make the most sense.
- Akuma: Should be a shoe in since he's been in every game but Infinite for some reason. Guess he ended up in Tekken 7 or fought Asura somewhere.
- Juri: A lot of people really want her in and combining the elements from Street Fighter 4 and V are really all you need.
- Necalli: Really great for story purposes and can provide a unique counter of Wolverine's gameplay and could be a good villain.
- Rashid: The most liked member of the IV newcomers V and feels the most like a MVC character from gameplay and personality alone.
- Gill: He was planned for 3 and Infinite allegedly. And his perfection doesn't require any training.
- Ibuki: Like Kamen Rider, the lack of diversity of ninjas on either side of the roster is bizarre besides Strider. Where the heck is Daredevil? Plus she'd get along great with someone like Kamala Khan.
- Bison: Bro, where you've been, you're the main antagonist of Street Fighter. Plus, failed auditions forgot he can work with others, he just manipulates them or makes them fight for him based on prestige alone.
People made fun of Infinite for not having Akuma, so they're not making that mistake twice.
For others, I'm still shocked Rashid wasn't in Infinite after III made sure to put one of their most pushed character from Street Fighter IV (C. Viper) in - at least at the time (Juri turned out to be the biggest addition from that game, but at the time they were trying to push Viper). Rashid is one of the big protags of V and was pretty popular with the fans (plus had a moveset that fit MVC very well), so I dunno who dropped the ball there.
Beyond that, Juri's definitely also in the running for a possible third rep. She's pretty much a mainstay character at this point. And if they want more villains, Bison or Gill - probably Gill more than Bison since his group of characters is also getting a push these days.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I actually made a small list on SF characters that could go in a crossover
- SFI: Ryu, Ken, Sagat
- SFII: Chun-Li, Cammy, Bison, Akuma, Guile(?)
- SFA: Sakura, Charlie (using SFV moves), Cody (he's more of a FF rep tho)
- SFIII: Alex, Gill, Urien, Yun/Yang(?)
- SFIV: C. Viper (Kinda want Capt. Commando more), Juri, Seth, Abel (only if Seth really is in)
- SFV: Rashid, Necalli, G, FANG (only if Rashid/Bison is in), Kolin (only if Gill is in)
Out of all of those, I can only pin down Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma, and Rashid as the most certain. Personally I can see Cammy, Bison, Alex, Gill, Juri, Seth and maybe Cody joining in as well.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaReally?
I would argue it's easier. Admittedly, having an SF rep over another Capcom IP wouldn't be without its irritation.
He was straight-up absent in MVC 1. Ryu was supposed to rep him with his "Mode Change" gimmick, but he wasn't an Assist character or even a cameo.
Really good point.
He's also be pretty legit with Venom too.
Too bad SF V did him so dirty.
TBH, I only want Bison if Red Skull miraculously makes it in.
They did?
Every 1 was so pissed off with the final roster that it was really hard to pin down who anyone missed in the game. Well, besides the X-men.
I can't see Yun/Yang, Abel, FANG, or Kolin ever making the cut.
Otherwise, yea, those guys were pretty much the guys I thought that could be a good rep a VS game.

Interesting Tweet from the guy who voiced V in Devil May Cry.
