I hope the rumors of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters being embargoed isn't true. MvC just doesn't feel right without Wolverine and Doom.
Wasn't MvC3 touted as having a story written by Frank Tieri? Considering how that turned out (all the "story" was in a little pre-order exclusive comic [later made into a digital comic that was included in Ultimate]), I'm not holding my breath there.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryI hope Zero is still in. He's far more interesting than X gameplay-wise.
So not trying to freak anyone out, but I think this is the first time that Ryu has not been opposed by Wolverine in the whole face-off thing.

This song needs more love.
I disagree. X is pretty fun to use with his armors giving him different playstyles, hoping that they make him a hybrid type of character.
This is also X's debut in an official crossover fighting game. Regardless of Zero, the main character of the Mega Man X series getting his due is kind of nice.
X's only other crossover fighting game appearances were fangames at best. MUGEN and Super Smash Flash. Not the best way for him to appear. This is extreme hype. Also, being Mega Man wasn't in MVC 3, this is pretty major to see a Mega Man come back in general.
Shadow? The fact that the first Marvel character shown is Iron Man, the MCU poster-boy, makes it pretty likely the Fox properties aren't coming in.
Now, as much as that sucks, I can't help but think it might be a necessary evil. Marvel Future Fight's been surprisingly creative with its roster, and I imagine a big reason why is because they can't just dip into the X-Men pool. A crossover game really shouldn't be having one franchise make up more than a quarter of the roster. At the very least I'm intrigued at the possibilities.
I'm trying to remember how many crossover games had some main villains of their franchises/company fused together. I only remember Dark Khan from MK VS DC Universe. Not the greatest example ever, but...
Marvel VS Capcom 1 did have a fusion character, but it was just two X-Men characters, so it's not the same thing.
Shadow?Technically God Rugal in Capcom vs SNK 2 was Rugal with the Satsui no Hadou, and Shin Akuma in that game was Akuma after he'd absorbed Rugal's Orochi power. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Capcom also had an Apocalypse upgraded Cyber Akuma.
Not fusions in the strictest sense but I could see them go that route.
Honestly if the X-Men characters aren't in the game, I may just end up passing on this one. They (along with Spider-Man who I'm sure is safe) have consistently been my favorite Marvel characters to play as and considering that I'm meh on X then if Amaterasu and Phoenix don't make it, then there's no one from 3 that I like (except for Spider-Man). Venom is my last hope.
This song needs more love.I wasn't expecting to see this! There's something to be said about Mega Man and Captain Marvel(?), two of the most missed characters in MvC3 being amongst the first announced.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."They should take a page from Project X Zone and bring out a few obscure characters like Devillote. If they could pull her off in this game as funny as she is in that game, that'd be great!
I hope that Marvel/Capcom doesn't beat around the bush much longer, and just come out at say what the status of Xmen/Fantastic 4 characters are for this game. If showing X first was a deliberate decision, then they're clearly aware of the prevailing opinions of the fanbase, and have to know that this is a major talking point right now.
I 2nd Devilotte, she'd be nuts

STARTS WITH Mega Man X CONFIRMED AS THE FIRST CHARACTER!!!!!

(Clears his throat)
I mean, it's good to see a new installment in the MVC series. I just hope they include Felicia and Tron again. Specifically Felicia. She's my main fighter in the franchise.
