They may have studied how lions look intensively because the lions look spot on, but they should be more expressive
She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort characterI read the ending of the Junior Novelization and couldn't find any significant changes. I wonder how they'll pad it out.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Actually the scene above with Timon and Pumba kind of worked for the most part. My main criticism of it would be that there should have been a pause between Pumba suggesting "maybe he'll be on our side" and Timon then pretending to have came up with the idea himself.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"I found the scene amusing, I think. ^_^
I wouldn't call it perfect—a bit more emoting on the part of the characters might help—but I thought that, for me at least, the emotions came through well enough for the humour to be effective.
My Games & Writing56% approval rating on RT, based on 67 reviews so far. (Avg. rating 6.37/10.)
Though it can take pride in its visual achievements, this reimagined The Lion King is a by the numbers retelling lacks the energy and heart that made the original so beloved - though for some fans that may just be enough.
Welp.
has a clue, but it's usually not the correct one 0.55% of the timeI don't think the characters being photo-realistic should be an issue in itself for emoting. There are many emotional films that use real animals and little-to-no CGI. Homeward Bound comes to mind. It's all in the voice work.

She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort character*reads reviews* So “Be Prepared” is in the movie. No goose-stepping hyenas, though.
Is someone gonna pick up the phone?
Because I fucking called it !
NO NAZI REFERENCES THIS IS 2019

GHOST BUSTERS!
New theme music also a boxOkay, I read one review that said the "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" number takes place during the day in the remake.
Because "Tonight" mean noon, right?
It's also 5 pm somewhere so I can drink the entire film, right?
So here's Be Prepared.
I'm confused. Not only is the song shorter, but Scar spends most of it just... speaking the lyrics. Which is weird, because Chiwetel Ejiofor can totally sing. His drag queen bravado from Kinky Boots fits the performance of "Be Prepared", but apparently this film insisted on only a speech.

He speak-sings it in the original, too.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Ooh, that was really good! Rather affecting indeed! ^_^
My Games & WritingThe growing consensus seems to be that it's a technological showcase but a pale imitation of the original, with all of the expressiveness and charm just lost under photo-realism.
Considering that Detective Pikachu came out this year and did realistic 'animal' characters that could emote, it's really weird they couldn't bend the animation just slightly to make the characters more expressive here. If you're gonna keep the singing and the dancing, then you've got to make SOME concessions to un-reality.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectProbably because Detective Pikachu is about Pokemon. Pokemon never look realistic, they was made to look expressive, even in the movie their cartoonist characteristic still presented.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieDefinitly not as flamboyant & outragous sounding as the original.
Then again this entire production seems to be just a more understated, low-key version.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."This movie look like a tech-demo to showcase the visual and realistic animal more than a movie.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieI basically like the concept this version of Be Prepared much more than I like the apparent execution. The idea of Scar delivering the song like an actual political speech to a captive audience rather than singing is a interesting one and I particularly like the last handful of seconds of the song, which sounds like a military march with the "Be Prepared! Be Prepared! Be Prepared!" chanting. But both sections of the song (and the song itself) are far too short to really work and as a result the spoken part of it amps up into screaming and music far too quickly. Overall a letdown, though not as bad as I expected it.
I also miss some of the lines of the original song like "A shining new era is tiptoeing nearer" or the actual content of the Hyena's chanting ("It's great that we'll soon be connected / With a king who'll be all-time adored!").
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
> Did the animators not study lions?
in fairness they in all likelyhood did, kind of uncalled for
