"Why not?" is the better question.

You say that "Something cannot spring from nothing", that is logic, but I say nothing exists there, including logic.

[up][up] And the desperate need for supplies for starships in the Void to survive?

That is, they desperately raid starships for supplies in order to survive?

~

Idea: The Herald runs into one of my violent anti-heroes, mayhaps the Demon Slayer and they team-up?

The people stuck in the void need supplies for their starships. Otherwise they die.

Ah, well, they can't conjure anything out of nothing, they bring logic and reason with them, after all.

Edit: After a while, logic and reason come to exist on their own, but by then all sorts of crazy things have happened and now there's just another "Void" underneath this thing.

It's turtles all the way down.

About the anti-hero team-up thing.... It is possible, but it is also possible they night not (The Herald, as impossible as it may seem, has lines he won't cross. He doesn't kill innocents. Never). I'll check the Demon Slayer character sheet and determine whethere they can team-up or not.

EDIT: They can, and they probably WILL. They have so many similarities that it's not even funny. (And, yes, I proved myself that I am not a creative person.) Bummer.tongue

I think I need to buff The Herald a bit, and change some part of his character sheet (it won't be major changes, it will be changes in details).

If you want clarification: The Demon Slayer's vision distinguishes between those who have "demons on their shoulders" and those who have "embraced their demons and become them".

I have another faction idea. It might concern supers with technological origins (or are somehow related to tech).

Shield of Humanity:

An organization which believes in human supremacy. However, there is one unique thing about them: they worship technology. Rather, they believe that technology is the next step in humanity's evolution. So, they are willing to accept cyborgs, androids and such. In fact, they are eager to accept them. Their goal is the Technological Transcendence (basically, making every life on Earth cyborgs) and the eradication of magic and metas (since they see metas as anomaly of mankind).

They have not made their debut yet (for a lack of better words). They are still in hiding, waiting for the opportunity. They are currently recruiting scientists, cyborgs and androids.

Knights of Transcendence:

Combat forces for the Shield of Humanity (basically, Mooks). They are all either cyborgs, androids or robots. Their leader is Lara Harper. They are divided into sub-categories:

Squad Icarus:

Flight units. Cyborgs and androids. Most wear jetpacks, but elite units wear mechanized wings. They specialize at ambushing enemies. Their weapons are laser guns. Squad Icarus is generally the weakest of the Knights in terms face-to-face combat, since they are made of androids and cyborgs who don't have that much combat capability. But, one should not underestimate them, as they can, well, fly.

Cyclops:

Scanner units. They are all robots who have the scanning technology. As the name indicates, they have one eye. There are even robots who are floating mechanical eyes. Only few of these robots have combat capabilities, and even then they're not that powerful. One thing they have though is maneuver skills: they can get almost anywhere they want. Patrol on rooftops, stick to walls and all those nifty things...

Followers of the First:

All of them are cyborgs. They specialize in combat. Followers take orders directly from the First Transcendent. They all vary from each other, from hulking brutes of strength to assassins who have cloaking ability. Speaking in game language, they have all types of RPG classes. Followers have their own sub-categories:

'Squad Alpha': Stealth-expert assassins. They can cloak, move with great agility and crawl walls thanks to their Assassins Armor Mk 1. This armor induces a serum to the wearer that makes them have great agility. However, it causes Alpha Squad to lose empathy and become amoral in the process. As such, they are incredibly ruthless. They are even willing to kill children... For an easier comparison, they are Assassins from {{Franchise/Assassin'sCreed}} in terms of physical skills and Templars from the same series in terms of ruthlessness and motivation.

'Squad Omega': hulking brutes I mentioned above. They are genetically engineered to have a huge mass and then wear a super armor tailored to them. However, only few people can become part of Squad Omega. Because it essentially means that a person is willing to devote himself or herself to the cause. Besides, not everyone is suitable for this genetic-engineering process. As such, they are treated with utmost respect. One thing to note is that they are not stupid, and that's why they are the most dangerous things that Shield makes (outside of Arms. See below on what that is).

'Squad Beta': sappers. Engineers of the group. Mostly combat ones. Their tools include automated drones, flamethrowers, various explosives and all those other tools. Squad Beta is tasked to assist in Squad Gamma on their mission. The idea of sappers was proposed by one arsonist who used an incredibly unique design of flamethrowers (it could shoot fireballs).

'Squad Gamma': Just an average day cyborgs with average combat abilities. Many of them, but weak. Could be considered as Jack-of-all-Trades or Master of None. Their strength lies on their adaptability to various situations. If the squads mentioned above are mostly equipped for specific situations, Squad Gamma is more flexible. Straight assault units.

Seekers of the Flesh:

These are incomplete androids who seek to become humans. Despite their name, they are not scout units. Instead, their strength lies on their sheer unpredictability of their actions. There are not that many of them. Their ways of becoming human is infecting a human with a nano-virus that have their DN As, their data and such. Then, this virus slowly begins to assimilate the infected, absorbing some of the human data in process. And so, the infected becomes human no more, and sheds his skin to show an android. They are not Shield made and they themselves don't know where they come from. Some artifiser, Omnitech... no one knows and, probably, it's better left that way. One thing that Shield did, however, is make sure that they won't go against their fellow disciples. Actually, they really didn't need to, since all of them are already cyborgs, androids or robots.

Arms of Humanity:

Living weapons. Machines and non-humanoid. Hit like tanks (and they have the function of tanks). There are only 3 of them in their HQ. And they vary on their appearance. Arms are currently asleep, because disciples know that if they need to be awaken, then the situation is beyond hopeless. They are the ultimate weapons. Arms cannot be used for trivial purposes.

Anyone is free to use this organization as they see fit (I have my own characters in this group, but will not introduce them yet). If they like it... Essentially, they are tech-gathering cultists.

For Echoing Silence, the Shield might approach John Smith.

They might also want to get the rift technology.

I had an idea for conflict with The Traveler. Rine's rifts are unfinished technology, as he had escaped before they were completed. It's also why the Parasite got through in the first place, as the rifts become unstable after being open too long, starting to let... other things through. The Traveler could blame Rine for letting these creatures into this dimension in the first place.

More info on the Parasites: They're more Starfish Aliens than demons, and have the ability to camouflage into the darkness. This camo is imperfect, as you can still see there eyes if you look closely enough. They're pretty tough to kill, but have the intelligence of a braindead gnat, so they shouldn't be too much of a problem. Unless it's an army.

Interesting idea about the Shield of Humanity. In order to get Rift technology though, they would either have to make a Hardlite creature, or find a way to manipulate the density of matter. Either option could be a source of conflict to, well all dimensional travellers.

Well, they also know that acquiring the Rift technology won't be easy. So, they're preparing (besides, they have other things to do, like creating ultimate anti-super weapon or cooking up nano-viruses that, theoretically, cure 'death').

They better beware. Rine's not a pushover. He's an Anti-Hero for a reason. Also, Copy 2's somewhere in the city. Copy 4 (The Rine fighting the Parasite) doesn't know he followed him. The Shield could take that opportunity to nab him.

Papyrus sounds like a potential candidate for the Dimensional Guard. Merciless, efficient, he'd fit right in. I don't know whether to shift focus to the other Rine, I feel like Eisendrachen is a bit left out. I think she deserves a chance to show her skills to both Rine and Papyrus.

I like The Shield of Humanity Concept. Which reminds me, I should clarify Concepts.

Any player can create as many characters as they want (but only use one at a time.) You can also propose any Concepts, but those are by necessity more on a case by case basis. For example, there can be thousands of alien races, but only one Origin of the Universe. And from day one, my policy has been one of "first come gets picked." So even if your idea is better, if someone else already suggested something similar it has precedence. Though you can change it into something that can coexist. So, make sure you read that section in the OP of the Signup Thread.

Enirboreh: Oh yeah, the interaction between Traveler and Rine looks like its going to be very interesting. Unfortunately he's tied up in events over at Hazel's right now. But I'll think of something for later.

Vampire: I can help you with Papyrus. PM me.

I'm ecstatic that Rine has finally been put down on paper. He's been around in the ol' noggin for about 4 years now, so it feels great to have him put forward publicly. He used to be very different, an OP character who was basically an excuse for a self-insert into my favourite social media. Now he's become more of a solid character.

I now have a question: how can I make it so that Shield does indeed snatch Copy 2? I mean, I know a certain character from the Shield who can do it, but...

1. She is yet to be introduced.

2. She isn't approved yet. I haven't even written the character sheet for her.

Well, you could just wait until she gets accepted, and then when the Shield is formally introduced, reveal they had managed to capture him using a Hand Wave of some description. There hasn't been much word from Copy 2 anyway, so the alleyway he landed in could be near to their HQ, where they could capture him.

Remember: Hardlite units are susceptible to temperature change, as it causes them to lose control of their current state of matter. Maybe somebody has a flamethrower.

Edit: I also had the idea of Corrupted Copies, which were copies whose molecular structure had been botched. This causes severe mental problems, which, if the Shield did capture Copy 2 and alter him, could make a very dangerous character.
