I just noticed that Marvel already has a supervillain named Lodestone who is a criminal and has magnet powers.
"I treasure every day with you, darling." "No need to be so sappy, love." "You know that's how she is, Nia." - AU!Pyra, Nia, MythraEh, she's very obscure and not a cyborg. Hey Marvel also has a Dragon Man, but it's a Living Statue so I allowed our version.
And then there's Amethyst, Hero of Gem World, or something.
And the other Amethyst.
And let us not forget our dear friend, Master Splinter!
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name....I don't get that joke.
Anyway. As long as character isn't a blatant rip-off of an existing one, I'll allow it. And don't worry if you're ideas aren't that original either- odds are than in centuries of fiction, someone beat you to it already.

And I'm sure whatever the Simpsons did, someone else already done. Besides, I'm just pointing out the fact.

Cape Chasing
Out of the myriad of way one can get super powers, perhaps one of the more fortunate ones is a latent metagene becoming active in times of stress. This had led to many saved lives as some people respond to disaster by gaining the ability to save themselves and perhaps other as well.
It has also lead to many death, given to the rise of the Cape Chaser social phenomenon. People, so damn sure that they are destined for super powers that they commit suicide, positive they'll gain an ability to save them in the nick of time. A few, few, actually succeed, and their success stories only spur on copy-cats.
I have actually seen this idea before, and given the crazy things people do IRL, it would make sense. But first we need to determine if stress-activated powers are a thing in our verse.
Even if they aren't, it's possible people would still do stupid things to get powers, like exposing themselves to radiation or summoning demons or the like.
I guess
Btw Emily, both Sewer King and One Eyed King have been put on the Inactive list by request of their players.
Though I still intend to use Superior Industries and its related characters.
Oh and you can go ahead and post a description of Hazel's shop so I can have Simon check it out.
Sure thing!
(Also, still waiting for Mindseye and Dr. Norris' conversation to continue.)

Thanks! I will be posting about the shop soon. I might need to take over your characters for a short while.
I'll also post re: the museum later. But I warn you now it's going to be a dead end, since OEK is no longer in the game.
Okay!
(I figure Mindseye will find the mask has disappeared and have a nervous breakdown at some point.)
Awaiting for things on the plane to pan out for Amethyst:
Meanwhile...
Alvarium animus
A human-like species with some insectile feature, such as scattered carapace on their frames and a second pair of huge multifaceted eyes in their brows. Their skin color ranges in the red spectrum, different ethnicities running the gamut of orange and rose. The carapace and bug-eyes will normally be the same color on a given individual, oddly enough having colors matching human eyes (brown, green, blue, etc), while their regular human-like eyes will match their skin.
A psionicly gifted race with the unique claim to fame in the galaxy that they are made of "individual hive minds". Individual minds will have several bodies, all of them female and birthing clones of each other. The life-span of these bodies matches the galactic standard until later generations begin suffering from genetic degradation, stretching the life-span of these minds far beyond said standard. "Sexual maturity" is reached when a breeding body is produced, a male or a female body geared for non-clone reproduction, depending on the gender of the mind. This will produce a body with its own individual mind that will, in time, birth more bodies for itself.
I am undecided on the matter of the effect of distance.
Besides the hive mind, the alien species identified as alvarium animus has a strong inclination towards psionic powers. When their race first entered Stage 2 Sociological Development, the species wide unity under a single government considered necessary before entering the galactic stage, their technology favored the discovery of a psychic realm for their FTL. This has become the norm for societies dominated by their species. Stage 3 Sociological Development, the post-FTL species disunity considered the norm after the wide open galaxy is discovered, led to a more militant break-away faction discovering a different method for FTL.
And here is where I suggest using the alvarium animus as a member of the Invasion, if not the sole species, if that's where anyone else might want to go.

Oh that's a thing - do we reckon this world has weird special locations like Atlantis or the Savage Lands?
...someone might have already introduced some, I dunno >_>
Atlantis is pretty much a given- virtually every speculative fiction setting has its own version of Atlantis. A Savage Lands type place could be fun too.
Is there a way to combine the two?
edited 2nd Sep '16 6:03:22 AM by emilyorthoclase
could combine them by using another spec-fic nonexistent place?
Example - The Lost Continent
For centuries scientists had been debating the concept of Mu - the lost continent. A mythical landmass supposedly the originator of many civilisations, thought to have been obliterated almost overnight, falling into an abyss of fire. Evidence was largely lacking, until a mysterious island in the Atlantic surfaced in the 1950s, leading to the disappearance of several exploratory planes.
Contact was finally made with the island in 1997 by explorers William Cauty and James Drummond. They found a peculiar ring of crystal structures that interfered with electronic technology and radio signals and beyond it, vast jungles and ancient ruins. People and monsters lived there, a people with peculiar powers, now setting their sights at long last on the outside world...
Well that's how the explorers told it. The Ambassador for Lost Mu finds the imperialist version of events that made it to the mainland somewhat laughable. In actuality Mu had been planning contact with the outside world for decades and was attempting to reconfigure itself culturally and technologically to allow such contact to be peaceful and productive. When the original continent had been destroyed - by what method the modern inhabitants don't know - a small section of the ancient culture threw itself forward in time via a vast geomantic ritual. They were looking for a brighter future. Whether or not they've found one is still a subject of debate.
Yay! We have our first Alien Race! And yes, since its the only current one we'll have to assume they were behind 'The Invasion'. Unless a new one is invented before that gets referenced in-game.
So far the only hidden civilization is Lemuria, your typical Atlantis except in the Pacific, one of the Gemholders is from there. Details TBA. But I like Mu, if there's no opposition I'm adding it to the Concepts list.
I'm kinda lost. What's going on?
A try way battle between a giant robot spider, a giant robot, and a dragon-human hybrid.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Still waiting for plane stuff, unless I missed something.
I originally threw in the NEXUS so those supers in the park would have something to fight against, but nobody reacted.
Also the airplane is a dead end, they didn't even know Lodestone was aboard. Still I'll post something about it so Amethyst can go do something else. Like fight the Mechs.
Re: The alvarium animus, Planet of Hats and Sociological Development
An that I PM'd to Sijo
Okay, playing around with Planet of Hats, this concept is inspired by Stellaris. Species normally go through the following stages of sociological development. There is a pre-FTL stage where the species is separated into different nations, considered too disorganized to get too far from their home planet. Second, a stage where they unite under one government, before or right after discovering FTL, usually considered necessary to pull it off or a natural consequence thereof. Third, a stage where there interstellar empire fractures, off-shoot factions taking advantage of the vastness of space to dick off and do their own thing. The animus species are not the oldest space farring civilization, but they're fairly old as these things go.
Now, not every species follows this development, just most. Some species manage to shoot for the stars before reaching their second stage (and therefore, likely, never will). Some species manage to avoid the third stage, maintaining a monocultural grip. A few actually skipped the first stage, their psychology some factors lending to them being a united people from the get-go.

Ok that's all from TALOS for now. More soon.
