That part was intimidating for me, but it was easier than I expected it to be.
For the record, Bug Fables is Spaceballs.

IIRC most people consider AOTC worse than TPM, mainly for the romance scenes. ...Color Splash is seriously underrated in my opinion. (Lol, typed 'onion' there XD)

The Protomen enhanced my life.Really? I thought people found AOTC better because it had a more exciting plot and had better structure IE Anakin and Obi-Wan being clear main characters and no insane 4 part climax.
But on the topic these comparisons, does this mean people will start defending the 2nd Paper Mario trilogy if the third one sucks?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. That’s a very biased take on TLJ, I should think.
Like, “easily the worst”, come on.

Oh God! Natural light!People like to shit on TLJ, it's easy fodder. Big surprise.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I wonder what will be the Paper Mario equivalent of the sequel trilogy?
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I would say the last three fit the mold of the prequel trilogy pretty well all things considered. Only difference is I think Attack of the Clones is generally considered worse than Phantom Menace whereas Sticker Star (which would be the equivalent phantom menace) is considered the worst one here. Albeit Rotten tomatoes seems to disagree with me here...
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midAnd if we're going into sequel trilogy territory, I really don't look forward to the Troubled Production antics and contradictory visions the second and third entries will bring for Paper Mario.

Well I would and I think that's a typical opinion. Ewoks being a big offender. For me it's always been Vader's redemption, and I'd say Empire has the best story as well. But return was still pretty good.
Now I'm wondering what would paper jam be represented by? That clone wars movie?
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI do kinda get feeling after playing Bug Fables that if there were more paper mario clones, I wouldn't really miss original Paper Mario games ^^;
Like besides the being able to be more creative since no nintendo executive decisions on how you are able to present mario world, there is also story and gameplay benefit for lack of Mario <_<
Like story telling wise, Paper Mario has to be written around Mario being silent protagonist who is beloved and universally popular where all companions are more interesting characters and talk for them. While its all fine and all, it does mean there aren't much interesting banter or such, especially since you have only one partner out at time.
Mechanics wise similar dealio, Mario is main star while partners are more of helpers, so Mario and partners have different mechanics to them :'D Mario is customizable, partners not really.
It was true all along...
That the new Paper Mario games can do better writing-wise in terms of character, since the partners in OK actually get more than just contextual line alternatives.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
I've largely reached the same point with Paper Mario and stuff like Bug Fables. Nintendo seems keen on a specific direction with the former, and while a few years ago I would have been really put off by Origami King, with spiritual successors to the original games like BF showing up in the indie scene, PM going off in its own weird journey is something I can be fairly zen about.
In fact I'd be willing to say with OK that unlike Sticker Star or Color Splash which were very flawed executions of a role playing game, the former is a solid attempt at being an enjoyable action adventure title (albeit with RPG elements that don't really feel like they entirely fit anymore). Its the first time since SPM that I can say a Paper Mario game is succeeding at what its going for, even if its not necessarily the kind of title I'm interested in

This is the best Origami King review I've seen. Major spoilers!
What a cute thumbnail! <3
The Protomen enhanced my life.I watched it before. I apparently liked it, since I literally pushed the like button, but I forgot what it said. So now I'm rewatching it!
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI finally got around to playing Origami King. Or more accurately continued playing it.
Soon after it came out last year I played just past the Red Streamer, and about five days ago I picked it up again.
I'm not finished with it yet, but I've just arrived at the final area Peach's Castle. And I don't think my opinion of it will change too much with the rest.
I think its a bit of hard game to rate really. I really disliked the combat system. It's fine for the bosses, I enjoy those a lot. But I just think its too much mental effort for the regular enemies for no reward. So in almost all cases I tried to avoid enemies at all costs.
But everything except for that was great. It's a gorgeous game, and really very funny. Exploring the environments is a delight.
I can't help but think it would only be improved if they'd copied the Super Paper Mario system and fused it with the Paper Mache enemies. Almost every time I get into a fight while exploring the landscape, I just want it over as soon as possible as I can keep interacting with the world.
The storytelling was really good too and I loved talking to all the NP Cs. Although I have to admit, while I didn't really compare it unfavorably while playing it. Thinking about it compared to PM, TTYD and SPM does remind me of things I liked better in how those games were written and connected. Although I'll admit I'm likely biased by how that same opinion got thrown around a lot last year. The widespread opinions like the lack of unique NP Cs.
All in all, I'd probably give it a 7 out of 10. Although if not for the ring system I think it would be a solid 8 or 8.5.
I'll finish the rest of the game off tomorrow morning, but I probably won't spend the time getting 100% for each area.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobOrigami King at least used Bowser in a unique way that alone makes it better than SS or CS.
Mileena MadnessI was about to get pissy at you for dissing Superstar Saga lol
Think they meant Sticker Star.
Worst use of Bowser ever.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Has one of his best poses though...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I watched the gameplay of The Origami King around the end of the previous year.
I think King Olly could've been more interesting if he had more screen time, but it was still an enjoyable experience (I liked the visuals, the music, and Olivia's character).
So I've been developing a Dimentio-centric for months, and it has recently progressed a bit.
I've come up with Dimentio telling Count Bleck something along the line of what Flowey says in New Home during the Genocide Route of Undertale. Since the original line is lengthy, I only quote relevant parts of it:
[...]
I realized those two were useless. I became despondent. I just wanted to love someone. I just wanted to care about someone.
[...]
It doesn't matter now. I'm so tired of this, [Player]. I'm tired of all these people. I'm tired of all these places. I'm tired of being a flower. [Player]. There's just one thing left I want to do. Let's finish what we started. Let's free everyone. Then... let's let them see what humanity is REALLY like! That despite it all... This world is still "kill or be killed!!"
Then...? Well. I had... Been entertaining a few ways to use that power. Hee hee hee... ... But seeing you here changed my mind. [Player]... I think if you're around... Just living in the surface world doesn't seem so bad.
[...]
Why am I telling you all of this? [Player], I said it before. Even after all this time... You're still the only one that understands me. You won't give me any worthless pity!
Creatures like us... Wouldn't hesitate to KILL each other if we got in each other's way.
For context, for those unfamiliar with my project, this version of Dimentio is descended from the Tribe of Ancients, which gives him magic, but he was raised in an environment that was detrimental but in the opposite way to the one Blumiere lived in. While Blumiere was born to and raised by the extremely nationalistic Tribe of Darkness away from the outside world (his father's treatment of Timpani didn't help), Dimentio is likely to have been brought up like the Lost Generations of the Australian Aborigines. And he relates to Blumiere/Count Bleck over hiding anger behind a "there's nothing wrong" demeanor.
The thing is that I have no idea what Bleck would think of the above passage.
Thoughts?
My biggest weakness was the spin-rings-to-make-a-picture puzzles. I died so many times to the final boss's final form the timer went to 90 seconds and I had to look up what to do.
