Hey tropers, the day has arrived. If you were one of our Kickstarter donators last year you've probably seen us tinkering with a new design for months. Within the next couple hours (depending on how fast your DNS updates you'll start hitting our new servers with the updated version of TV Tropes). A huge thanks to those of you who have been monitoring it and giving us feedback throughout the development process. Some of the new features include:
- Updated design throughout for a cleaner browsing experience
- One click sign in with Facebook
- Random Shuffle button to stay on a namespace (hit Random Media then the Shuffle button to randomize that namespace)
- Browse Watchlist in an image view
- History page now highlights sentences that were deleted/added to make it easier to review changes
- New image uploader with built in crop function
- New About Us page so you can see who we are.
- Contact Us form
- Trope Depictions on the home page (artists can submit their own comic to go with a trope)
- Bug List page Query Bugs (and Query Wishlist for tech wishes) to organize and track bugs on the site.
Ok. Let the feedback begin. (See Anxiety Tropes for my current feelings)
Notes:
- Please do not bother asking for the old design to come back. The lease of the old servers did expire at the day of the changeover, the new ones cannot run the old design.
- You can move the sidebar to the left by going into your profile and selecting Lefthand Sidebar.

So I wasn't sure whether to start a separate thread for this or not, but I've become increasingly uncomfortable with the whole Community Showcase sidebar added by 1.3. It seems to be a step backwards on the fairly hard-fought principle that TV Tropes as a whole shouldn't endorse (or attack) individual works, and it's particularly troubling since there doesn't seem to be much oversight regarding what goes there. The thing that really drives it home for me is a recent thread in Ask The Tropers where a number of people expressed discomfort with a rather gory image from "Twisted Tropes", one of the occupants of that sidebar, being put prominently on the front page.
I dunno how much any of this counts for with the siterunners - but I thought I should at least mention it.

The community showcase has been there since before 1.3. I have always just regarded it as furniture to decorate the sidebar. Like a sitemap or something. It takes the role of a web ring, more or less from what I can tell, and is not a works showcase of any kind.
Was it previously hidden if you disabled forum gingerbread or something? Because I definitely don't recall seeing it before the last major update.
The only thing I can tell you for sure is, I managed to navigate to the community showcase page in 2015.
The disappearing/reappearing scrollbar is really annoying and inconvenient (I'm not talking about the same scrollbar problem I've been having, I'm talking about the scrollbar for the whole wiki in general). Is it really necessary?
Are you on a phone? TV Tropes is a standard website, and that means the main scrollbar is the browser's scrollbar. The only devices I know that hide a main browser scrollbar are phones. They do this because the drag/swipe/whatchamacallit gesture replaces the scrollbar functionally.
Nope. PC.
I'm not entirely sure where to put this, but https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/StarcraftIIHeartOfTheSwarm was vandalized by a user named dy031101 recently by mixing up the YMMV and Character pages for Starcraft II.
Can we get a reset with this page?
RLLThat sounds like something that should actually go on Ask The Tropers.
Alright then. Like i mentioned, I didn't know where I was supposed to go about it.
RLLSo, is anyone going to work on the "click to view context" thing for the new lines, like I suggested? Because I hate having to scroll through a page to find out where the line is.
You can add it to the wishlist if you want.
Did you mean the Tech Wishlist?
No, Query Wishlist is a soft redirect to a TV Tropes page.

[shuts up]
Why is it in red, though?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Clearly it's something to add to Query Bugs.
... which also shows up all-red. At least Ask The Tropers and YKTTW are orange.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I've already put up the request.

Quick check.
Editing this post.
Only seems to happen with some threads.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay, the momentary duplication issue was almost certainly a case of posts edited immediately as the forum code changeover happened. If you see any more, let us know.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't know if this is happening anywhere else, but for some reason my RP's thread page count isn't going past page 19449, even though we've made it to page 19453 since then. (Said pages are still accessible if you type in their page numbers in the thread URL.)
Also, page 19449 has the Add Post button attached, but any posts made will end up on that page with an incorrect page number.
