So while the Reignited modding community has slowed down, that's not to say that it's dead.
Behold! The first original level mod that isn't just a port of an existing level from another game.
Having played through it though, I'd say it's more impressive on a visual 'holy crap a fan-made level finally happened!' Front compared to an actual gameplay perspective. It's neat seeing Artisans expanded like this, but a lot of the challenges are... Not very fun to say the least. There's a lot about the actual meat of it that screams 'babbeh's first level mod', especially when it comes to what the Mod maker seems to consider 'difficult.
That said seeing the Dragon Elders actually populating the level once you save them was a very nice touch. Also seeing Ember and Flame in PS1 graphics really threw me for a loop. Nice to see they haven't been forgotten by at least some of the Classic fanbase.
First official hint that Spyro 4 is in production.
Now it's just a matter of waiting.
I wonder who'll be in charge of production? I REALLY hope it's still Toys For Bob. I loved their take on Spyro with the Reignited Trilogy, and would love for them to actually be able to do something new with the series.
I'm PRETTY sure they have at least two development teams, seeing as they started working on Crash 4 while doing the reignited Trilogy (or I'm pretty sure they did), so hopefully that means that they've had a Spyro team working away on a Spyro 4 while they've also been doing Crash 4.
Prepare for 2000 gems per stage.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)I could actually see them doing that, especially if they take the Super Mario Odyssey approach to level design.
SoundCloudJust finished Spyro 1 for the Switch. I had vague memories of playing that game with a friend on his PlayStation, so it was fun playing through the whole thing.
I've always been impressed by how short the intro is — here's the setting, here's the antagonist, here's the inciting incident, now go do some platforming!
Gotta say, though — no wonder Gnasty Gnorc never made a return appearance. All the bosses in the first game barely qualify as such, but having your Big Bad spend most of his boss fight running away is just not a good look.
Come to think of it, Spyro doesn't really have anyone to be the Bowser to his Mario — or should I say the Cortex to his Crash. Rypto comes closest, but a lot of his appearances were in games not fondly remembered, or not remembered period.
Also, dude loses his magic scepter in the opening cutscene of the second game! Just kick his ass right then, save yourself several levels of platforming!

I just started Spyro 1 on the PS 4 (unfortunately, my copy of Reignited is a first print run copy, so I had to wait to install Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon), and I'm liking what I've played. Which is kinda important as I tend to struggle with collect-a-thon games (I'm terrible at navigation).
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Spyro kind of helped me fine-tune my spacial awareness at 7 years old; still, you can toggle up minimaps (the originals only had that in 2, but with a better palette).
x3 Gnasty did return in A Hero's Tail as the first boss. He actually puts up a fight there.
If there is a Spyro 4, I'd like more characters to play as. I would very much like to play as Bianca or a new character wielding a sword.
By the way, even though I've beaten all 3 games of Reignited, I still need to ask for advice. Gnasty Gnorc was annoying to deal with. I couldn't get the first hit on him for a long time. I know I need to hit him while he's standing on that pedestal but he always wound up running away. Really I only defeated him by accident.
Bad news necro: the dream of a new Spyro is dead. Toys For Bob is now a Call of Duty support studio.
Former TFB artist Nicolas Cole has confirmed layoffs and they are only on Call of Duty at the moment

Yeah, it is not like the 3 recent Crash games weren't all developed by different studios anyway...
Just wait and see.
I mean, Toys for Bob did good work. The IP wont die, but the studio is buried
Mega Man fanatic extraordinairex5: I am teeming with fury right now...
I think that a different team could do Spyro.
Also I am not pleased with Activision. I also hate Call of Duty.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!WTF, Activision? First Vicarious Visions, now Toys for Bob? It's like they hate success or something.
No, it's like they hate anything that isn't Call of Duty.
I'm not happy, Activision. NOT. HAPPY.
I know someone else could just do Spyro 4, but I really liked the Reignited Trilogy, especially its overall aesthetic and character designs (especially the unique designs for the Elder Dragons), so I would really hate to see it possibly go to waste unless they carry it over to whoever would do Spyro 4.
"Okay, yeah, I guess Ollie fits the goofy sidekick role, but being a princess doesn't mean I spontaneously sing about everything, 'kay?"Honestly, I really dislike the modern AAA game industry as a whole. Because apparently everything has to be a big budget blockbuster game that looks hyper realistic. And I’m just done with it.
Like I’d much rather buy Crash and Spyro and let Call of Duty die.

Yeah. Make the next Call of Duty pretty much a spiritual sequel to Spec Ops: The Line and shove all the COD fanboys into such a deep depression, that they won't be able to even will themselves into excitement for another COD.
Torch that godforsaken franchise and roast marshmallows over the fire. And then run.

Jeez calm down fellas. I'm not a Call of Duty fan either and share your disappointment, but it ain't the franchise's fault the developers decided to focus on it at Spyro's expense.
The part that shocks me was I was under the impression the games they've made so far have all been successful and well received, shoving them off to COD is a really baffling move given that as far as we know they ain't fucked up in any real way. Like even EA waits for a Dev to screw up before destroying their company usually, so even by EA logic this is bizarre.
