The group in the library would be able to hear a pair of faint voices and a pair of footsteps, slowly growing louder as they caught up to the other individuals interrogating the strange receptionist.

"Wow, Rick, it's, it's like the biggest library in the multiverse! That's, uh, you gotta admit, that's pretty neat."

"Twenty per-percent right as usual, Morty. You haven't seen sssshit until you've seen the Library of Saglonimus VII. It's an entire planet, Morty, just an entire planet of books, and they, and they collect every work of literature in the galaxy there. They have, they have like every single dirty book anyone ever wrote. An entire continent of nothing but smut. It's somethin' else, Morty. You wouldn't believe how many cultures have a local *urp* a local equivalent of a pizza delivery boy."

"Man, Rick, that sounds, that sounds pretty messed up."

"Nah, they put the really, the really depraved stuff at the bottom of a-a-an underwater trench. Not that that stops anyone from goin' down there, Morty. It j-j-just piques people's curiosity. Back*urp*asswards censorship."

It was only a few more seconds before Rick pushed his way into the room, laser pistol in his hand and ready to fire at the slightest provocaoitn. He was meekly trailed by Morty, who was gazing around his surroundings with a mixture of fascination and anxiety. "Alright *urp*, what the fu..." Rick trailed off as he read the nameplate on the library desk. "...Miss Tairee?" Rick groaned and rolled his eyes. "That's, that's the best that you could *urp* come up with? What, is your boss named E. Nigma? Do you have a-a-a-a brother named Pu Zel?"

The duo had arrives just as the strange woman was discussing somebody's need for inspiration. Morty, blithe as ever, walked up to the desk next to Ben, nervously rubbing his hands together as he spoke.

"Uh, I-I-I'm not really, uh, the artistic type. I, uh, don't know how to draw, or uh, paint or anything, if that's okay. Maybe there was, there was a mix-up when you abducted us. So uh, maybe, maybe you could send me and my grandpa home?" He smiled nervously.

"Morty, you, you can't negotiate with these mysterious omniversal sing-singularities." He slapped his hands on the counter and glared into Tairee's face. "If you're going t-t-to keep us prisoner, then at least tell me if there's somewhere where I can get shIIIIIItfaced."

Apparently there seemed to a be giant hulking murderer with blue armor a sword that roared like a beast able to cut a full grown adult person in half with a single swipe. Automatically Shovel Knight was out of the question, as the hero was a few inches shorter then Plague Knight himself and the weapon was a sword. While the alchemist was disappointed that the peasant was not the murderer himself, which would give himself a valid excuse to experiment on him, the actual murderer intrigued Plague Knight, particularly that sword.

He had an idea on what would be able to make a sword roar, but he needed to see it in order to confirm. That was when Danny came in and asked his question.

"Oh, nothing much," Plague Knight said. "Just finding out there's a crazed armored murderer on the loose with a sword that can cleave a full grown adult in two with a single strike and that we have our first character witness," he explained with all the tact and subtlety of a rabid bull while presenting the peasant.

Ben looked extremely confused when Rick and Morty arrived in the library. He winced back, not wanting anything to do with these two. This was about the point when he had overheard Plague Knight explaining to Danny. He pulled himself down from his tiptoes and made his way instead to where Plague Knight and Danny were talking. His stomach could wait.

"What's this about a guy with a sword?" he asked. "Cause if there's a bad guy on the loose, Ben Tennyson is on the job! I've dealt with mad scientists, evil wizards, and lots of alien bad guys. I can handle a guy with a sword." He grinned widely, eager to prove his skills to the rest of the group.

The spear fell from her grip and faded. "Fine. If there's really no way out, I guess I'll play your game." She grinned. "But I'm not gonna give up hope! I WILL get out of here."

Then she turned and walked over to the peasant man, holding up her hands to show she meant no harm.

"Hey, uh, sorry about scaring you. I'm as confused as you are about all this. I just was worked up 'cause I got worried about my friends back home, and, well, I can get... hot-headed... at times." She grumbled, looking away. "So... I sincerely apologize." Undyne looked back at him and grinned. "Tell you what. How about I find this swordsman and beat the hell out of him? Would that make it up to you?"

"You love resorting to violence, do you?" Plague Knight snarkily asks Undyne. "Luckily, that is exactly the type of attitude we need for this situation! Can't have a psychopath cutting down innocent civilians for absolutely no reason! Or worse, some undefined reason that makes sense only to him alone....."

Looks like Ben and Undyne had finally calmed down, and from the sounds of it they weren't being let off from this crazy place until probably way later. That just wouldn't do for Gentaro. How many of his friends would notice he was gone? What about his grandpa?? School??? ...Well, Gentaro was pretty alright with missing school, but any cramwork he'd have to put in when he got back was really offputting to him.

He leaned over Miss Tairee's desk and asked her, "Isn't there a way we can at least, like, mail home? I don't want my friends and family worrying about me or nothing."

Gentaro had made known his desire to contact his family and friends. Rex stopped him knowing what the receptionist was going to say.

"Don't even bother. Lady bookworm here won't help us. I'm still waiting for my pizza."

Hearing what the man had said about the woman being brutally murdered Rex put on his goggles and asked him where he had seen the swordman.

"Something tells me this guy is going to regret having killed that woman."

Gon made his way inside by following the voices. He walked carefully since he didn't know his way around. It was until he heard comments talking about some kind of murder going on that got the assassin interested.

Let's see where this goes.

He was able to see the group gathered near Ms. Tairee, which meant that he was in the right place.

At least for now.

As Travis made his question, Alice turned to face him

"I figure from the sounds of those that are interested, I likely won't be needed for a fight." she then looked up at the thousands upon thousands of bookshelves upstairs for a moment before looking back at them "Besides, if everyone focused on the same task we won't be able to do achieve much, while you go deal with that problem, I will investigate more about this city. This is a library so there has to be something of use here."

Granted that while she did want to investigate the library further in order to get a better understanding about the world she was in, at the same time she was trying to find an excuse to separate herself from the group even if momentarily, all so that she could have some private time to take it all in and figure out the best course of action in peace.

Josuke rubbed his neck when the younger teens wanted to join the demon hunting party, a bit worried. 'Course, he wasn't sure what their experience was with murderous lunatics; might even be greater than his, but, he felt he should let them know what they might be getting into.

"Oy, just to be clear; from what we know about this guy, he just popped in and cut a woman in two for no reason." He made sure to note, to Ben especially. "If it's really as bad as Mr.Blood and Guts says, we're not gonna be able to deliver an ass-kicking to this thing and make it say sorry."

"...If it comes down to it, we're gonna have to kill 'em." Josuke said seriously, directing it towards both Ben and Danny. "You sure y'all are up for that?"

Ben's excited grin slowly turned into a worried frown as Josuke started to explain what was at stake. "But... I'm a hero," Ben murmured quietly. "I don't kill people... that's not what heroes do. He put on a determined expression. "Either way. I can't just let some big guy with a sword hurt people like that. And I'm not gonna sit back and watch when people die! I'm a hero, and I'm gonna take the fight to them! Who's with me?!"

"Via a trading of ???, the ??? can be made reality."

Fabricated World

"Okay, stay still! It'll only take a little while!"

With that said, the small blonde-haired girl picked up the first crayon and began her drawing, humming cheerfully as the colored stick skidded through the sketchbook she was holding. Her models, as usual, did not oppose to the idea of collaborating with Mary's new art project. Both the younger one, a brown-haired girl called Ib, and the older one, an adult purple-haired man called Garry, sat in complete silence and with their eyes closed while the artist in the green dress worked. Next to Mary, a creepy blue doll with messy black hair and red eyes played assistant, picking up whatever crayon Mary requested and handing it to her. This went on for a few minutes, until Mary finally jumped up from where she was sitting, and lifted her sketchbook into the air.

"It's done!"

After hurriedly picking up all the crayons from the floor, she rushed to show her creation to her models, the blue doll following suit. Her excitement made her almost accidentally smack Ib in the face with the sketchbook while she was trying to show them her latest creation.

"Look Ib, Garry! Isn't it pretty?"

No response came from either of the two people she addressed. They merely remained sitting there, not even making a single gesture to acknowledge they'd heard her at all. It was at this point that Mary's joyful smile began to vanish. Back at the welcome party, she'd thought that the three of them would get along really well and have lots and lots of fun together. But ever since then, they hardly ever did anything. They simply lied on the floor all the time, and she had to drag them around just to get them to go with her anywhere. They wouldn't even open their eyes to look at her drawings. Even though she was with them, it made her feel... lonely.

Still, Mary had promised that she would treat her friends right, and that was what she was going to do, no matter what.

"Alright," she muttered, her voice lacking all the entusiasm it had earlier. "Let's go back to my room, okay?"

However, her hands suddenly froze before she could get ahold of Ib and Garry. In fact, everything around her froze as well. The blue doll, which had decided to jump on Garry's head to enjoy a ride back to Mary's room, was suddenly stuck in midair.

«Huh..? What is going on?»

The fabricated girl soon found herself losing sight of everything around her. No gallery walls, no jumping blue doll, no Garry, no Ib, no nothing. There was nothing but an unsettling darkness around her. She instinctively tried to call out for Ib and Garry, but she couldn't even say a word. She couldn't move, she couldn't blink, she couldn't do anything. She was completely alone in the constricting darkness. Then a gust of air and blinding light hit her...

Unknown City

The second she regained her movement, Mary automatically covered her face and lowered her head as much as she could, helped by the sketchbook she was still holding in her hand. Eventually, she managed to adjust to the new light, and she dared look around for a bit.

She barely believed her eyes once she did.

The gallery she had lived in since her very creation had been replaced by lots and lots of buildings of all shapes and sizes, all of which were pointing up towards a bright blue sky with a few clouds. Behind her, the floor went on for a few feet, then it suddenly ended, and beyond that there was only more sky.

That sudden change of scenery could only mean one thing.

"I'm... outside..?"

She was outside.

"...I'm outside! I'm outside!" she suddenly exclaimed, her face lighting up with excitement as she started jumping around. "I'm outside! I'm finally out here! Yaaay!"

The celebration went on for several seconds, until she finally realized that she wouldn't really get to do anything fun just by jumping around.

"I need to go look around!" she decided, already making her way towards the huge city in front of her while thinking about all the cool things she would finally be able to do. "This will be so fun!"

Inside the library

The conversing seemed to go without Miss Tairee for a bit as most of the group concerned themselves with the tale of the demonic figure murdering another person in the city. Of the questions and such directed to her, Miss Tairee responded to Legion first.

"Your objection is noted, however I am not the one who made the decision; I simply work for him" Miss Tairee told the geth, then looked to Gentaro as his question was among a similar vein to answer, "and currently no sort of communication into or out of the dimension has been made possible. But if either of you would like to leave some feedback..." She trailed off, and pointed one hand with an open palm up at the suggestion box on the counter.

It was Rex's comment about Tairee herself that next got her attention. "As a matter of fact sir, it currently is my job to help you, within certain limits" Miss Tairee said, a bit indignantly as she was still typing on her machine, "I'd like to see you write pizza into existence out of nothing; it's not as easy as snapping my fingers. Besides, I don't know what kind you want yet." With a few more key clicks, and a brief blur in the air, an unlabeled bottle of strong scotch appeared on the desk directly in front of Rick's face.

"There are a few bars and nightclubs in the city that have alcoholic beverages on hand; I believe that should tide you over until you manage to find one sir" Miss Tairee explained to him, then glanced at Morty. "Trust me young man, there was no mistake."

Miss Tairee then got up from her seat and moved out of the desk. She seemed to be addressing everyone now, though she specifically moved over to Alice since she was the one to ask originally. "You're all free to stay wherever in the city you please for the duration of your stay. Personally I would recommend one of the apartment complexes or houses; some place that has a bed. And you're all free to borrow items from the library at your leisure" Miss Tairee announced. "Now, was there anything else I could help you with?" she asked, then after thinking about the direction their conversation had been going, added, "that doesn't involve me leaving this building."

During all this, the peasant man had slowly managed to stop sobbing and looked at the group, particularly Undyne, with some hesitation; there was still a bit of fear lingering in him. "That's brave of you all, but, I fear your strengths may not be enough. The demon was huge; it would tower over any of you, and I'm not even sure it would stand at full height in this room" the peasant man warned them. "But if you must know, it happened off that way, where the city edge meets the abyss" he continued, pointing off into the city through the closest set of revolving doors.

Of course what not all of the group knew yet was that the man pointing back based on the doors he came in through was pretty much pointless; if they were to find this demon, it would have to be mainly by luck... Or maybe by following screams.

In the city

Walking through the city, Mary would see all sorts of buildings: restaurants, a bar, a store, a big office building, a house, a bank, the list went on. From what she knew of the outside world, this would probably seem fairly accurate to her.

But then there was the people. The people walking around on the streets looked fairly lost, and more often than not, also a bit scared. They were also not all human, as attested by the half person, half spider nearly the size of a car that ran up a building just down the street from her, and the group of short, green figures with big ears who had broken the front windows of a furniture store and were now apparently trying to rob it with questionable success. (Mainly because the only goods they could find were furniture that they were having trouble moving around, due to their size.)

On the sidewalk near her, she could hear two young men having a conversation. "Hey man, didn't we just take three lefts?" the first one asked the second. He was wearing a suit and tie combo that was currently shifting through all the colors of the rainbow in a sequential pattern.

"Yes, what about it?" the second one asked back. He seemed to be wearing a naval uniform akin to that of the Victorian era British navy.

"So, we went in a circle" the first went on.

"Yes, and?" the second asked again.

"So shouldn't there be an ice cream parlor here on this corner?" the first pointed out, motioning to the building next to them; the sign on it read, 'printers and tones!' and it seemed to be a simple electronics shop.

"... Why yes now that you mention it... This city grows stranger with every passing moment" the second muttered.

Rick grabbed the bottle of scotch in one hand. Keeping one resentful eye on the mysterious woman, he poured the contents of the bottle into his hip flask and gratefully chugged down a less-than-healthy dosage. "Al-alright, Morty. You heard the weird reality-bending lady. Time to, time to get ourselves comfy." said Rick after holstering his flask. note  "I'm gonna, I'm gonna go try and find a place to store my shit." He waved vaguely at Tairee as she turned "Thanks, uh, thanks for the drink, I guess. Doesn't really cancel out the whole 'forced multiversal reconstruction' shit, though." Rick pulled out his portal gun and a screwdriver, tinkering and tapping with his faithful gadget as he spoke.

"Aw jeez, Rick! Th-th-there's a really, a really crazy, uh, demon murderer on the loose out there! You can't just, you can't just go out there alone!"

"Ugh, relax, Morty. We got, we got a whole bunch of *urp* idealistic teenage superheroes on the case. It's gonna be, it's gonna be like a Saturday morning cartoon. They'll catch him and t-t-they'll learn a valuable lesson about teamwork and, and eating your vegetables or something, Morty."

"Aw, c'mon! You gotta help 'em, Rick! You can, m-m-make a, a demon detector or something!"

"J-j-jesus, Morty ,what do I look like, a priest? They're, they're fine on their own. L-l-look," he slurred, grabbing Morty by the shoulders and turning him toward the rest of the group. "That guy with the white hair is, he's a ghost; he can, he can fly right through walls, Morty. He's, he's made out of fucking ectoplasm or something. And then that kid can turn into a wh*OOOO*le bunch of, really strong aliens. He can t-t-t-urn into a ghost too, Morty." rambled Rick.

"Boy, Rick, there, uh, there sure are a lot of ghosts on our side, huh?"

"Yeah, Morty, it's gonna be great. They, they've got this shit, Morty. I mean, and if they don't cut the, cut the mustard, then that guy, he's, he can turn into weapons, Morty. Demons are a p-p-p-pre-indust-indust-they're a preindustrial culture, Morty. They, they won't even be able to comprehend how that guy is going to fuck them up."

"Oh man. I mean, I guess if you, uh, if you say so, Rick." Morty smiled nervously and wrung his fingers together. "Just, just be careful, okay?"

"Yeah, don't even, don't even *urp* trip, dawg." Rick fired his retrofitted portal gun; a glowing green beam of light shot across the room and onto the opposite wall, forming a swirling, gelatinous mass of energy. Rick sauntered over to the portal as if were the most casual thing in the world, leaning back and looking at the rest of the room as if he were making a mundane grocery run.

"I'm going looting. Anyone, uh, anyone wanna come with?"

A strange thought. This Miss Tairee was merely on the clock. She wasn't the cause of their imprisonment. Though it did bring up the thought of how she had been employed.

"If there is no way to communicate with your boss, then how did you come to work under him? Did they approach you?" Legion did not sound hostile. It seemed to internalize the fact Miss Tairee was not the being to have an issue with. It also made a note to drop a note in the suggestion box later.

Josuke frowned a bit at Danny and Ben's insistence, but figured he really had no place to judge whether or not they should join in; they were only a few years younger than him at most. Besides, if worse came to worse, he had his eyes on them, and things under Josuke Higashikata's eyes usually don't get hurt...too badly.

He did make note of Gon's entrance, though the guy seemed fairly normal. "Don't think you should consider what happened back there too harshly; 'Course there's gonna be some conflicts when a bunch of people suddenly appear out of nowhere against their will."

At the peasant man's warning, Jojo gave a small chuckle. "Trust me, size doesn't really matter; we're 'Heroes' right? Thing could be the size of a building and I'd still punch it."

"Besides, what's that thing they always say...?" He seemed to take a moment to think about something, when he apparently 'got it' he snapped to life. "Oh yeah!"

"'The bigger they are, the harder they fall!' right?" The teenager said cheekily, with a wide grin and a thumbs-up. His attempt to break the tension a bit.

Amidst this time, since the man seemed to have calmed down fully, the hulking spirit watching over him silently drifted back towards Josuke, then disappeared once more.

Miss Tairee looked at Legion with a raised eyebrow. "I didn't say there was no way to communicate with my boss. In fact I thought I made it clear that it's just the opposite" Miss Tairee said, indicating the suggestion box once again. "If you want to get really technical, everything you've been saying should be getting to him; probably most of what you've been thinking, too. He can't exactly get inspiration from the city residents if he isn't paying attention to them. I don't think he'll be responding to any attempts to communicate with him directly though; but you're free to try anyway, if it'll make you feel better" she went on further.

"How I came to work for him is not something I need to disclose right now. What I will tell you is that, like all of you, I once lived in another universe... One not too different from yours, if I'm guessing right" Miss Tairee told Legion.

Meanwhile, the peasant man looked at Josuke with a confused expression. "I've never heard that before" the man muttered.

When Josuke mentioned killing the demon, Undyne fell quiet, thinking. Could she kill it? Well, she could, but should she? At one point she might have been roaring for blood, but ever since that child managed to befriend her... well, he'd never killed. Not once. And he'd still gotten a happy ending.

No. This was different. This demon was a threat to everyone here. She would find it, and she would kill it.

I'm sorry, Frisk.

"Well, are we just going to sit here all day, shouting about being heroes, or are we going to go out there and stop this demon?" Undyne said, grinning widely and making for the door, summoning a spear to her hand as she did. "Let's get going, ladies!"

"Acknowledged," Legion said. "Thank you for clarifying about our situation, Miss Tairee. I will be in contact with you in the future. Until then, the group of entities I appeared with are moving out. I will leave a suggestion and follow them."

Legion paused for a moment, its eye flaps moving wildly. "Have a good day." The geth turned towards the suggestion box, wrote something down with incredible speed, and dropped it in, before heading towards the peasant man and the blood, composing a coded message that it would beam out later in an attempt to reach the entity.
