Viola I Tunnels I My Friends are Your Friends Too... Not

I listened on to Seiga's complaints of Karkat, barely surprised. Given how he's been acting to everyone else, I could certainly see her point. Though it hasn't happened yet, people could have a worse opinion of me just for associating with the troll. Case in point: The hermit before me.

Perhaps it would be best that I didn't tell her how I tried to pair them up yesterday, just because. It's a good thing she doesn't know anything about it, and the only one who knows the full story behind it is the simple-minded Yoshika. Else, I could very well see her ending our relation right here and now.

But for now, there's a hermit to console.

"I don't blame you," I simply said, having come up with no words of encouragement for her predicament. "If you want, I could ask Karkat to get off your back. Or at the least, be mindful around you," There's very little chance for that to happen and she is probably aware of that too. But hey, it's the gesture that counts, right?

Then, when she asked about who I was referring, a small, sly smile had crept up onto my face. "Oh, can't you tell? I'm talking about myself, a girl named Viola," I brought one of my hands towards my own chest, to see if she gets the hint. "There's a story behind this, but I'd rather have this talk elsewhere. Who knows if the walls have ears, and just about anyone could come and go around this tunnels as they please,"

"A post per day keeps the GMs away!"

Seiga, Upper Tunnels, As If The Same Mind
"I don't think I'd need your aid there, actually," partially because she wasn't ready to ask for a petty favor from a little girl like that, even if it was Viola. "I met him rather quickly after I woke up, robots attacking us and all, and I coerced much the same thing from him in exchange for some medical aid. It turns out, some robots violently detonate after destruction..."

"...And then, he taught me about how his species reproduces through hatred...or something along those lines. I can't say I want to figure out more. Anyway, back to the original topic," because this one wasn't doing well for her sanity. For that matter, considering there were creatures out there whose sole existence was to vex humanity, that she would meet a normal child of some species who was far more effective at that than anything else was still astounding in her head.

As she was thinking about her friend's ordeal of having to balance enjoyment with personal security, her mind drifted towards her mention of a deal between her and the librarian. Why would such a deal be necessary in the first place? Was their mutual benefactor of sorts even capable of being biased in favor of one person or another? There wasn't any evi-

No, wait, yes there was. Oh dear, there certainly was. Seiga suddenly looked visibly concerned, and started walking back in the direction they came from. Waving Viola to come along, she said, "You know what, you're entirely right! The walls may have ears still. Come, come, I need to talk to you about something very important."

As they moved backwards in progress, Seiga's pace quickened from her usual casual stroll, her face stony and silent. She was moving like she actually had places to be for the first time, suddenly as if there was actually something to worry about in this deathless paradise. The city had shifted since they had last left, and now all there was from there they came was an elevator. For once, the ever shifting nature of the City served their purposes well!

Getting into the elevator, and once Viola had followed along shutting it, Seiga took a quick breath of relaxation. "This should be...a little more private. So, Viola, I need you to tell me everything you know about the circumstances of Mary's reincarnation as a human. What brought it about? What was her connection with this librarian?"

Yoshika, Torpedo Turret, Rapid Reload
The battle was on! For what measure of a battle Yoshika could see. There was a big dot on the green screen thingy that Curly was sitting at, so that might be the lobster...but that was hardly exciting to watch. Hmph.

As soon as Sophie's torpedo went out, Yoshika set her own in. It was a little bit more haphazard than Sophie's loading, because for all she knew these were just large bullets in some kinda giant gun. In any case, it didn't seem to explode just yet, so it went by without a hitch.

Leviathan fight

Cannonbolt's rolling around was starting to grind down and break some more of the rock, especially any pieces that stuck out from their surroundings in the jagged, uneven crater. But if this was causing any problems or pain for the leviathan, it was not immediately evident, least of all to Cannonbolt himself. The leviathan paused its descent as it looked up and saw the glow from Rex's nunchuck spinning around, and then started to move up that way. Rex would see the water around the dock start to surge upwards and away as the red eyes of the leviathan started to close quickly...

Then the first shot of two torpedoes hit their mark in the crater, exploding more chunks of rock out and making the leviathan let out another roar like sound. Cannonbolt was thrown clear of the crater and into open water in an arc, saved from the blast by Lucas' shield, though it fizzled out after that. The leviathan turned around, its tail breaking the surface of the water off to Rex's side and coming his way in its movement; whether he was still there or not, the little dock he was on was about to be broken into several thousand pieces of wood.

The leviathan then charged forward, that now being back down into the water, as Curly got the second volley to fire off towards it. One of these two torpedoes hit one of the smaller claws as it swung upwards, leaving some cracks on the surface; but the second one managed to go past that and clip the edge of the crater on the leviathan's back, gouging part of it a bit deeper again. With how fast the leviathan moved, they would only have time for one more shot of two torpedoes before it would ram into the structure; or if they had something else in mind to try instead...

Underwater tunnels, militia structure

"Nothing I can think of, unless you'd like to write down your account of events for me to read tomorrow" Wells said as one of the militia members opened up the sealed door. Going through led into a large, open room, like a two story tall hangar, with the incomplete airship taking up the middle. It didn't look that much different than when Cole last saw it the day before. Pretty much still the same shape, just now with some more bits filled in between the frame.

"We only have some simple bed rolls I'm afraid, but you're free to help yourself. Same goes for our food and water" Wells informed Cole.

This reminded Nails, who looked at Cole as they walked into the large room. "Hey, did you have any of that bread and water I got you earlier?" Nails asked the spirit.

The pitch dark sea

Cannonbolt was thrown off, as the pain in his insides grew from the lack of oxygen. Cannonbolt couldn't swim. There was only one thing he could possibly do to save himself at this point. He pressed the Omnitrix button on his forehead and the water was filled with a red light. Ben, holding his breath despite how much it hurt and how much he wanted to breathe, started frantically paddling up, towards the surface. If he could just make it, if he could manage to reach the surface....

....just before he managed to get up there, he couldn't take it anymore, the pain was just too great. He managed to gulp a great deal of water, just as he flailed at the surface, splashing loudly. He tried to shout but he could barely make a sound. Then, silence, Ben began to go limp and descend into the depths.

Cole cringed down a bit, but kept close, following along with the group. "I...I, I...I...I d-don't know h-how to write..."

He only hunched down a little more when Nails asked him about the bread and water from before, seeming as though he wanted to just sink into the floor and disappear at the questions. "N-no...I...t-things were m-moving too fast, I didn't...I-I didn't m-mean to d-drop it all, I'm s-sorry...I-I'll b-b-be all right, I-I c-can just stay...s-stay s-somewhere here..."

Yoshika, Torpedo Turret, I've Got a GOOD IDEA
The distant, massive figure of the Leviathan was lit up with the brief explosions of torpedoes, and that was the absolute last thing she had expected. They just shot missiles at the monster? That was sweet, as she helpfully demonstrated with a long utterance of "WooooOOOOAAAaaaahhh!"

When the monster turned in their direction, moving at a decent amount of knots and its red eyes pointing in their direction. Being very familiar with this thing's means of attacking, Yoshika had it in her head that they didn't have much longer to evacuate...

Unless, of course, she didn't have to evacuate. Her mind sprung up an entirely simple plan, that was still unique to her own mind. Only someone with the complete lack of a self-preservative drive, someone entirely focused on the goal of completing her mission, could think of something like this.

"Guys, guys!" She waved a free hand at both of them as she shouted, hoping to stop the ongoing action in its tracks. "I've got an idea! We need to set these to explode before we shoot them! If the lobster runs into all of them at once, it'll be the biggest explosion ever!"

Eve| Library, to battle

Eve had overheard people discussing Mary, whom she had never met, but whose situation struck a chord. If these people judged Mary, who had killed two people, who had no idea of good and/or evil, what would they think of her, who was drenched in the blood of so many, if they knew what she had done? Ben hadn't, but he was naive, and incredibly optomistic. What would they think of her? She had such wonderful friends back home, her partners, Rinslet, Dr Tearju. She didn't know how she would deal with not having friends here. She didn't want to be alone again.

Eve was so involved in her introspections that she failed to notice the plan being completed and implemented, with all the others leaving to go fight the leviathan. When she noticed, she walked outside, then flew to the balcony where she from where she heard the sound from the fight. When she got there, she saw a large...thing go flying, and when it landed in the water she noticed the rather distinctive symbol worn by all of Ben's alien transformations. When saw it go under, and fail to surface, she dived, her wings folding in and disappearing completely, while her legs turned into a tail amd she sprouted gills.

As she broke the water's surface, she followed the distinctive flash of the Omnitrix to where Ben had reached the surface and begun to sink again. Grabbing him she swum back to the surface, pulling him into the nearest building, and attempted CPR.

A building

Ben saw what looked like a fish-like individual approaching him in the darkness, just as he shut his eyes and fell unconscious, still sinking into the depths.

Ben awoke with a start... someone was saving him! He coughed loudly, gasping for breath, spitting out water. Dazed, and taking deep breaths of air, Ben looked around, and then up at the person who had been rescuing him. Eve! She had saved his life. She risked herself by diving in water with that thing around.... to save his life.

"....Eve?" he asked weakly, between breaths. "You.... you saved my life.....? Th-thanks.... I... I thought I was a goner...." His face flushed red at the thought, and a small smile crept onto his face. He looked around weakly, still breathing rather deeply and raggedly trying to get air into his system. "Where... where are we?" he asked quietly.

Blearily, Sylvia opened her eyes. Her head was killing her. "Whah...?

Shaking her head as best as she could, Sylvia looked around. She appeared to be lying on the floor of an unfamiliar library. Or, no, wait—she knew where it was, it was in that weird universe-in-a-bubble place in the middle of the ocean. So she and Wander were still there.

Where was he, anyway? It didn't take long for Sylvia to scan the library floor and find an orange lump passed out a couple of yards away. In his sleep, he'd somehow managed to get his hat stuck over his head, blocking out most of the noise going on outside. She couldn't tell what was happening, but it wasn't making her head any better.

"Is getting knocked unconscious a lot some kind of side effect of this city...?" Sylvia said aloud to herself. Then she saw what might have been a clue in the form of a crumpled packet that had once contained the tea bag she has used earlier. Narrowing her eyes, she scanned the ingredients.

"What the heck is 'powdered root of asphodel?'"

Tracking down and examining Wander's tea packet (it was obviously the one that said 'blorpberry' on it) yielded a similar search. She could only assume that they had very badly misjudged their innocent tea party beverages.

"Welp, that settles it, we're not accepting anything this city gives us." Sylvia cricked her neck and stretched. "Wander, how bout we go outside and see what all the ruckus is about?"

No answer.

"...you're still asleep, aren't you."

Sure enough. Sylvia knew from experience that he could really only be woken up when he wanted to. She just hoped she could keep him from sleepwalking into the ocean and getting eaten by another sea monster.

Sans didn't seem to be too worried, even making a pun out of the situation. But she guessed he was right. Given what they had seem of that guy, there was not really much cause for worry. He also of course made some fun at her expense, to which she blushed but also rolled her eyes a bit.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, back then, that guy was unarmed and it's unlikely that would have changed. And since he is apparently not in Ruckus anymore, he has no back-up to call, while the militia guy Cole is with has that option on his side. So, yeah, I guess I shouldn't worry so much," She said after a while.

She then saw Lune waving at them and waved right back. She hadn't seem the other girl again ever since they had gotten back to the library a while ago. Where she had been?

"Hey there again, Lune. How are you doing?" She called out to her.

As expected, Caro seemed to have gotten the message even if she couldn't resist blushing at the slightest teasing, to which Sans couldn't help but snicker a little. Lune then showed up and asked them how they were doing, apparently she had been spending this whole time staring at nothing.

"heya lune, i'm not really doing anythin' important. i tried taking a nap earlier but i've had a little nightmare, but at least now i won't be sleeping again for..." he said, pausing as he began recalling the events of his nightmare, "... the rest of the night probably." He shrugged.

Library Docks, Riding a Sail with No Wind

Plague leaped into the boat following Thomas and started to releasing the boat from the docks. He then how the Leviathan was starting to descend. However, he noticed exactly what kind of boat he and the young wizard were in.

"A sail boat?!" Plague Knight exclaimed. "There's barely any wind! How are going to - "

That was when he noticed the motor on the back of the boat. To a casual observer, the motor looked like any normal motor boat motor - except the alignment was completely inverted. Instead of the fan portion being underwater, it was instead high into the air, pointed directly at the sail, and the fan was covered by a protective metal mesh, most likely to prevent accidental maiming of anyone touching it.

The knight took a closer look at the motor. "An internal combustion engine?" He looked around some more until finding some sort of handle. He pulled it, revealing a thick cord attached. He yanked the cord, hearing the familiar rumble. It died down, and he tried again. The rumbling was sustained, but died down again. He tried a third time, but then he the creature heading for the library, apparently attracted to some spinning light produced by Rex. The knight tried pulling the cord several more times, each attempt unsuccessful.

He finally managed to get the motor working on the last attempt. The wind from the fan hit the sail, causing the boat to move with a sudden burst of speed, just as the monster's tails destroyed part of the docks nearest to Rex. "HOLD ON!" the alchemist called out. "You see any way to steer this thing?!"

Ara Haan (Library) - The Sleeping Relatively Average Woman

Ara was very surprised to suddenly see Kelsey's eyes slowly close, and clearly a bit startled, but it soon became evident that she was not in danger. Her breathing seemed to be relatively calm, and her body had relaxed significantly.

She was asleep.

"She must have been exhausted..." Ara pondered, picking the young woman up while she glanced at Lucas. "I... think she'll be fine... hopefully... maybe she only needs some rest."

She lied Kelsey down on a nearby couch as gently as she could, and then, with genuine care and dedication... looked at her for approximately five seconds before she decided to hastily return to the table where she had placed some of her belongings.

She had not forgotten what was happening outside, so she had little time to waste getting ready to fight.

Eve stopped CPR when Ben sputtered his way to consciousness. She stood back, before trying to remember what else she knew about drowning. Shock was a concern, but she couldn't see amy blankets around, so she wasn't sure what she would do about that. He was breathing regularly, so hyperventilation wasn't a problem.

Ben shuddered, shivering from being fished out of the cold, salty water. He was soaked, his clothes were soaked. At least he hadn't brought his bag into the water, it was still at the library where Miss Tairee and everyone else was probably keeping a close eye on it. So cold....

He shivered more, looking up at Eve. "That's... that's good," Ben muttered, sounding heavily exhausted. "Remind me... n-not to do that again," he groaned, leaning his head back down on the ground. "I can't... fight that thing. It's... too strong for me. That's like... something Godzilla would fight. Let's just... hope the others can take it out... I just need to rest... rest and s-sleep...." He lay his head down, weakly, shuddering from the cold and his breath becoming more ragged.

Eve|Building

Eve smiled and nodded. That thing was ridiculous. She had hit it with all the force she could muster, and barely caused a scratch. And Ben sounded exhausted. And he was shivering and oh. This wasn't good. Of course he was cold. The water had been cold, and Ben had been in it longer than she had.

Eve looked around frantically. She couldn't afford to move Ben now, since the wind would just make him colder. Hah! There was a blanket. Picking up the ten-year old, she carried him further into the building, closing the door behind them. She wrapped the blanket around him. Looking around the building with more care than the last time, she spotted a fireplace, as well as a trapdoor that appeared to lead into some tunnels under water.

Lighting the fireplace took some effort. She eventually gave up on conventional means and tried something she had seen Sven do once. That also failed. In the end, she had missed something pretty important on the mantelpiece. A tiinder box. Finally managing to light the fire, she moved Ben closer to it, but not close enough so that he might wake up on fire.

Eve sat and watched the fire, adding a log or two if she thought it nessasary.

"Huh, she must have been pretty tired." Jack mumbled to himself as he watched Kelsey sleeping, bemused. He turned to Ara with a grin. "See, everything worked out."

The spirit glanced down at the kid who had wandered over, smiling gently. It hurt every time to see a new kid stuck in this place. "Nah kiddo, she should be fine for now. Not sure how much healing would help her, though. Her problem is... other things."

He watched as Ara picked the sleeping woman up, and kindly and gently moved her to a couch. She was a genuinely kind person, and really sweet. Jack liked her. Without even realizing it, a dopey smile had started to spread across his face as he watched her; His focus jumping from her hair, to her eyes, lips, body and back repeatedly. Lucas was relieved that the woman was just sleeping, though he was worried about her mental state. He could vaguely remember her fighting some pirates when he arrived in the city and she definitely seemed like she was under a lot of mental strain.

Though he wanted to help others out if he could, Lucas was reminded by a flash of pain in his head that he was fatigued. He knew he would just have to sleep off the exhaustion. So he walked over to a couch and basically collapsed into it. He could be woken up, but what kind of monster would do that?

Outside the Library — What was the plan, again?

Rex's plan went off without a hitch. And now the Leviathan was coming right after him. Right, he hadn't really come up with much of a plan, just a few details. Right now was the part where he somehow entered the monster and worked out his issues with whatever a golem had for entrails.

Luckily, a torpedo came out of nowhere and hit the Leviathan on the back. Looks like Rex wasn't the only one fighting that thing right now. This made the creature roar in pain and change directions, moving its tail against the docks. Rex flew out of the way and could see the creature diving to follow whoever had shot it and destroy them. It was time to call its attention again.

"Hey, I wasn't done with you!"

But it was too late. The creature had already swam down and its body was obscured by the water. Rex couldn't hit it underwater and right now the monster was out of his reach. He felt useless but trying to call its attention again was the only thing he could do. He built his cannon and bit off a chunk of wood from the docks to load it.

"I said come back here!" he said, as he shot his weapon in the general direction of the Leviathan.

Viola I Upper Tunnels(Elevator) I Exposition!

I listened on to her dilemmas regarding about the troll, believing that we've reached a proper compromise, somewhat. Well, it's less of a compromise than outright ignoring the problem at hand to a later time, but for me, I count that as good enough.

Soon after, her normally carefree disposition had suddenly turned into that of concern as she usheredcme towards somewhere more private. I was curious, so I followed after her, trying to keep up with her pace with minimal trouble. Something was definitely on her hand, and I've been trying to figure out what.

When we reached upon an empty room at the end of the hall, it was then she began asking about questions to me. "If only I'd known more, I could tell you all about it myself," I sighed. "Alas, that's not the case. What I do know is that the challenge reward itself is unusual, since it affects only one person instead of having City-wide effects, as I'm used to. Or maybe some similar cases does exist in the past, and I just don't know it yet. As for her relation to the librarian... I guess you could say that they're quite close."

Actually, more than close, now that I think about it.

"If you can't already tell, the Librarian is somewhat fond of children. Certainly, Miss Tairee was very concerned about Mary's well-being, to the point where she's willing to defend her actions against others who'd called out against the wrongdoings that she'd done. Now, I'm not one to judge. I don't qualify to do so, since I barely know much about this Mary person myself. But for someone who was supposed to be a neutral mediator to the City... don't you find this a bit troubling?"

... Oh. I think I see the gist of it now.

"If you're worried about our dear caretaker here, then I'm afraid your concerns are well-founded." I explained to her. "I should know. I talked with her myself. Apparently, she doesn't take too kindly as to how I got this healthy body of mine. That the only reason she can't do anything to me is because her boss still has uses for me in his grand quest for inspiration." And, as much as I reassure myself, I can't shake off what she said in the end despite not having any reason to. Her powers only affects those within the confines of the City, and that is so long as the Author allows it... right?

"You could trying asking the others about the Mary situation, if you want to know more. Some of them have been here longer than I am. Or, if you're feeling particularly brave, you could try confronting this with the Librarian herself and see her side of the story."

"A post per day keeps the GMs away!"
