Library

Lune heard the good news from Ms. Tairee. The madness was finally over and it was safe to head downstairs. Lune smiled and went downstairs.

She overheard Zelda and Twilight talking about something important, and Viola asked Ms. Tairee if she could make a tea set for now. Reading books can be nice, but that gets boring over time, ya know. Maybe chatting over snacks can liven things up?

Suddenly Rick drunkenly crashed a boat into the library with Morty and the others. What the hell were those guys up to, she wondered? The duo had a little argument and Lune looked over at them...

“Oh, hey. What brings you guys here?”

The library

Ben's eyes widened when Eve explained what the challenge and reward were. "Really?! That's awesome! So the Writer did listen to me! Now all I gotta do is—" he started. He had thought the boat had stopped, but in reality it had simply changed in trajectory and speed. He didn't realize what was about to happen until it was too late. With a loud crash, Ben was flung from the boat and he tumbled into the library, somehow unhurt, nothing bruised except his pride. He winced a little, then dusted himself off.

"Geez, didn't anyone tell you guys not to drink and drive?!" Ben shouted at Rick and Morty, then sighed angrily. He then looked at the girls on the first floor. "Oh, hi girls," Ben muttered, standing up. "Where'd Marcus go? And what happened in here? Y'know, before Rick crashed," he asked.

Docking Structure Tunnel ==> Docking Structure

"Hey kiddo. Great to see you again, too. I'd ask how it's going, but I think that's pretty obvious, huh." Jack shot Caro a smile, which was still a bit stiff. It would be pretty obvious to everyone by now that the spirit was on edge about something. Said spirit took a moment to think back to the other day. He hadn't really done that since the actual day, and didn't linger on it too long. But, he did remember a few people that could fit the girl's description. "So that's who they were, huh. Alright. Wasn't sure this place even had law." It hadn't even crossed his mind. He was Jack Frost, human rules and laws had never affected him. How could they? So if someone was trying to protect people, good on them he supposed. So long as they didn't abuse it.

Jack shot the angry militia member a raised eyebrow at his aggressive denial. "So, your plan to deal with who you see is a dangerous person, is to antagonise them and push them to react badly?" He chuckled, and glanced at the other man. "Wow, your friend isn't too bright is he."

He looked back at the last guy. "I didn't mean let him go as in let him free. I meant maybe you should let go of his arm, calm down and stop being an idiot and potentially make things worse. You're worried cause you're just human, right? Maybe don't antagonise the very people you're afraid of? Just an idea."

Jack leaned against his staff. "So, let me get this straight? Your reaction to a young girl, who may be stronger than you but hasn't shown any signs of anger, aggression and such, is to go for a gun?" The spirit scoffs sarcastically. "So, I'm guessing you've spent your whole life afraid of a lot of things then. That sounds pretty sad. And not someone you'd trust with a gun, I'd think."

Jack followed along when everyone moved, now focused on keeping himself relatively calm and in control. He eyed the submarine with a combination of fear and wariness. "Uh, would you guys happen to be going up?"

Cole looked to Jack when the other spirit spoke to him, still nearly hyperventilating and wild-eyed. For a moment it didn't look as though he could quite understand what was happening. But then the angry man lowered his gun away, and the grip was no longer quite so iron-tight.

"R-Rhys...? Rhys is it...?"

He looked around again, blinking a few times, looking towards Jack again when the spirit spoke more, then back at the others, staring in what seemed like near dumbfoundedness at Sans and Caro, back at Jack, then back to Caro, still shaking uncontrollably but at least seeming like he was recognizing their faces.

"N-n-not...n-not Templars? Not...not th-their trick, n-not going to...n-n-not going t-to torment, torture, t-tear at me, no...not hurting...?"

Docking Structure - Following along

The miitiaman speaking to Jack of her briefly brought Caro to a bad place. It was hard not draw comparisons between that and what had spoken of her in fear when she was younger. For a split second, the distress from that would rather noticable on expression and body language.

Fortunately, that mostly passed, when Sans, probably picking up on that possibility, tried to steer the talk away from that. Still, she felt that she had defend herself as well. "He would be right about that. Most of what I can do is for protecting people, like I did back at the library two days ago. Besides, my magic, by it's very nature, is not made for hurting in most situations. We're meant to catch and arrest criminals, not kill them. And the only things that I have gone up against here are things spawn by the storyteller god and that demon and I plan to kept it that way. Really, I don't know what you have heard, but most of what I done even was restraining such threats."

She readily followed along to the docking bay. Like the others, she too didn't have much of a positive reaction to their intended transport. "Well, I have been kinda noticing something about this overall area ... It seems to be less advanced than the city normally is, even those machines we faced back there. Yeah, it doesn't look like much, but it's either that or try to crawl our way up through this labyrinth of tunnels. In our current situation, I think it's better if we take that chance."

By that point, Cole seemed to be mostly snapping out of the dreadful state he gotten in. She gave him a tender look and spoke softly, "That's right, Cole. Nothing like that will happen to you. These people are nothing like that, at least I don't think so. They might seem harsh, but I think they are fair enough."

She then turned to Jack and flashing a small but warm smile, said, "Yeah, things have been kinda rough ever since this day started. I hope that you haven't ran into any of those machines in here. Those were kinda tough to dealt with. Anyway, you probably noticed that this place is confusing as ever, so yes, we're planning to use that to go up."

Underwater docking structure - Radio sense is tingling

Caro got a curious stare from Curly as the militia went on about Caro of all people being the most dangerous one in the room. Kind of hard to believe since she hadn't seemed to really do much when those other robots were attacking. Then again, most of them were already trashed when Curly had arrived, and it was a bit of a blur...

In any case, she followed the group into the bay where the vehicles were stored, when one of the militia men started talking on the walkie-talkie Curly became aware of a "ping" from her antenna. Well, that's how she felt like describing the reaction in her head that prompted her to put a hand over the base of the antenna that also served as her ears. It wasn't necessary for altering the wavelength she could receive or transmit on, but the action helped to muffle the background noise as she dialed in on the frequency the militia was using. She'd have to save it for later.

"Well, it's better than swimming" Curly said in response to Sans' comment "But if you could hop in another one and follow if you'd rather, or keep walking in circles. Personally I think it'll be faster this way". With that she likely climbed in through the hatch at the earliest opportunity.

Docking Structure

Jack's expression dropped slightly when he made eye-contact with his fellow spirit. He didn't really know what Cole was talking about, but the words torment and torture were pretty clear. He wondered briefly just what he had been through prior to all this, and felt a deep sympathy. Smiling slightly, the winter spirit shook his head. "None of that will happen while I'm here, I promise."

Jack hesitated for a moment, before he raised a hand, a spark of magic appearing above the palm. It danced beautifully, forming into a glowing snowflake that then drifted towards Cole with a slight movement of his hand. If anyone needed a little joy and fun right now, it was the spirit in front of him. If it connected with Cole's face, it would hopefully bring more pleasant and happy emotions to the surface to try and drown out his fear.

The spirit turned to Caro, face scrunching up comically at her question. His chest tightened at the thought of the young girl facing down anything with a gun, even with the magic he knew she could use. He tried not to let it show, though. He lifted the side of his hoodie, where a few holes would be apparent. "I had a few close encounters on the way here."

Jack relaxed slightly at the young girl's confirmation. "Good. The sooner we get above water the better." He then went back to eye the area nervously, his mind once again on the fact that he was trapped underwater. He shuddered.

Miss Tairee looked at Viola, and in the time it took for Viola to make the request, recognized who she was and raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you kind of old for tea parties, miss?" Miss Tairee asked, but before she could elaborate or otherwise continue, there was a great crashing noise as Rick's vehicle smashed into the library. Miss Tairee did seem surprised, but more annoyed. "... Pardon me" the librarian muttered to Viola, standing up from her chair and walking over towards the scene; with a flick of her wrist she brought up the holographic screen and started typing on it with one hand.

This brought her over towards Ben, who had asked about Brother Marcus. "I had to let the astartes out of the bubble, but he was still being disruptive, so I had to evict him from the premesis" Miss Tairee answered his first question simply. "As for what happened in here, I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. Now, is anyone injured?" the librarian went on, as that green device she'd used on Cole some days ago appeared on her wrist with a quick blur.

"Also, sir, you do realize that crashing a boat into the building is quite disruptive of my duties, and the intended use of this facility for the other patrons, correct?" Miss Tairee asked Rick, her tone still calm but her eyes starting to narrow dangerously as she kept typing with her free hand.

Underwater docking structure

"So, your plan to deal with who you see is a dangerous person, is to antagonise them and push them to react badly? Wow, your friend isn't too bright is he." Jack Frost had said.

"Perhaps you should speak for your friend first" the level headed militia member said, frowning at Jack. "Personally I was ready to just let him go, but after he made it clear that he doesn't think he did anything wrong and insulted us for it, well that's when my friend lost his temper. It also made it obvious that your friend is in desperate need of a lesson about facing consequences for bad actions" he continued.

"And were you not listening, boy?" the angry militia member then cut in to ask. "This fucker can turn invisible! If I let go, he'll just vanish and make a break for it!" he said in an annoyed tone, then looked at Cole, "but of course we're not going to torture you. What fucking good would that do?"

As the angry militia member then continued on trying to get Cole to go into the submarine, his level headed comrade shook his head and looked back at Caro, Sans, and Jack. "How do you people not understand that it's not about 'would', but about 'could'? The only things I've shot at today with this gun are murderous robots, but you're all prepared to stop me if I suddenly shot one of you, aren't you? Well, that street goes both ways. I'm sorry if you find that offensive, but given everything else about this city, I'm not taking the chance" the level headed militia member explained to them on the topic of having his gun ready in case Caro had started a fight. His tone was like he wasn't trying to be rude, but not really trying to be nice either. Rather like he was just stating it the way it is.

He then looked at the submarine. "As for the boat ride, unfortunately where we're going with your friend is another location underwater. We could stop at the surface first and let anyone else off there who wants to, but if you're sticking with your friend then you'll be staying down here for longer" the level headed militia member told them, still with that tone of just stating it the way it is.

Viola I Library (1st Floor)I A sign...?

If the librarian expect any reaction out of me from her odd comment, I certainly didn't show it. Instead, I simply continue on normally. "Come now~ One can never be too old for tea parties. It also happens to be one of my favorite past times," This time, I gave her a genuinely amused smile. "Or are you telling me you can't see that too?"

She knows. No surprise there as it's bound going to happen. The question is, how much does she know? Did she tell the others?

That moment of composure that I had was soon broken, however, by the sudden sound of a crash nearby, followed by a boat experiencing a rough landing. To that, I was noticeably surprised. Out of the boat came people that I recognized. Some I know by name, while others I think I've seen from the party yesterday.

After that happened, the librarian now focuses her attention on the perpetrator who caused the commotion. At that, I sighed. "I suppose my request will have to wait...,"

That, and I may now need to talk with Miss Tairee privately now that this happened. Assuming that she'll even comply to it in the first place...

Underwater Tunnels - brotherly instinct

"look, i don't care if you pointed a gun at us and i can understand why. just don't talk about my sis-" said Sans, stopping for an instant as he realized what he was about to say, "my friend like she's some kind of ticking time bomb, ok? she already had to deal with enough of that stuff from other people."

Sans looked away from everyone for a bit, he wasn't sure if Caro would approve of him mentioning her past to someone like that, but he didn't really think much about what he was saying. At least he only revealed the bare minimum about it.

"anyway..." Sans looked at the submarine again. is that thing really any safer than going through the tunnels? the water is probably full of dangerous things and if one of those even so much as makes a hole into that thing everybody is gonna drown." He then cast a quick glance at Curly. well, most of us anyway. does that thing have any weapons?

Sophie did bring up a good point: There were only three of them and that was hardly enough to take down a cult even if their numbers were significantly smaller than they used to. Rex agreed but he had another plan in mind anyway.

"Don't worry. If things get too hairy we can always call for backup" he said, pointing at the communicator on his ear "And I was actually thinking of trying to reason with them"

Garrett, in turn, also mentioned another good point: Without Old Feather Beak, the group was like a headless chicken and they couldn't rely on the demon's telepathy anymore. He also asked Rex if they had enough time to look for other people willing to help them out.

"I really don't know but they spent yesterday trying to set up their plan. I don't think we have the luxury of waiting much longer. That's not even taking into account the ghost and the daily challenge"

Rex walked to the elevator, ready to go down as soon as Sophie and Garrett accepted to go with him.

"Besides, I think I can talk them out of it. I met their new leader before"

THE LAST NEEDLE ON THE NOWHERE ISLANDS

Lucas wanted to cry. Claus had just died in his arms. He was having trouble keeping his emotions in check as he let his brother to the ground and backed off. Lucas was a quiet boy but he wanted nothing more than to scream in grief. Flint was telling him to pull the needle and Lucas knew that he was ready to complete his quest. As he stepped up to the needle impaled in the ground he focused on all his wishes for the future and his desire to see everyone make it through the remaking of this world. As he uprooted the needle he knew he was ready to put his life and the lives of everyone who believes in him on the line. As the needle left the earth a tremor shook the room. And then... the room froze mid-shake. Lucas tried to move, to say something, but he couldn't budge an inch. And then everything went dark

STONE BALCONY PLATFORM

Lucas found himself on a platform in the middle of an ocean. While he was a bit worried that he was currently alone, he was elated that he had survived the remaking of his world which could only mean that everyone else from home survived and were scattered around on the various floating structures in the distance. Why should he see anything wrong with waking up in a new place when he had just caused the remaking of the world!

After the initial happiness though he finally had time to think about what just happened. He could still feel Claus's embrace around him. He would search for the others soon but now was a time to cry. Anyone coming near his balcony would see a crying kid looking around desperately for something.

Cole flinched slightly when Jack made his magic, watching it with wide eyes, then blinking when it came to touch his face. Something about it was...soothing, a warm balm over a wound, something that cut through the deep haze of terror enough that it seemed that at least some degree of clarity returned, leaving Cole still quivering, but no longer seeming quite on the verge of losing himself into a madness.

He didn't seem to have much to say, until the man holding onto him asked what good torture would do. He whimpered faintly, but moved with the man as he was guided, still shakily, and began to speak, voice changing between what sounded like a smug, nasty man and a slightly more wary but still amused one.

"Careful, this one can conjure fire."

"I'd like to see her try it."

"I wouldn't worry. There wasn't much fight in her when we caught her." A rather malicious chuckle came at that. "Even less now."

"Think she'll make it?"

The nasty voice got even nastier, somehow, sounding as though the question asked by the other were ridiculous, a veiled threat that wasn't nearly veiled enough. "Probably better if she didn't."

Cole's voice came back to his own, eyes somewhat unfocused as he still spoke. "Backing into the corner of the cage, panting, clawing at the walls, desperate to escape..."I'll scream"...no, no that would only bring the Templars back...no...no better this way, better to die, better than to be here...with them..."

He fell silent at that, gaze to the floor, sniffling slightly, before speaking in a more normal voice for him, though dull and sounding exhausted.

"Take the blades...two on my back, one on my belt. I don't want to forget where I am...I don't want to hurt myself to escape..."

The well-dressed ghost would have been quick to intervene, had the situation not spiraled out of control faster than he could react to or keep up with.

But hey, Jack was here. That made three people he recognized here, plus his magic calmed Cole down ever so slightly after these assholes sent him into a panic attack. The winter spirit was uncharacteristically jittery though, to the point of having frozen everything the way he came in. He wondered why the Guardian of Fun would be so terrified as someone who so spat in the face of fear that he was revived after he ohhhh.

Now it was a matter of where to go now that all of them had the submarines within a breadth. And where Jack wanted to go to the surface, the men with guns and a crying child intended on going deeper, and he had a feeling the lazybones and the magical girl(!!) had every intention of following their friend on his disproportionate arrest.

Hoo boy, a dilemma.

He considered taking Cole's weapons from him, as the latter begged for someone to do so following a troubling flashback, but decided against it, fearing he'd agitate the kid further.

Still, he'd been metaphorically twiddling his fingers for too long.

Docking structure to inside the sub

The level headed militia member frowned at Sans, though it was part disappointment and annoyance, and part a sort of sadness. "Don't put words into my mouth skeleton man. You know I didn't say that" the level headed militia member stated in a slightly quieter tone, then looked at the submarine. "I don't see any weapons on it... But, the way this day is I don't think it matters what path we take; it's gonna be dangerous. It's either this or go through the tunnels and keep fighting those robots" he pointed out.

"Hah, no thank you!" the angry militia member commented with a single laugh, "This way will be a lot easier to get around the city's shifting."

"Yes, I would much prefer we not encounter more of those robots" one of the civilians commented as they got aboard. Now that everything was not hectic, the others could see said two civilians were both men of seemingly middle age; however, only one seemed to be human, while the other was some species mostly identical to humans except for some horizontal ridges on the bridge of his nose. The alien man also had some kind of fancy earring dangling from one ear.

Once everyone coming along got on board, the level headed militia member sealed the door. Only then did the angry one finally let go of Cole's arm, as now even if Cole turned invisible there was nowhere for him to run; he also took the liberty of quickly confiscating Cole's weapons.

The inside of the sub was, as one might expect from the outside, seemingly little more than a glorified box. Crude seats lined the walls on the side and rear like benches, and the 'cockpit' at the front was not separated by any real door, but rather just slight indents of the walls that made a sort of door frame, and also doubled as some kind of lockers with little doors on them. "Nails, check those lockers for anything useful" the angry militia member said, stepping past them to the single seat up at the front and sitting down, setting his gun aside.

"You can drive... Uh, whatever, this thing, Phil?" the level headed militia member asked as he moved over to the lockers and looked in them. "Looks like some of the machinery running this thing, and some tools" he added as he checked the lockers.

"Well you know, formula one drag racers back home, submarines from another universe- basically the same thing, right?" the angry militia member, apparently 'Phil' stated half jokingly, as he started handling the various controls and try to figure out what was supposed to do what. "Don't worry, I'll figure it out. If we keep it up at the surface until we find the ship dock, then at least we'll have a chance at bailing out if anything tries to eat us" he continued. His comrade, once done with searching the lockers, closed it and turned around, planting himself on the floor with his back up against the locker with a quiet sigh. After the sub began to move with a slight lurch, Phil glanced back at him then muttered, "You going to be alright, Nails?"

'Nails' was looking at his hands. "My hands won't stop shaking" Nails muttered in return.

"I thought for sure that was going to turn into a fight back there" the human civilian muttered to the alien from the left side bench the two had sat on.

Frederick stayed silent, sitting on the rear bench and just staring at his folded hands with a somber expression.

Balcony

Though understandable that he would not notice right away, Lucas was nevertheless not alone on the balcony. Somebody walked over towards him from somewhat across the 100 meter wide platform.

"Are you alright?"

The question, as redundant as it may have been since the answer was quite obvious, came in a genuine and concerned tone from a boy who looked about fifteen years old. His accent held a British tint, and his lightly colored skin and hair seemed to match. Oddly, he was wearing a black cloak with a long sleeved shirt and pants underneath, but if he was at all uncomfortable in this weather he didn't show it.

"You aren't hurt, are you?" the teen then asked, tilting his head a bit as he looked at Lucas with a concerned expression.

Library

"Yes, well, if only it could always work like that" Miss Tairee said idly after Ben's comment on Brother Marcus. At least, she assumed it was about Brother Marcus. As Zelda answered his question about the militia, Miss Tairee did not bother; she did however, look at Zelda for a moment.

"Though it is your choice, I would point out that if there's something you need to do outside of the library, then staying here is a bit of a waste, don't you think? True, you could get stuck dying over and over and never reach that goal today, but a small chance out there is still greater than a zero chance in here" Miss Tairee pointed out to Zelda. "... Although, an even smarter course of action would be to get someone strong to escort you for protection" she then added, with a quick glance at Ben.

Miss Tairee then turned around, glancing at the crashed boat and area around it, raising her eyebrows. "Now, again? Is anyone injured?" Miss Tairee asked again, letting out a slight indignant huff about the inquiry being ignored before.

The Maze, I'll Get You Next Time!
Evidently the center was the correct choice in this matter, because after our group made its way down the super-slick steel steps they stopped to see a sole sub, swimming in a slight pool of water. The submarine looked like a dingy little craft would barely fit three people, let alone five, but there wasn't exactly much time to go around car shopping.

Seiga tried to pry open the hatch at the top, and failed. Yoshika did the same thing, and only managed to rip off the wheel. "I LAUGH AT YOU!" the grating voice of the computer echoed up from the hall, "YOU CAN'T OPEN THAT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! YOU'RE DE-DE-DESTINED TO DIE HERE!"

The hermit quickly pulled out her hairpin, the well-manicured loops managing to stay in place inexplicably, and traced open a hole in the hull. The red lights stopped strobing as P.O.S. asked them, his tone returning to the one he began with, "Hold on, please explain to me how you did that!"

Of course, nobody was in the particular mood to answer, so they all piled in. With five people, a spear, a staff, a shotgun and a full dufflebag it wasn't particularly easy, but with Plague Knight's stature and Karkat's slim figure they managed to fit themselves in satisfactorily. Yoshika, being Yoshika, was fine to sit at the bottom of the pile and be slowly crushed beneath the rest of the party. It was technically being helpful.

They released from the dock, and plunged headfirst into the deep, inky blackness of the abyss. With little to guide them but the motes of dust floating down towards the bottom, they carefully made their way up.

The Library, Arrivals and Departures
A while later, made longer by the fact that Seiga wasn't a pro at driving submersibles and the craft being too cramped to switch with whoever might've had more experience, they surfaced and made a beeline towards the one structure that was recognizable: the library.

Yoshika, who had wriggled her way very uncomfortably from the floor to the ceiling of the sub, decided that the best option here was to punch open the hatch. As they all piled out of the clown car, Seiga stretched her limbs in triumph (and mostly because she was locked in place for the last 20 minutes).

"Plague Knight, this doesn't count for the favor I owed you from yesterday," Seiga said to her fellow alchemist. "I'm sure I'll have a more proper way to repay you in due time."

Sophie quietly followed the two men into the lift, looking back and forth between the them as they spoke about... ghosts now? It's a good thing Cheria isn't here...

Warehouse

As the lift began to descend, Garrett gave his companions a quick run-down of what he had seen down there.

"The first thing beyond the door at the bottom is a room with some kind of cannon in the ceiling. It rotates slowly on its axis and it blasts away whenever these glass lenses mounted on it notice somebody. We will probably have to remove it somehow, but I don't know if simply blowing it up won't damage the walls too much.

"Then some stairs, a long hallway, and finally the room where I woke up today. There's a door on the other side of the room I didn't check out before. I don't know what's beyond that."
