DOFP was an end of an era and I consider Logan the Epilogue of this series.
Mileena MadnessI think Dark Phoenix is fine as a prequel to the ending of DOFP(which it was made to be). Carries a lot of themes and ideas from it, pays off what was set-up. If it wasn’t mismarketed as a totally different movie story and tone-wise people wouldn’t have been as negative on it.
Though it still would not have been considered very good with that editing and short runtime that handicapped the story.

I felt an inclination to rewatch the Deadpool's back to back...so I did.
The first movie is still great. It was a hell of a risk, both with the relatively small budget and how it just wasn't what you'd expect, but damn it paid off. Easily my favorite comic book movie of 2016 and at the time was my favorite since Guardians 1. Ryan Reynolds absolutely owns this role, seriously.
The second movie...well, it's still pretty solid, Reynolds is still nailing it, good action, good laughs, but I gotta rate it below the original since it makes some less than desirable decisions, utilized some characters less than I'd like, and overall just doesn't have the same sort of wow factor. Doesn't help that, again, I watched these back to back.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)The only thing Deadpool 2 has going for it that the first one doesn't is Domino. Domino is goddamn awesome.
To Deadpool’s credit, even if it’s just 2 movies he has maintained a level of consistent quality that the main X-Men movies have long since lost by that point.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Lee felt like saying some nice things about Dark Phoenix.

It's been 3000 years…Apparently the Hellfire Club was planned for Dark Phoenix.
I'm not even surprised Fox didn't do anything with this.
... Of course why not just go with Skrul- err Baku
Mileena MadnessPrincess Weekes of The Mary Sue wrote an article on whether or not the first X-Men movie holds up. Her stance is that the movie is overall enjoyable and does set up some interesting things that sadly were not followed up on well.
I'm starting to think that Half Life 3 will be released before The New Mutants.
But we got a new Half Life game:v
Mileena MadnessYeah, regarding the delays for The New Mutants, I wouldn't care less for when it comes out. I'll still wait, because good things come to those who are patient.
The X-Men Films Offer a Villainous Origin Story for Bryan Singer

...yikes.
And to think I thought it was bad when he didn't do X3. Now I think they were better off even with that movie being shit.
One Strip! One Strip! The guy who directed X3 also faced allegations of sexual misconduct.
They really gotta stop hiring these kinds of people.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Literally just shy of half of this whole series was directed by awful people. What a goddamn mess.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)Of the mainline X-Men movies only two are not directed by creeps: First Class (Matthew Vaughn) and Dark Phoenix (Simon Kinberg). Everything else is either Ratner or Singer, and Singer still has a producer and co-writer credit in First Class due his strong involvement behind the scenes (he was supposed to direct the film, Vaughn came to be as a replacement due a schedule conflict). So the only X-Men movie with 0 input from either Singer or Ratner is Dark Phoenix.
If you try to math it out the no-creepy-as-creative-force-ratio you get about dead even only if you include every spin off (The Wolverine trilogy and the two Deadpools).

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Seriously, Hollywood is just cesspool full of people who are willing to cover for creeps and assholes.
I'd say less Hollywood per see than all of the upper echelons of capitalist society in terms of power. Corporate culture in general is extremely toxic and abusive all over the world, and political elites often likewise (in the anglosphere you can just look at the currently-in-power Republican Party, a murderer's row of white supremacists and sexual abusers).
Hollywood is just more visible because of its status as the world's powerhouse of pop culture.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."There is an irony in DP having the least involvement of bad people yet turning out into one of the worst films in the franchise.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
It's enough to turn you depressed. Speaking of which:
Sigh. What do we think about that Jean Luc?
Trigger warning for discussion of rape and sexual assault.
More info about Singer in an article from the Hollywood Reporter. This includes allegations made by Alex Burton who played Pyro in the first X-Men movie in a bit part. The allegations are made against three of Singer's friends but Singer himself was never accused by him it seems.
I have watched Do FP. Yeah, you know what? That was actually pretty good, great even. Part of me likes it a bit more than Endgame. You know, pedo director and franchise I haven't seen that much of but have spoiled a fair bit of for myself aside. Plenty of awesome action and sweet moments (my favorite just might be the conversation between the two Xaviers, genuinely great and heartfelt stuff), Mc Avoy and Fassbender are great as expected. Also a much better Quicksilver than what the MCU had to offer. Too bad Logan sorta ruins the happy ending, unless you wanna just brush it aside as a non-canon bad alternate future.
I can definitely agree that if these movies were to just up and end with this or Logan, that'd be alright. The Deadpools I could maybe excuse because they're just happily existing in their own space with minimal ties to the rest of the franchise. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix...nah.
