[up]Two comments

1-Cloud-I have no objection to any of his powers. However, he will receive the same restrictions to bullet deflection that Neet's characters did, he can only block from a single target, and only if they're firing at him from the front.

2-Edge-To be frank, 500,000 and the size of Chicago is too large. What I recommend we do here is the same thing we had Kaon do, make it so that a literal chunk of Edge was brought to the Battleworld. presumably all the important buildings and such will be in this chunk, and a lot of the outlying shitty living area on the outskirts will be cut off. Since this is a chunk of standard humans for the most part, maybe a population of about 50,000? That cool with you?

Main Character
Name: Homura Akemi
Age: 14(?)
Appearance: Freeze.
Personality: With a gaze of steel and a subdued voice, Homura is not the easiest person to get along with (just ask Sayaka). When she does speak, they tend to just be uncompromising commands that can put off others, even her friends. But there is no doubting her capabilities in a fight, reticent as she is to share more than what is strictly necessary for her allies need to know, nor of her determination to see through something she wants to the end. And though Madoka was the only one to consistently believe there is more to the girl Kyoko once accused of being a robot, the others are starting to believe that there might be some truth to that...even Homura.
Powers:

  • Hyperspace Arsenal: Her Shield has the ability to store far more stuff than its size would suggest - useful for her since her magic powers do not grant much in the way of fighting Witches directly. Any item that can be pulled through a hole two feet wide can be stored for later use. The only Magical Girl-related ability that doesn’t require active use of her magic.
  • Time Shield: Her Shield can also allow her to speed up time for herself and slow it down for everyone else around her, increasing her effective speed and reaction abilities by 50%.
  • Magic Bolt: A direct conversion of her magic to a small bolt of energy, aimed from her Shield. Due to its inefficient cost of magic it is a last resort weapon for Homura.
Equipment: Most of her very considerable stockpile had been expended during Walpurgisnacht, so what she has now is much reduced compared to what she can carry (it has included homemade pipe bombs, mortars, large amounts of C4 explosives, and rocket launchers). At the moment, it consists of:
  • 1 Beretta 92FS with a total of four clips (15-round magazine) of 9mm ammunition
  • 1 FN Minimi Para light machine gun (no ammunition)
  • 1 Howa Type 89 assault rifle (90 rounds total)
  • 1 M26 fragmentation grenade
Backstory: What her classmates at Mitakihara Middle School know is that she transferred in after the beginning of the school year about a month and a half ago having spent much of the previous year in the hospital. What Sayaka, Mami, and Kyoko know is that she suddenly showed up and started ordering them around, them only following her at first because she seemed to know everything about them and her predictions about the future had been proven right. What Madoka knows is that she lives in an apartment by herself and that she was orphaned at a young age, kept financed by a pile of insurance awards in trust. What Kyubey knows is that he can’t remember ever making a contract with her. But pretty much the only one who knows Homura’s entire story is Homura.

Supporting Cast

Name: Madoka Kaname
Age: 14
Appearance: Nice to meet you!
Personality: Cheerful and optimistic, it’s hard not be become friends with Madoka. She is always eager to help others when she can and doesn’t like seeing others get hurt, especially her friends. That she’s been relegated to bystander while the others fight the dangers that threaten their city has given her some measure of unease, but she remains with the others and can always bring their spirits up.
Powers: None beyond what a normal 13-year-old girl can do, much to the disappointment of Kyubey who can sense great potential within her. But the others insist that she stay clear of the dangers a Magical Girl faces.
Equipment: She doesn’t normally carry weapons - her backpack usually consists of her school books and notepads. Walpurgisnacht was an exception - she has a baseball bat given to her by Sayaka as a last ditch protection measure, though her proficiency with it as a weapon is...lacking.
*Backstory: A rather ordinary girl with loving (if not quite traditional) parents and a little brother, Madoka and Sayaka came into the world of Magical Girls by accident when they stumbled into a Witch’s Labyrinth and had to be rescued by Mami. The next six weeks were one of stark contrast to the nice life she had before, even as her potential power as a Magical Girl as claimed by Kyubey remains unrealized by the insistence of the others — especially Homura. Despite not having powers, though, she remains the heart and soul of the group, being able to both help them survive the toughest parts of being a Magical Girl and remaining their bridge to the normal lives they’ve left behind for something greater.


Name: Sayaka Miki
Age: 14
Appearance: A cute girl
Personality: Sayaka is outgoing and brash, with a touch of tomboy and a strong sense of justice mixed with a more subtler romantic side. She has a protective instinct to her friends. She does tend to jump to conclusions and can be confrontational when she feels an offense has taken place, though she can also be surprisingly insightful during calmer periods.
Powers:
  • Sayaka’s weapon of choice are magically-summoned cutlass about half her height. She can spawn several under her cape to throw at enemies, but most of the time she engages in hand-to-hand combat with her great speed.
  • Healing Hands: Sayaka’s wish granted her the ability to heal the damage she takes in battle at twice the rate of other Magical Girls. She can also heal others’ wounds at that speed as well.
  • Conductor’s Podium: In battle, Sayaka has the ability to summon concentric circles of magic in mid-air so that she can leap off them to change direction on hard-to-pin-down targets.
Equipment: If her magically-summoned cutlasses don’t count, nothing.
Backstory: Sayaka is Madoka’s childhood friend and one of the few Magical Girls who used her wish for someone else, healing the arm of her childhood friend (and crush) Kyousuke Kamijou so that he could play the violin again. This came, however, despite Mami’s warnings about one’s true intentions about a wish - it came along just as Sayaka realized how naive she had been, with the combination of her becoming a Magical Girl and having to fight things few others could even comprehend along with the realization that she wasn’t going to get what she had really wanted as Kyosuke slipped away from her. But after a great effort, she had recovered herself in time to assist the others in fighting Walpurgisnacht and save the city - for the day, at least.
Name: Mami Tomoe
Age: 15, close to 16
Appearance: Let me show you how it’s done.
Personality: Older than the other girls, Mami acts like it as well, often being a surrogate mother in how she guides them in their battles. She is an accomplished and experienced Magical Girl fighter, with a taste of the feminine with her knack of putting flowery and fancy touches on her attacks and her go-to off-hours hobbies of tea and cake. As cool as she is, though, Mami does become anxious at the prospect of being alone.
Powers:
  • Mami’s usual weapon of choice are magically-summoned single-shot flintlock muskets. In a pinch she can summon large numbers of them to deal with hordes of enemies, though those take more effort and magic.
  • Tiro Finale: Essentially a super-sized version of her muskets. Given enough time and energy, they can reach really powerful levels.
  • Ribbons: Mami can summon lengths of yellow ribbon for wide variety of purposes - for supporting one’s weight, as a means of protection, to restrain targets, or even (with enough time to prepare) making a facsimile of another person that looks and acts the same, albeit one that falls apart if it were to take physical damage.
Equipment: None besides her magic powers
Backstory: Mami is a veteran Magical Girl two years the others’ senior. Her becoming a Magical Girl was out of necessity, having been in a terrible car accident that took the lives of her parents and left her on the verge of death; only Kyubey’s timely arrival allowed her to survive. She has had a fairly long career as a Magical Girl, enabling her to become a very effective fighter against the Witches that threaten humans. However, it also means that she has seen many other Magical Girls come and go, as cooperation is difficult when everyone is after the same prized Grief Seeds, and there were many lonely nights for her to return to. It has only been recently that she has found others to share her time with again, the group of Magical Girls (and guest) that banded together to defeat the greatest Witch ever known.
Name: Kyoko Sakura
Age: 14
Appearance:You got any Pocky?
Personality: Like Sayaka, she’s outgoing and brash. Unlike Sayaka, her extroverted personality tends to be more abrasive and her main concern is herself - spending so long homeless will do that to a person - though she does have a softer side that comes out occasionally. Can nearly always be seen eating something, usually apples or packaged snacks. Don’t you dare waste food in front of her or she’ll kill you.
Powers:
  • Her main weapon is a summoned spear normally around 1.5 times her height (approx. 7 ½ feet), though at times of extreme duress it can grow as tall as 30 feet (at this point she’ll ride on it like a sentient wave rather than wield it). The spear can be segmented and rejoined into several pieces connected by an interior chain to be used as a quasi-whip when desired.
  • Diamond Barrier: Kyoko can also summon an orthogonal grid of black diamonds for protection, able to cover more surface area compared with similar function of Mami’s ribbons (assuming similar magic input) as well as stun beings that are foolish enough to actually touch it.
  • Rosso Fantasma: Kyoko once used an ability to create as many as 5 phantom clones of herself to confuse opponents, but for personal reasons she hasn’t used this power in a long time.
Equipment: None besides her magic powers
Backstory: Kyoko had been living on the streets for months, if not years, mainly in nearby Kazamino before coming to Mitakihara. Her first appearance of actively stopping Sayaka from pursuing a Familiar and general “survival of the fittest” philosophy made immediate tension with the group, especially the just-minded Sayaka; the road to her inclusion into the group at Homura’s insistence was not easy at all. It took the crisis Sayaka had with her unrequited crush with Kyosuke to bring out the side of Kyoko that wasn’t so different with her, eventually leading to peace just in time for them to confront Walpurgisnacht and its potential bevy of Grief Seeds.
Name: Kyubey
Age: Unknown
Appearance: Make a contract with me!
Personality: He is quite the cute critter and can endear himself to those that he meets with his playful antics and sweet (telepathic) voice. However, he takes his job seriously and is always on the lookout for new Magical Girl recruits.
Powers: He is able to communicate with others via telepathy and is normally invisible to all except Magical Girls and Magical Girl candidates. He also establishes contracts with Magical Girls by enabling their wishes to be granted, and disposes of used Grief Seeds lest they become another Witch.
Equipment: None
Backstory: There really isn’t much that can be said about Kyubey, other than that he acts as their guide and recruiter against the Witches that cause pain and despair in humanity. He can sense and notify others of nearby Witch activity, and during fights against Witches he acts as an adviser as he cannot fight them himself. Of those present only Homura seems distrustful of him, though Kyoko has her reservations as well (but then again both of them have their reservations about pretty much everyone).

Chunk

Name of the World: Mitakihara

Description: A city that has seen tremendous growth in recent decades, its skyline sleek and modern reaching for the heavens - well, at least it was prior to Walpurgisnacht. The city is - was - nestled in a small green valley surrounded by lush forest and rolling hills; the city center sits on the confluence of the Mitakihara River and its tributaries the East and West branches, with a somewhat older industrial sector to the east of downtown. A few small suburban villages served as bedroom communities for the downtown core - prior to the catastrophe major road and rail lines connected it to the nearby cities of Kazamino and Asunaro. The city as whole has suffered significant damage thanks to the storm being called “Walpurgisnacht”, but miraculously there were very few deaths from the catastrophe; the subsequent chunk that was ripped out of its homeworld into the Battleworld includes most of the downtown and parts east to the (former) border with Kazamino.

Contents/Locations:

  • Mitakihara Middle School: Grade 7-9 academic institution with modern teaching equipment. There are other schools and academies serving the education needs of a city of this size, of course, but Mitakihara Middle School’s unique high-rise construction and reputation of academic prowess made it the top choice for many aspiring students. A prime recruiting ground for Kyubey due to the preponderance of eligible Magical Girl candidates.
  • Mirai Building: A recently-opened mall that quickly became a popular hangout spot for children and adults. Though some parts are still under construction, the mall already boasts a movie theater, a bowling alley, and several restaurants and shops. The upper levels of the building house office space.
  • Mitakihara Station: The main train station serving downtown Mitakihara on the Amehara Line. Kazamino isnote  two stops away, with Asunaro another stop down.
  • Kihakuhashi Park: One of the larger parks near the center of the city. Its most defining feature is a series of bridge spans over Highway 540, providing a unique sense of calm right above the passage of motor vehicles below.
  • Sakura Church: A now-abandoned site near Mitakihara’s (former) eastern border with Kazamino, near the edge of Mitakihara’s primary industrial area. An actual church once sat here with weekly services by a heterodox Christian priest whose attendance had swelled until a tragedy destroyed the structure in flames and resulted in the deaths of him and his family.
  • Camp Nishimi: A military facility operated by Japan Self-Defense Ground Forces. It is chiefly a munitions depot in support of defense-related activities in the region by both the JGSDF and, when necessary, United States Forces Japan.

Specialties: To the ordinary eye, this city is just a regular modern city (albeit one having just suffered a major disaster). However, only those in the know knew about the world hidden from the public’s eyes, the world of Magical Girls, the Witches they fought to protect people from falling under their influence, the wishes they had granted by Kyubey to make the world a better place. Magic remains quite the except rather than the norm, though, and day to day it is technology that rules.

Population: The vast majority of the some 1-million residents of Mitakihara are ordinary humans (albeit ones whose lives have just been turned upside-down with the mysterious, sudden, and destructive storm of April 30th); the actual chunk that is present in the Battleworld only has an estimated 43,000 people due to those areas chiefly being workplaces rather than residential areas (counting both those who had fled to emergency shelters that happened to be located there and those who usually lived there and chose to ride out the storm at home). Unbeknownst to the public, there are amongst them other beings of superhuman nature:

  • Magical Girls, human girls generally aged 11-15 (though those as young as 8 and as old as 18 have been known to exist) who were granted magical powers and a wish by Kyubey. The powers they have widely vary depending on their exact wish and general personality, but at minimum every Magical Girl can communicate within a 100-meter radius by telepathy, as well as disconnect their nerves when the pain becomes debilitating. Their abilities are sustained by an object called a Soul Gem, which they must keep clean with Grief Seeds.
  • Witches, beings born of despair that pose a threat to the well-being of the humans that inhabit Mitakihara. They usually lie within self-created Labyrinths invisible to the human eye, spreading their influence subtly to induce anger and despair, leading to otherwise-unexplained disappearances and deaths, including suicide. They often send out Familiars to do their bidding, some of whom may become Witches themselves if they get strong enough.
  • The Incubators, whose individual members are often called Kyubey since they are almost never seen in groups. They act as advisers to Magical Girls when they fight and take the used-up Grief Seeds after Magical Girls are done with them, lest they become a problem down the road. They can make themselves invisible to normal humans, appearing only to approach potential Magical Girls with contract offers or to advise those that have already taken it.


1. Please let me know if any particular things need to be addressed. I noticed you knocked down Spaz's Edge chunk population, so I just went with the population of the Financial District if that's OK.

2. Those that have seen PMMM will figure out quickly I've left out a good deal of information about nearly everyone's backstory - if more explicit information is needed also let me know.

Homura-Time stop ain't happening. Best you're going to get is a 50% time slow, which will give you basically a 50% speed and reaction buff in combat. Also, this only effects her, not other people.

Kyoko-30 foot spear is too long. I'll give you 15 feet, no more.

In regards to the ability in the spoiler, Should she ever decide to use this ability for whatever reason, she ain't getting 11 clones. 5 is the maximum I feel good about allowing

As usual, should you disagree with any of these nerfs, feel free to present a counterargument as to why they are not overpowered and should be allowed in. I make no claim to perfection.

Also, when you are accepted, where do you wanna be put on the map?

Homura: I feel that might weaken her too much. Even at 150% speed Homura would not be a major threat as she is physically and magically the weakest of them - Sayaka would still be faster than her. Also, if she's tied down in some way she's screwed. Her strength lies in being able to precisely plot and plan a battle (which admittedly won't be of great use here since she can't rewind time), appear in unexpected locations, and to escape from places she should be dead to rights (while leaving an explosive parting gift). Would a quick burnout (allow 3-5 seconds' worth of action) followed by a long cooldown period (say, 10 or 15 posts where she must perform some action in normal time flow) be acceptable?

Kyoko 1: The 30-foot thing was a one-time case of extreme emotional torque in-series where she had pulled a Taking You with Me Mercy Kill on Sayaka, who had turned into a Witch, in order to allow the others to escape from her Labyrinth. It'd probably take something just as dire for me to even consider that here. Basically, I petition that the 30-ft limit be restored with the understanding it would have to be a situation just as extreme to get beyond the normal 7 1/2 feet.

Kyoko 2: I assent. I actually don't know yet under what circumstances I'd consider petitioning its restoration.

Re location: I don't really have any particular preference where Mitakihara ends up being dragged, though would I be allowed to orient it? Also, does the map have a scale to it so that I can get a sense of just how far/large everyone is?

[up]Homora-I'm afraid Time Stop is just flat out too OP. In 5 seconds of time stop, your character could easily, say, take a gun, put it to a persons head, pull the trigger, and boom insta death. I understand you wouldn't do that, but there's always the potential for abuse, which I cannot allow. I am sorry, but I do not feel I can budge on this one.

Kyoko-Alright, that's fair. Consider that unnerfed.

Location-You can request an orientation if you so choose. Scale? Er....as large as it needs to be. Ya, sorry, there's no real consistent scale to hand you here.

Very well. And I suppose you have a point - I might not do that, but canon!Homura likely would. This may end up for the better as far as her character development.

As for location, from what I've seen you'd prefer it to land on the coast - if that's the case could you reorient it so that the eastern parts where the industrial zone is faces out so that there would be an island of industry (and the Sakura Church)?

Hello I wanna be in on this

Main character: Bo Wyatt

Appearance:Basically my profile picture.(the helmets a diving helmet not a space helmet)

Items:a one stringed guitar and a portable record player with a record in it. Everything else you can see in the pic.

Personality/Backstory:Bo is a softspoken man with a love for family And music. He as been playing his one stringed guitar his whole life but it's somehow terrible at it. After his brothers horrific death he's been roaming around like he was in his past life as a street preformer.

Battle:Bos terrible and strange guitar skills have granted him the ability to confuse the enemy and somehow pump up allies. When on the offensive he will play various songs to hurt the enemy's ears and make them want to either kill him more or just get away from him.

I will say I'd hesitate to accept your signup anyway, as you yourself admitted he'd have a hard time in any combat situation, and I can't imagine you'd enjoy an RP where you get your ass kicked whenever a combat situation came up. @Dark Ok, so for the most part, everything looks good. Helps that they all come from an RPG where things are naturally balanced for the most part. My one and only issue is with Aigis and her Orgia mode, 5 minutes strikes me as a tad long. I'm not going to nerf this too much, since it does have a rather nasty side effect of leaving her defenseless after. I'm thinking maybe 3 minutes? Also, if I remember correctly, Aigis can't be issued orders when she's in that mode, and just kinda does her own thing. I didn't see that mentioned in the signup.

Name: Xal'Gorak

Age: Physically 24, actually Time Abyss

Appearance: Human-like, but dark grey skin and white hair (think Drow). He wears a black longcoat. His form appears to be in it's 20s. He wears a silicon mask covering his whole face, patterned to resemble a spider. He also has a cloak and hood over the longcoat.

For some flavor, his true appearance is a snake-like creature with bony wings, three smaller heads crawling on it, ebony... flesh? Well, it is composed of constantly shifting material, shadow, liquid, and... nothingness. Tentacles, also. All over the body. With the spikes. Eyes and fangs cover what isn't tentacle and that is it's [[aformyouarecomfortablewith]] it just can't access right now.

Personality: Cunning, cold,[[deadpansnarker and snarky]]

Powers:

Telepathy

Insanity: Can [1], though it takes a lot of energy Soul Tear Yeah, basically a mix of invisible Agony Beam and I'm Having Soul Pains

Equipment: A Black, Jagged Katana That's... really, it, his abilities are mostly all he needs

Backstory: (IC narration) We... came before you... before all of you. We came first. We watched as more worlds developed around our own - we saw the multiverse come into existence. We took the job as the caretakers, the watchers - we reap old universes like weeds - can't let them leak into ours.

Then, I reap at the wrong time - I go to a realm of many worlds - some sad, weak, pathetic. Some strong, powerful. Whatever this is - this place is next on the list.

Forced into a humanoid body? I will make-do with this avatar.
