In the last days of the most recent Andalian Kingdoms, the Dark King arose and spread chill and bane across the land, his warped interpretation of the Round Table at his beck and call.

As a coalition gathered to face him, a question came to some more scholarly minds, in particular the once bright prince's old flame, Taysa – how, exactly, did the Dark King become the menace he is?

Today, we will examine the events that led up to the realization of the Black Crown Prophecy. The Frigid North Expedition doomed to going all too horribly right.

And the rise of a new King amidst demons, monsters, beasts and demented men. The odd perversion of order he created amidst chaos, and the oddly human reasons he had for doing what he did.

So, we're going to be playing through a rather different kind of RP in this iteration of my Andalia Story. We'll be following the Dark King as he fights the Lich Lords who wish to reduce the world to a collection of cinders, the Demons who back this ambition, and the bestial “New Men” who author a unique scheme to savage the world of their own.

Make no mistake, though, we're not playing as heroes in this.

The Dark King is not a title he uses with no reason.

His allies are by and large witches, darkened figures, former humans turned undead, and other creatures that for one reason or another chose this shade of Dark over the others.

The world has changed since the initial RP;

The current King, Jefrey II, is wreaking his depraved whimsy across the central province of Kingston, and the people are oppressed, over-taxed, and forced into conscription and violent death at the whimsy of the commanding nobility.

The winter has arrived and it is brutal even as far south as Kingston, which usually suffered through less severe instances of the cold season.

As for the feel of the RP, think an action and fantasy fighting RP, but with no shortage of comedy, even Black Comedy – no, especially Black Comedy.

You don't need to know much if anything about an over-arching mythos, and you don't need to read anything about other Andalia Rps on here.

All you need to know is this is essentially a story of a plucky group of Anti Villain Protagonists fighting against people and things a lot worse than they are.

So feel free to go wild in terms of characters.

I'm even making it open so that you can play a character who starts off as an enemy and then gets recruited either one way or another.

Name: Sauroben Greenwood

Age: 27

Species: Half-Elf, Half-Human

Job: Freelancing Adventurer

Appearance: Average in height and sleek in build, Sauroben would appear to be lacking any stopping power, but looks can be deceiving. He has strikingly white hair, and red eyes (read bio for more on that), he wears light, quiet armor made from leather. He is somewhat pale, even for an elf.

Bio: It's not easy being an albino, though not unheard of for an elf, but what really crossed the line was his heritage. Half-elf, half-human. His human father left for war when Sauroben was little, so he doesn't have many memories of his dad, and his mom hated him as a mistake. The only thing he had in his possession was a sword that had belonged to his father, with several etchings in the hilt. One of the elders said it was the long forgotten language of the ancients.

Everything changed the day he met Elora Shadowmoon, daughter of the high-ranking official in the village, Greenwood. He had seen her several times, but the first contact he'd had with her was when several of the other boys were picking on him. He remembered her chastising them severely, boy what a sharp tongue. He didn't really feel to happy when she offered him food though, "I don't need your pity," he would remember saying. Later that day, out in a secret meadow where he could be alone with his thoughts, he saw Elora again, and opted to sit on the other side of the small pond in the meadow and glare at her for several minutes, then began skipping stones. He didn't notice when Elora came up behind him and started talking. After that, the two were inseparable, and Sauroben fell in love with her. She taught him to craft and use a bow as well as daggers. But one day, she vanished. Sauroben had searched far and wide for her, finally finding her among a den of bandits. She was kept as a slave, and was to be sold off the next day. In a blind rage, Sauroben killed them all as Elora looked on in horror. After that, the two decided never to return to the village and now wander about.

Home: none, he chose his last name, Greenwood, from the name of his village.

Personality: Easy-going when not busy in combat or on a mission, but he can only focus on one thing at a time. He tends to be clumsy in his easygoing state, but when he gets serious, there's typically nothing that can stand in the way of his mind and skill.

Weapons: two handcrafted daggers, a bow and whatever arrows he can craft or get his hands on, and his father's katana.

Other: He is typically searching for his father and can be found in different local taverns looking for work.

Elora won't really do much aside from just be there, unless you guys want me to play her as a character too.

I think we do need more information about the RP. Who is this Dark King our chars are supposed to follow? How would they be recruited? Are they low class minions or do they start as high officers? If he rules over a kingdom already, how is it?

  • The Dark King: Is the very same young prince who endeavored to vanquish a demonic threat earlier, by taking hold of a holy sword. Points to him, it worked, and most of the demons in Andalia are gone by this time. However, the Zero Edge attempted to absorb him into it, so it could once again wreak havoc. Only a certain something allowed Raize to retain his individuality, though now he is much darker than he was earlier. Now with some additional powers, Raize sees it as his new mission to reunify the land behind him, and bring down the corrupt young king and his Deadly Decadent Court of nobles.

  • Your characters can start as low level minions or as "knights" of the new regime, but for all intents and purposes, Raize is not the only person aiming for the throne, nor is he exactly the nastiest. You'll find there are numerous others who make our Fallen Hero look positively cuddly.

  • Raize's "Kingdom" is functionally just the palace and the surrounding Kingston Country Side, and he asserted himself as a King purely to preserve his right due to relation to the old kingly line, however thin that relation was.

  • Functionally, we start during the initial raid on the palace, during which a very Joffrey-esque king is brought down.

  • Name: Christelle Falkris

  • Age: 20

  • Gender: Female

  • Species: Human

  • Job: Wandering Barefisted Fighter.

  • Appearance: Christelle is tall and slender, with her long blonde hair tucked in a ponytail behind her to keep it out of her blue , crystalline eyes. She wears little else apart from blue robe with black pants underneath. On her hands and feet however, are a set of steel gauntlets and greaves, designed to give extra power to punch and kick attacks, while still allowing flexibility of her limbs.

  • Personality: Christelle is proud, somewhat haughty, and hot-blooded, all which led to her being cast out. However, with her comrades around, she's friendly and loyal. She's taken a solemn vow to help all those that need it, that she would never fight for an unjust cause. Still, she's rather...against going back to her hometown, and is prone to regrets and reconsidering the path she is on, if she can even hope to contend with others that might be better than her. Despite her proud exterior, she's rather lacking in the self-esteem department.

  • Bio: Christelle came from a small town, goes by the name Pescal, near a monks retreat. Christelle used to be fascinated by what the monks could do with their bare hands and feet, and she grew up in awe of them. After she was old enough, she joined them, learning from them how to use one's own body as one's perfect weapon. However, she was too radical for them, much too obsessed with fighting for what was right, and she was cast out. As such, she took to the road, wandering around and helping others with bandits and what not. Her skills as a bare handed fighter have earned her the title of "The Thunder Goddess", due to her agility and powerful punches. When she heard about the king who resisted Zero Edge and his claim for the throne, she decided that this must truly be a worthy man to fight for, and signed up to join.

  • Weapons and Equipment: As a monk, Christelle is strong, resilient and agile, while by no means unintelligent. She carries little equipment apart from her greaves and gauntlets, given to her by the monks before she was banished.

  • Magic: When fighting, she enters a sort of battle trance, her agility, strength, speed and reflexes reaching their peak, allowing her to perform amazing feats of acrobatics and power, like punching someone clean across the room, or catching an arrow. This is caused by her altering her body's energy, a technique taught to her by the monks. She's also able to fight blind, even with multiple opponents around her.

  • Et Cetera: She's a decent violin and piano player. Her natural agility lets her perform almost Matrix-esque acrobatics.

I hope a lightning bruiser mixed with a bit of Fragile Speedster will be acceptable.

  • Name: Roy Barmard, aka "The Bloody Duke."
  • Age: 29
  • Species: Human.
  • Job: Former member of the landowning gentry. Now subsists off of a considerable sum of money he was able to take with him and what little he can scrounge up.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Appearance: Roy is a wiry man of average height. He has oddly large and bright hazel eyes that are both alluring and unsettling. His light brown hair is often messy and tangled. His pale skin is generally smooth and soft. This is not the case around his long hands, as they are callused and covered with nicks and scars. His teeth are kept well cleaned and he has a very warm, inviting smile. Roy typically wears a black cloak that is patched in several places with red fabric and stained with difficult to identify substances. Beneath this he wears a lightweight set of armor made from dark leather that is similarly patched and stained. He is also in a black and red mask that conceals his entire face. On his belt he carries a long knife, a small pouch, and a number of vials stuck through loops on the belt. He also carries a fair-sized knapsack on his back.
  • Personality: Roy is a polite, refined gentleman. He is cordial to virtually everyone from the highest of nobles to the lowest of beggars. He is generous with what he do not require and apologetic when he cannot give aid to the needy. He would often throw lavish parties and invite the entire town so that they could all experience the luxury if only temporarily. He is quite fond of art and artists, and he would pay extraordinary sums for their work when he could. He would do his best to practice as many forms of art as he could. Unfortunately he also considers torture and murder to be forms of art, his favorite at that. While this clearly means that he isn't at all right in the head, he is lucid enough to realize that others do not share his tastes. This does not stop him from trying to show them the light though. Roy is most alive when he is practicing his arts and will often mix them with his other great love: alchemy.
  • Bio: Roy was born to a noble family in the secluded hamlet of Roretshire. He was an odd, quiet child with a habit of silently sneaking around the village and estate. He was trained in knife fighting by a local hunter and alchemy by the local apothecary. As he grew older, he became obsessed with poisons, pain, and mutilations, an obsession that he would often exercise on the local wildlife. This did not stop when his parents died and he inherited their lands, it only grew. He began to kidnap people and introduce them to his arts, murdering them if he thought they wouldn't make a good acolyte. Roretshire being a idyllic, sleepy village, no one ever made the cut. Roy was able to keep practicing this way until one of his would be victims ran screaming from his estate. An angry mob quickly formed to execute him. They accused him of murdering over a dozen people, practicing forbidden forms of alchemy, mutilating innocent victims, and worshiping demons. This is of course ridiculous; only an idiot would worship demons. When the mob reached the estate, they found the Roy had fled with a fair portion of the family's coffers. He wandered the country for a while in secret until he heard of the Dark King. Believing the fallen hero to be a kindred spirit, Roy set off to swear fealty to him.
  • Weapons and Equipment: In his knapsack Roy carries the essentials for any wandering adventurer as well as a basic field alchemy kit. He has a fair amount of coin left over from his travels. His cloak is lined with numerous hidden pockets that contain many different kinds of knives. The long knife on his belt is a family heirloom named, Serpent's Fang. It is crafted from an extremely durable metal and contains a hollow portion that can be used to deliver poisons without dousing the blade.
  • Magic: Roy is a skilled alchemist and, given the right ingredients, he can create fantastical elixirs and extracts. He is most skilled with poisons but is knowledgeable in all alchemic fields.
  • Other: Roy prefers to avoid combat when he can. His ideal strategy is to maneuver foes into helpless situations. When he must fight, Roy hangs back behind his allies and takes his enemies by surprise with his knives. He mixes this debilitating and lethal poisons to quickly bring down an enemy.
