So, here's the Etotama thread. I'm enjoying it so far. It's quite funny, and the battles are decent. However, the latest episode did something that came so out of left-field...

Like, really. There must be an episode 3 curse or something. All for the sake of shock factor. Well, unlike what happened in that show, this was truly shocking! And yes, there were some candidates that perished last episode, but that's what they were. Candidates. Not someone who's already one of the 12!

Drat, and I rather liked her Verbal Tic, too...

An eto cafe is probably a good idea. You can be served by the eto-musume who matches your zodiac animal for maximum fortune. Unless you were born in the year of the rat because Chu-tan is da evulz. Nya-tan could cosplay as the rat.

And Uri-tan's back. Makes sense that the Eto-shin have infinite lives like the Touhou fairies. 'Sides, it would've been a big problem if the eto-shin had permadeath locked on them. Becuase Nya-tan would've been unable to become a member of the zodiac.

Usa-tan's producer soul is to be feared. 4-D! Character knowledge! Inabamen! She's a step above everyone!

Yep, being an eto-musume sucks. All those hoops just to become a new chara.

She may be dim most of the time, but Nya-tan's efforts in cheering Takeru up were no lie.

Takeru is more sad than Nya-tan about her best friend...may mean eto musume respawn, but if so the girls are jerks for not telling him sooner.

Yep, she's back.

Nya-tan's new ambition is to become a truly original character. The others berate her for attempting to break free of the constraint of anime tropes, claim she will never be anyone's waifu.

Usa-tan deconstructs everyone's weak, bland, overlapping characters. Usa-tan thinks she is best girl, when she is actually the same as everyone else, a poorly-defined cliche storm.

By all accounts, Nya-tan's carnivorism should be offensive to the pig, the cow, the chicken, and the rabbit but nope.

Look at Usa-tan, trying to be the ojou and use an Alice in Wonderland motif. What a weak, pitiful attempt.

Okay, fine. Usa-tan is a pretty decent character, I guess.

Look at her milking the Alice in Wonderland thing. It's been done to death, babe. You're beating a dead Uma-tan.

Nya-tan proves herself the better waifu!

Hm, looks like Sol/Lull is one of the important gases in the air. And Mei-tan can whip up some for medicinal purposes at will. How convenient.

A sick episode with swimsuits and bath towels, oh my.

This coulda been avoided if Nya-tan wasn't Nya-tan.

The more surprising thing should be that Usa-tan, Mei-tan and Uma-tan aren't vegetarians, but vegetarians are basically unheard of in anime.

Shar-tan is awesome. Don't touch the water, guys. It's too hard to animate.

I liked the extreme shogi training. Quite fun and creative. ...Not for Nya-tan at first, though.

At the end of the day, Nya-tan's still Nya-tan. But she's up for a game of shogi should she ever get into the mood.

So the new law was ingrained into the system... That, in hindsight, was a stupid thing to do!

Ah, so that's why Mo-tan loves Nya-tan so much. It was obvious, but seeing foam hair in the rain was worth it.

Ox and mouse come to blows. And Mo-tan had Chu-tan on the ropes! Impressive.

Etotama Kagura Senguu, this show's version of the Heart Rip Fatality. Chu-tan, you've fallen too far!

Before she departs, a gift from the ox. Now Nya-tan may have a fighting chance.

I'm kind of surprised they went the drama route. I kind of want my ridiculous comedy, but that was a pretty awesome fight though.

And now...

In the past, Chu-tan was greatly relied on. And Shaa-tan was her mentor. No wonder Shaa-tan always seemed worried about her.

Nya-tan, too, was reliable. But she was quite flighty, as cats usually are. Poor Piyo-tan, by the way.

So that's why Chu-tan got filled with negativity... And it's so overwhelming that Mei-tan's suggestion didn't pan out the way it should have...

Nya-tan's back^note Mo-tan's full of sweet surprises, ain't she?, but is still the same. Meaning she was always like that. And she's Sol/Lull charged up and ready to rock! Stamp out Chu-tan's negative feelings!

Awesome start to the episode.

Huh, so Nya-tan called dibs on the EKS.

Shouldering everything truly was bad for Chu-tan's health.

Turns out the EKS can also restore damaged Etotama. Which led to an epic out-of-character moment for Chu-tan. But, like, not seeing Nya-tan all the time can do that to a mouse.

See, even Takeru can see the good side of being out-of-character. Him totally ignoring the "serious" Manager was funny. And the Manager was glad with Takeru's choice. No job interviews, yay!

And yet...and yet... Despite Nya-tan's hard work, she didn't get into the Zodiac. Since everyone's chill now, she can return to being a wanderer. But...she wanted to... "Shaggy Dog" Story at its finest.

Heh, The Power of Love did prevail. Glad to see ya okay, Mo-tan.

And so, Nya-tan, with Mo-tan in tow, wanders the earth, getting into skirmishes here and there.

Funny and lovable characters, very good CG. A hidden diamond of the season, this show is.
