Upon release, though. TOTK is off and running and the Switch 2 is still mere rumor. Of course, everyone hopes it will be backwards compatible, so maybe that doesn’t matter. Perhaps an Updated Re-release with Switch 2 features (and the ability to load existing save data) could happen.
Nintendo’s consoles are usually backwards-comparable unless the storage medium changes (N64 to Gamecube, Wii U to Switch), so I expect the next one will be as long as it still uses cartridges.
Nintendo invested in larger-sized game cards and that's what Tears of the Kingdom is running on right? So I would expect the Switch's successor to at least keep a similar format.
I always assumed every Nintendo first party game past Xenoblade 3 would get some sort of next gen upgrade patch at some point like a lot if games on the PS 5 or XBS.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."What if they made the next console that's not only game backwards compatible, but console backwards compatible? As in, you can insert the entire Switch into it?
-Witty line-Technically, Nintendo attempted something similar with the Famicom Disk System. The problem is that this would require having a Switch already, so the new "system" would be just an add-on (plus, the FDS had a bewy of issues that led Nintendo to drop it after only two years).
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Not really? The SNES is not backwards compatible with the NES, and the N64 can't play SNES games. All three are cartridge-based consoles. The Wii and Wii U are the exceptions if anything, and the Wii's ability to play GameCube games was removed from later models.
Nintendo is better about it with their handhelds, however. Every single one before the Switch has had backwards compatibility. I do expect them to continue this trend with the Switch successor, but I also wouldn't be entirely surprised if there's a cutoff again.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The 2DS has no Game Boy slot, so it's only partially backwards compatible.
None of the 3DS models have GBA Slots. But they're still able to play original DS games.
Edit: Oh you meant for accessories that use the slot like that one Guitar Hero game. Still, mostly backwards compatible.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?My bad. I must’ve been thinking about handhelds. Not sure why I got them mixed up that badly.

You might have been thinking of the D Si.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Something interesting about certain second installments (by such I'm referring to the second game released on a system) in the Zelda series is that they have required something additional to be played in their original systems. Majora's Mask needed the Expansion Pak, Skyward Sword needed a Wii Motion Plus (or alternatively a Wiimote Plus), and now Tears of the Kingdom needs a larger-capacity game card (EDIT: unless you got the game digitally, that is).
I remember reading somewhere about early rumors back in 2009 claiming that Spirit Tracks would only be able to run on a DSi, but that was debunked. I didn't use to follow Zelda news too closely around that time (accessing Internet wasn't easy for me those days XD), so I cannot confirm those claims existed. That said, I wouldn't surprise me that Nintendo at least considered the possibility.

135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Is that why even though I went through the trouble of buying a physical copy of Mortal Kombat 11 for the Switch, it took a shit-load of time to install and a shit-load of memory? Now it makes sense.
I don't actually have that game anymore though, I dropped off of Mortal Kombat 11 so traded it in.
NES, SNES, GB NSO June 2023 out now!
Not sure what the baseball game being released in Japan is.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."The baseball game that Japan got is simply called Super Ultra Baseball.
For someone who never played a simulation game, is the SNES Harvest Moon game a good gateway entry (as in, is it a game a beginner can enjoy)? Or should I look for a different option?
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300With Tilt n Tumble being on here, that means Warioware: Twisted is likely.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.Tilt n Tumble being here is cool if only because they preserved the motion controls. And like said it means we can get WarioWare.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?If they ever add Wii games, gimmie Wario Ware Smooth Moves.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.×4: On the Harvest Moon subreddit, one of the more recent posts was a warning about how rough the first game is, so no.
For example, the good sized inventory you can expand as you go along that future games do is not there. You only have space for two tools and one item.
If you actually want to play a farming simulation, either wait for the now inevitable NSO port of the N64 game (not the first GBC game cause that's purely farm sim), or pick up the Friends of Mineral Town remake or Stardew Valley.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of the new Zelda game, but I've heard people say great things about it, and from what I've seen of it I'm gonna have a blast. In the meantime, I've kept myself occupied by playing the "we have TOTK at home" card (read: playing Immortals Fenyx Rising.)
Regarding Kirby Tilt N Tumble and other tilt control-enabled games, Yoshi Topsy Turvy could end up on the GBA emulator too sooner or later.
BREAKING: Scaramouche Reportedly Caught Doing the FandangoI'd be interested in Tot K if it wasn't 400 hours long.
I still need to finish Tri Force Heroes before allowing myself to play Breath of the Wild, let alone Tears of the Kingdom.
On the flip side, my wife got me Fire Emblem Engage for my birthday a few months ago and I’m finally freed up to start it.
I actually just realized that I was playing three houses when we moved into our apartment together, and I might be playing Engage when we move into our first house…
Yeah, don't forget that Twilight Princess (Gamecube, Wii) and BOTW (Wii U, Switch) were multiplatform upon release.
