To be fair, Xenogears either needs a straight port, or getting Monolith on board to actually finish it for a Complete Version.

Speaking of Xenogears, a PS2 exclusive trilogy that I think needs some love is Xenosaga. Add in a fourth episode a la Dot Hack GU Last Recode and there's gonna be tons of Gnosis ass to kick.

8 Bit Music Theory has done a video analysing the themes of Smash thorough the series. Very interesting watch even if you're not familiar with music theory!

A whole pack, with Pauline on a Motor Scooter, a Tosterenan on a Jaxi, Cappy in an Odyssey-themed car, and a Shiverian. Just a Shiverian, by himself, no cart. He bounces.

"Retail Release Of The Banner Saga Trilogy Requires Net Download And microSD Card"

Welp, there goes another set of games I might've bought physically, but now I won't because they decided to half-ass it like this (and I'm not the only one who feels this way, if most of the comments in the article are any indication).

Ok.

Maybe the issues with space (and how some companies aren't making the effort to make those games fit) might work against the Switch in the future.

Is this something we should all start worrying about?

Frankly I stopped caring about 3rd parties' efforts years ago. They stopped giving a shit about Nintendo around the N64 and later.

Why thought?

I mean, I kinda got it back then, but you'd think with some of the shit Nintendo has offered and the opportunities (being able to play a full console game anywhere) they'd jump on that shit.

Plus, wasn't the Wii practically printing money?

The Wii was indeed a smash hit, but a lot of third-parties were reluctant to support it due to it having weaker hardware than the PS3 and X360.

Yeah. But it was a hit despite that.

And they could have been in on that if they'd supported it.

Not the Wii U is understandable, but the Switch...there's good money there, but I'm guessing Nintendo's lack of emphasis on power is causing a similar reaction.

I don't believe there's a conspiracy where 3rd parties want Nintendo to fail, but I think there's a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy involved. Basically, Nintendo doesn't have the same kind of appeal as Sony and Microsoft do with their console and games, thus 3rd parties feel that their stuff will not sell due to different appeal and lower player count. Add Nintendo's limiting technical specs (graphics, RAM, storage, etc) and 3rd parties feel like there's no point in even trying, thus they either avoid Nintendo entirely or use their platform to launch spin off titles for a quick buck.

In turn, people will see that Nintendo doesn't have a big lineup of 3rd party games and will ignore them for Nintendo's games instead. Then 3rd parties that are struggling or are new to the scene will see that no one wants a 3rd party game. Repeat cycle endlessly. 3rd parties have to put in effort to have their game succeed on a Nintendo console and adjust their expectations accordingly.

On a related note, 2K is pleased with their sales on the Switch. Which is why we are looking forward to their most beloved and wanted game in the history of the company, Carnival Games.

The thing with the seventh generation of consoles is that the Wii wasn't just underpowered or had a much different control scheme than the PS 3 or Xbox 360, but it had a different architecture. All of these added up to where developers basically needed secondary teams to build games or ports for the Wii from the ground up. Eventually, developers just stopped developing games for the Wii. It's also one of the many reasons developers stopped making games for the Wii U as well, except for the token yearly release of Just Dance from Ubisoft or the niche games either funded by Nintendo themselves or built with Nintendo properties.

The Switch has a control scheme and an architecture similar to it's contemporaries and while not as strong as them, it can easily be ported to, unless the Switch can't support said engine (like what happened with DQXI and it's version of UE 4 it was originally developed in)
