[up][up] I don't know why he acts like it's a twist that a ghost is the killer, because it's blatant from the Logo Joke.

Huh even know this film has one of the worst commercials I have seen in a while (it is so Narm-y it's not even funny). Apparently from what I have read on it and the few clips I seen of it was actually done rather well. Here's a summary of the plot

So essentially Laura was a Alpha Bitch type of bully who had a falling out with Blaire, the protagonist, in the past. Someone from that group filmed her at a wild party getting drunk, soiling herself, and it was implied that she was also raped as well (the person who filmed it even went so far as to draw arrows to her crotch at one point). The video gets posted online and the sex rumours got out so she got harassed to a huge degree. Laura kills herself presumably at high school 3 days after that with a gun.

Strike one for the so called protagonists so far. It was later on revealed on the anniversary of her death that the group didn't essentially give a shit that there bully killed herself. Hell Ken even went so far as saying something along the lines of She deserved to die. Blaire apparently sex chats Mitch (her boyfriend) at one point after she watched the video of Laura's drunk escapades or her suicide, this Foreshadows that something isn't quite right with her. Strike 2 for the so called protagonists here.

So they all tune in to Skype for the anniversary....and the 7th user appears. Then the violent deaths start to happen (Ken I think was the first one to go). Laura somehow manages to capture Blaire cheating on Mitch on film twice (presumably she is able to control computer camcorder memory...or something) which pretty much is Strike 3 for the protagonists. Blaire and Mitch make up at one point, which I am calling bullshit on. You should not get away with that no matter what gender you are. On top of that when Mitch and Blaire are the last alive Laura asks who posts the video and Blaire tells Mitch did it.....

....And well, he is forced to commit suicide by impaling himself on a knife. Thereafter Laura reveals that it was Blaire who did the filming and that she knew that fact all along. Laura kills her and positions her so it looks like she committed suicide out of guilt for the posting of the video. So ironically all along she became a rather nasty bully and person herself (she earns the trope of a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing disturbingly well) out of revenge.

No one is really innocent in this film, you don't see that too much nowadays. I will admit I don't agree with the cyberbullying suicides being capitalized myself but at least the film potrays how shitty of a problem it is. I am not familiar with Skype but judging by what I have seen it actually got how it works right right.

So all in all despite how the commercials and the idea was made it look pretty stupid it seems to be a pretty decent film. Rather realistic (accept for the ghost of course) on the topic of cyberbullying

Yeah, I agree with the presumptions of the script being poorly written but I liked what I saw. Reminded me if the Saw franchise had John Kramer as a ghost girl.

There were some nice subtle touches that weren't outright spoken which I liked but one thing nagged me. That frikkin half-way empty battery symbol. The film could've used it as a way to add more tension but it just kept staying like that throughout the movie.

I liked it. It was stupid, but I liked it. I thought it was technically well-crafted, and well-acted.

This was one of the boring piece of shit I ever saw. The entire first hour is them just bullshitting on their computers. I would've walked out except I already paid and my pride wouldn't let me.

So I saw the film. Not much to say, the concept was kinda neat, and it's shot well. But the script was terrible, and that Jump Scare in the end was fucking dumb.

It was... meh, I guess, not much to say.

[up] Yeah, total pipe dream judging by the box office take. (BTW, its RT score has been steadily declining.)

I'll wait until this hits On Demand/DVD. In the meantime… let's move on to the next Found Footage wannabe.

I guess Emer Prevost of Reaction And Review was right all along, eventually people will stop liking it.

I actually liked it, even though the trailers seemed pretty dumb. It's very short, only 82 minutes long, but I think that's a fine length for the type of movie it is. It managed to keep the pacing and tension up pretty well.

I don't interact with teenagers in my daily life, so I can't really criticize the dialogue, but the way they acted seemed pretty believable. First they assume that the other party is a glitch, then a troll, then they begin to realize what's actually going on. Also as the movie goes on they get more freaked out, the one guy who was drinking got more aggressive and angry.

Also you gradually learn more about these people, and how they've done some pretty awful things both to each other and to the girl who killed herself. And they react realistically as their secrets get out.

The movie also does a good job of establishing the rules. In fact the forum post that the main character keeps going back to says exactly what she needs to do in order to make the spirit go away.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good "avenging spirit" type movie with a clever premise and execution.

It's not very gory. There are more jump scares, and the kills are shot in such a way that you only see them very briefly, leaving a lot to your imagination. I found that to be a very effective technique. In the trailer, there's a shot where the guy sticks his hand in a blender. That's about as explicit as it gets. It's disturbing, but not Clive Barker levels of Gorn.
