General Nintendo thread

Ten bucks say it'll be four minutes long and everyone will get upset about it not announcing whatever popular theory for the next game is.

Well, it was already confirmed to be 20 minutes long, so...

I wanting Bayonetta 3 news and Just at my birthday they do a Pokémon direct instead a general one like If was a personal taunt at me,I furious now.

Unless they annouce that Bayonetta 3 Will have some summon thing like Astral Chain and we have some Pokémon on it.

For what it's worth, PlatinumGames has teased some big announcements and surprises coming this year, so chances are that we'll get some big info from them sooner or later.

Pokemon Directs have historically always been a week or two before general ones so keep an eye on next week.

It should also be pointed out that excluding one set of Directs in fall 2013 (and technically the first Pokemon Direct, but just barely), every single Pokemon Direct has been followed or has followed a general Direct within two weeks.

Time between a Pokemon Direct and general Direct:

January 2013: 15 days

September 2013: 28 days

February 2016: 6 days

June 2017: 7 days

February 2019: 14 days

June 2019: 6 days

That being said, I was hoping to catch a standard Direct during my vacation this week rather than scrambling to catch it next week when I go back to work.

I was hoping for a standard Direct, too, imma be real. As a fan of Pokemon, this is nice.

Well so much for a Smash Direct unless the final character is Pokemon.

So I'm gonna take a wild guess here & say that people are still pissed off with Pokemon?

Oh please, people are pissed at anything that isn't Smash.

For me personally, I was expecting a general Direct, but wasn't expecting a Pokemon Direct at all. So it mainly caught me off guard. Especially since we're at least 5 months out from any new mainline Pokemon game announcement.

I also want to point to my post above stating that general Directs and Pokemon Directs are usually within two weeks of each other.

I don't keep track, but I don't recall having 2 directs in the same months before.

I usually recall people being pissed off when it not their IP's

Months with a general Direct and another Direct within the same month since 2017:

• January 2017: Switch presentation + Fire Emblem Direct
• April 2017: general Direct + Feh Channel
• June 2017: Pokemon Direct + E3 + Japan Only Dragon Quest XI Direct
• September 2017: Feh Channel + general Direct
• March 2018: general Direct + Nindies Showcase
• February 2019: Feh Channel + general Direct + Pokemon Direct
• June 2019: Pokemon Direct + Feh Channel + E3
• September 2019: general Direct + Dragalia Digest

To be honest the thing that I'm most curious about is what they are actually going to announce. Directs tend to be about games, and the only games I would expect to need a Direct would be main line games. But everyone keeps saying it is to early for DP Remakes or SWSH U/2, but to be honest given how rushed pokemon games seem to be now adays I wouldn't be surprised if they did announce DP remakes.

Feh channel fits the concept of a specialized Direct even if it isn't announced prior.

Many people I've seen are speculating spin-offs, most likely sequels to Detective Pikachu (which has been announced, but no gameplay) and a possible sequel to Pokken, but the one thing everyone is in agreement is that this is likely where they are going to fully unveil Pokemon Home, since Pokemon Bank was available to transfer starting three months out from each game prior.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. A remake of Red and Blue Rescue Team. Releases on March 6th, and a demo (with save data transfer) drops today.

Sword and Shields Expansion Passes are coming; they'll act as the classic "third game".

The Direct literally ended partway through.

That was weird. I don't think there was much left, but I think something messed up on their end.

Ran into that too.

There's a clip that ran twice. It must have run them short on time.

The Armor Isle trailer repeated and then the trailer stopped while they were still talking.

Well at least now I know the You Tube app wasn't totally screwing up by repeating that trailer, and was only screwing up by freezing the video every so often.

Either way, the You Tube recording seems to be fine, but then again, given how quickly Nintendo gets Directs up, I suspect they upload the full Direct ahead of time as a separate video and let that process, and then the stream is another instance of the full Direct with some extra for the before and after parts, so the recording wouldn't be affected by stream issues...

Anyways, the Direct was the trailer for Rescue Team DX (something like two minutes), the trailers for the Expansion Passes (3-5 minutes), some more in-depth stuff on the Expansion Passes (about 10 minutes), the release date for Pokémon Home (sometime next month), and announcements on stuff happening currently in Sword and Shield (along with the announcement of a patch releasing today).

Oh, and the Expansion Passes are available for prepurchase later today, at $30 each. Pokémon is getting expensive, looks like I might have picked the right time to quit playing the main games....

Just to clear up possible misinformation, you get both expansion regions for 1 version for $30. If you have both Sword and Shield, you will have to pay $60 if you want to access the expansion regions on both versions.
