All for One, planting a time bomb Quirk into Nagant while giggling like a schoolgirl: "No no, this is all part of a rational plan to wear down Deku's heroic will by making him hate me more than he loves saving people, I'm not just doing it for fun".

All For One: I'm also doing it for fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if All for One has like, a checklist of villain cliches that he wants to use. The flashback did show he admired Comic Book Villains since he was a kid after all, so it wouldn't surprise me if his bucket list was basically "do this villainous cliche before I die".

I expect if he ever had one of those he completed it years ago.

Now he's just repeating the ones he found most fun.

What AFO is doing right now, is taking his "old faithful car" out for one last run before it gets scrapped for that newer and better model that's currently getting fixed in the shop.

Driving around and smashing letter boxes with a baseball-bat out the window as he heads down the side way...laughing while doing so and leading the cop cars around on a wild goose-chase as he does it.

Am I alone in finding that Rebel's defense of Nagant of "she was conditionned to be a tool, therefore she's innocent in my eyes" to be weirdly conflicting with the view that "Touya was born a shithead and endeavor isn't responsible for his kid turning out that bad" despite the fact Touya being conditionned in pursuing the same aspiration as his father is explictly raised as part of the problem ?

This is probably opening two immense cans of worms at once, so I'll just say I'm geniunely kinda curious how Rebel reconciles both views more than judgemental in asking that question, and everyone has my permission to slap me in the face if I try to continue this line of discussion past Rebel's hypothetical response.

I think other people have said it, but it is probably a matter of our first exposure to them. Also, I'd wager because Rebel has this whole thing about the whole system being terrible and wanting to tear it down, his primed to give a lot of leeway to someone who was working directly in that system but then turned against it.

That would be a perfect idea for some kind of spinoff. A fanfiction, or one of those 4-koma comic series things.

I could see there being a one shot set at the dawn of quirks where we follow this quirkless dude reacting to everything and being frustrated about not getting superpowers.

And then at the end he learns he can steal quirks.

One comment on Nagant - while the Commission obviously bears some responsibility for grooming her into an assassin, she could have chosen to skip straight to the way her career ended at any point. Refuse to do black-ops assassinations for them when asked, Commission tries to use force to get her to do so anyway, she uses force back and then gets imprisoned to maintain their reputation. If she did that right at the start, her imprisonment would be entirely unjust, since anything she did at that point would be in self defense against people trying to force her to do illegal things.

[up] Easy when said from the "spectator seat"...

She grew up doing this stuff for the Commission and knew that if she went up against them, they would send someone like her to shut her up.

So she kept going, until she couldn't take it, and shot one of the cancer tumors in the Commission when it delivered a threat back at her in self-defense, the same way she was taught to deal with people like the Chairman, by the commission, no less.

The best and only way to deal with cancer, is to kill it, kill it, and kill it hard so it can't kill the rest of the body by being left alone.

Nagant cut out one tumor.

Re-Destro struck it with the Chemo.

After all, if the Commission is going to implement a system, then it is only fair that they get the same scrutinizing look by it as well and not get excluded from its parameters...

Ironically while trying to destroy the body. You get lucky, sometimes, even if it remains to be seen whether they recover from all the damage.

You guys are really making a lot of assumptions about Nagant's mental state that have never been implied.

She already told us why she killed those guys. She obeyed. She complied. She did her duty. Just Following Orders, that's her excuse (actually she's not really trying to give an excuse).

There's no indication that anybody was twisting her arm, and considering she killed the guy who tried, it's unlikely it happened.

And you can say they groomed her, but she's clearly not a brainwashed soldier devoted to the cause considering she did end up questioning everything. She also didn't grow up thinking that was normal, they picked her up in middle school. Quite the opposite, in fact, that's why she broke to begin with.

Nagant was an adult woman in full use of her mental faculties when she killed all those people. She absolutely is as responsible for their deaths as the commission is.

All that said, from the beginning the focus was on the commission being bad because of their lying and using Nagant as a tool, not necessarily the murder, so I'm genuinely unsure how bad we're supposed to think Nagant's assassin career was.

But either way, you can't held the commission responsible and then acquit Nagant. Either those crimes matter and she should be held accountable for them or they don't.

[up]x4….That’s literally why you target kids and radicalize them for causes. It’s much easier and, by proxy, much harder to convince them that what they’re doing is wrong if you groom them enough. The younger the better. Her successor was way younger than her than when she was recruited too.

Not to mention it was the fact she spill so much blood that made her second guess what she was doing, because kids came to look up to her without knowing what she was really doing. That’s what sparked her hatred for secrecy. The death she was causing and kids looking up to her with optimism without realizing she was in her own eyes not someone to look up to.

Didn't expect the main villain to look like Gankutsuo. Although does that give your message that quirks are evil indications of a doomsday more or less weight if you yourself are a heteromorph?

There's something very amusing about Burnin appearing in two separate movies before even debuting in the anime.

Also, they weren't satisfied with making the egyptian hero a pharaoh, they had to make him a fucking hieroglyph.

Something I saw pointed out was that the hair on one of those silhouettes that AFO was talking to looked like Chimera from the second movie. Just something to keep in mind, just in case.

The first AFO vestige flashback did show him persuading a heteromorph who was facing heavy discrimination to his side by transferring his quirk onto someone else. And Chimera said that he'd been called a monster for his entire life, so it would be a cakewalk for AFO to recruit him. All he'd have to do is offer Chimera a chance to get back at the society who shunned him. Probably by saying something along the lines of, "If the world sees you as a monster, then be the strongest monster of all!"
