So I wasn't on board with the revival from the start, but decided to check it out being that I remember watching the original and it being a fun show.

Is it amazing? A revolutionary update? Not really, because it's intentionally a throwback. They do play with the conventions of the original, no Golden Moment or Sentimental Music Cue goes unlampshaded. There is a lot of overt Breaking the Fourth Wall moments, the best one was mentioning that Michelle can't make the party because she is running a fashion Empire in New York, with the entire cast doing a several seconds long Aside Glance to the audience.

The show is still Taste Like Diabetes, so much of the humor depends on if you're okay with that and the traditional Studio Audience laughter. All original cast cameos come with deafening applause not seen since Happy Days.

But besides my hesitations, there is something oddly comforting about the whole show, both In-Universe and out. It's more willing to touch upon the darker undertones of the premise: DJ being a widow, Stephanie has had some drug and alcohol adventures, Kimmy trying to keep her daughter's love even while going through a divorce.

And some non-meta jokes are done with such gusto I couldn't help but laugh. The Dancing with the Stars guys busting their shirts open was absurdly hilarious, as well as Fernando slapping DJ's coworker with a rubber kitchen glove.

I didn't see much of Full House because it was too sweet for me but I really don't remember this much about significant others and children.

Okay, I admit. I watched Full House back when the show was on, even though nothing ever really happened in this show. There was something comforting about it.

And now that I have given Netflix a shot, I couldn't resist it, I had to take a peak. And...I actually keep watching it. It is not good for binge watch because it becomes annoying really fast, but from time to time, when I just want a little bit mindless entertainment I put it on. I am not half through the season. I don't think that I will watch all the way through anytime soon because I have discovered that Firefly is actually a fun watch if you start at the beginning instead of encountering a later episode and watching it not knowing what is going on, and I don't watch that much TV to begin with but, yeah, as far as rebooted shows go, this one works for a change.
