High School DxD Fanfiction thread

Here be a place for High School Dx D fanfiction discussions.

Though that being said, I haven't found any good Dx D fanfiction yet, or at least straight Dx D fanfiction. The ones I've found have been crossovers.

Gabriel Blessing's Beyond the Outer Gates Lie... and the one shot High School SAO.

Anyone got any recs for non-crossover fics... or even other crossovers to tide things over until someone translates volume 18.

If its the one I'm thinking of (Harry becomes one of Serafell's peerage), I took a stab at it but never really felt the love. Gabe resolved the differences between the universes by dimension hopping but just trying to smush them together doesn't really work. It's hard to see Levi-tan, Sirzechs, Grayfia and the rest existing in the same world as the Nickelheads.

Well of course if you don't like something you don't like something (I can't tell you the number of recommended fanfics I've checked out from here only for them to not catch my interest), in a setting that already has multiple versions of werewolves and vampires, there being two different types of angels and fallen angels didn't really bother me.

I'll be honest, I don't think I could enjoy a Dx D fanfic that *wasn't* a crossover, or at least, have Issei shoved over into the background.

Because the canon main character gets on my nerves. It's the same with The Familiar Of Zero. Main character is too annoying.

Main male character or main female character?

come to think of it, both. but mostly the guy. As the "ordinary guy thrown into a magical world" in both stories we're supposed to relate to them, and I don't. at all.

Here's a good fanfic that is a crossover with BlazBlue.

Dhampir Meets Devil. There's Ragna/Tsubaki, but also Ragna/Akeno since the latter happened to be Childhood Friends.

I actually like Issei, just because he feels like a change of pace from the usual harem lead.

But then, that's part of why I enjoy HSDXD in general.

Okay, here it is.

Didn't notice this, if anyone wants to get rid of the other one I made.

On the other hand, the fact that Some people want to shove Issei in background miss the point of him entirely. He isn't some guy who tries to hide his perversion like other protagonists or is completely pure and sweet. He's proud of his status, it makes him stand out.

Helps that later novels develop him and even his parents in very interesting ways (like how's it's revealed in volume 20 that's he's the third child out of two that they were trying to have, with the previous 2 being miscarriages).

I'm aware that the novels exist, but I still haven't ever touched one of 'em yet.

Trust me, your missing out a lot. The anime has only covered 7 (and parts of the 8 to use for filler due to it being an Omake novel of sorts) so far out of the 20 canonical novels.

The new Diabolus x Dragon form Issei has is Holy Shit levels of awesome.

I've still only seen the first season of the anime, so yeah, I'm perfectly aware that there's a lot I'm missing out on.

Any cool fics for this series anyone would recommend?

Welp, Kyugan's got a new fic crossover running, this time putting post-HF Shirou Emiya in the world of High School Dx D, apparently somewhere in the third season of the latter.

It seems pretty good so far, but then, I like a lot of Kyugan's stuff.

It's good, though Kyugan has a bad habit of never finishing what he starts...

Honestly, there are not many HSDXD fics that would deserve a rec, due to: 1) if it's a crossover, there's a 90% chance that it's a Naruto crossover, with all the good and bad that entails (especially the bad). 2) if it's the vanilla DXD verse, rampant OC that are badly-written or changing the personality of some characters (HINT: Issei suddenly not being a pervert without any good reason). 3) the good ones are mostly in hiatus/dead so not really worth it.

Jesus, yeah stay away from Naruto crossovers of DxD.

Negima has the same problem with OCs and Naruto crossovers, as well as the added irritant of the fandom being swamped with seemingly a million fics of the same yuri side-couple, but with hardly any meaningful variation between them.

In other news, I actually started a HS DXD quest. ....unfortunately, I can't link to it because it's on a NSFW forum and the quest will probably eventually head in that direction too... ...and it's also on hiatus until I get the time to watch more than just the first season...

I would read the light novels after you see the anime seasons. They are pretty good reads.

Plus. Issei becomes the most badass harem protagonist ever, IMO, simply because while he matures, he still wants to be a fun loving booby loving maniac without becoming too mature to the point of being OOC.
