Hyrule Warriors is the only musou I've ever played, and while character development would not be unwelcome in the sequel, I also don't think there's much room for it.

Definitive Edition with all the DLC coming to the Switch in the Spring.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Only beat the main story in this (never got far in Cia's story) and never played the 3DS version, so this has caught my interest. Especially since I'd have to start over in the former due to losing my save data a while back.
One Strip! One Strip!I've been interested in this game since it was first announced, but I never had a Wii U, and I passed up on the 3DS version since I have an older 3DS. Glad to finally have a chance to play it.
...
I'm also not surprised by this move at all.
I do hope we can expect a few more characters squeezed out even if its just the Champions.
I'm getting a 404 screen with a picture of a lounging Wario.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If only all 404 screens could look nearly as handsome as that.
As for the Definitive Edition, I don't even mind buying the game a third time. I called this happening at some point. The crispness of the Wii U with all the content of the 3DS.
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefHmm.
I wonder if I should try and sell my Wii U copy before this comes out and upgrade to the Switch version.
I normally prefer not to sell games, but its a straight upgrade and I'd save probably a third of the price depending on if its released at full retail.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobThat might not be such a bad idea.
I lost all the save data for the game anyway, and would have already needed to start over. Might as well go completely fresh with the new version too...if I get it.
One Strip! One Strip! If you don't mind starting over I'd say go for it. Definitive Edition looks to use Legends as the basis for most of the content other than graphics, and Legends rebalanced a lot of the stuff from the original release that expected you to be a ludicrously high level with all of your characters (i.e. Twilight Map.)

Pokken Tournament Deluxe got new characters, so what are the odds Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is getting some too? Pretty high, right?
I hope I get Saria, Groose, and maybe also Nabooru, not just the Champions from Breath of the Wild.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Groose was pretty well liked right, even if there's a lot more criticism of Skyward Sword.
I can picture him getting in.
Not sure what Saria would bring to the table, what with Lana pinching the deck related stuff she could have used.
One Strip! One Strip! The game is surprisingly good at making every character feel different even though so many of them use similar weapons. But even if there's nothing remarkable about her, I still want to play as her because she's my favorite Ocarina of Time character.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Groose would be nice as would be Kass and Revali.
I'm not sure that they'll be adding anyone, given that this seems aimed at people who missed the Wii U, but the four champions would be amazing additions.
At this point, I suspect that they might, at best, add new characters as skins, but I wouldn't mind being wrong.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. They need to save someone for Zelda Musou 2. Keep the Breath of the Wild characters for that. The current iteration already has plenty of content as is.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences. They should've just done a sequel instead of a "definitive edition." I'm probably going to double-dip because I'm a sucker like that, but as someone who bought and supported the game on Wii U, I feel cheated.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Seems like it runs at an unlocked 1080p 60 FPS.
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is out tomorrow, at least here in Australia.
Seeing some advertisements today got me thinking.
I'm still not sure if I'll be buying it or not, but I'm very happy its getting released.
It's quite likely that sales should be strong riding off the BOTW hype. Since while its not a mainline Zelda, it is the first one on Switch since it was released.
I also remember how great that massive fanart boom was around the time the Wii U version released. So I'm hoping we'll see that happen again.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobWhile it sounds like a great package, i've already brought Hyrule Warriors twice. I'm just not up to going through it all again.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Same here. I mean, if someone gave it to me as a gift, I'd play it and enjoy it, but I already bought the game twice and the DLC. And I really don't want to grind out all those weapons again.
I totally get why they're doing a Switch release, but I won't be in until a sequel comes out. C'mon, Nintendo and Tecmo, you know you both want to.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. If I can get the money, I'll probably sell my old copy and get it.
Lost all my save data on it a while back, so I'd have to start over anyway.
One Strip! One Strip!
Most of the characters in Musou games are fairly undeveloped sadly. Like Midna, Groose would probably be post character development.
