Polandball

Considering that Polandball needs more love, here's a thread dedicated to the (sometimes) lovely countryballs.

Keep in mind, though, that, considering some of the more...questionable strips, it is wise to refrain from nationalistc/jingoistic attitudes. May this thread remain civil and respectful.

And, of course, Poland cannot into space yet. Though Poland has been trying.

I understand that this comic is more of a template, yes? I see comics specific to my country (Chile) a lot in a humor blog I follow.

The comic is made by artists around the world, if that's what you mean.

Basically anyone can draw it, all the countries in the world are balls. Except Israel. And political and history jokes are made.

(I mean, we Brazil count as "neighbors", right? I would want to see what kind of jokes you guys make about us)

Heh, they aren't really archived, Heatth, sorry. They just pop up from time to time. And Brazil is pretty much football and huehue — you guys aren't mocked much here. In fact, I'd say in the Chilean collective subconscious Brazil is considered something of a "big brother", probably due to keeping Argentina off our backs during the Pacific War.

I don't know. Hetalia has a bit more drama, SATW has more comedy, and Polandball has more...unusual stuff.

Why is anything involving Russia or Britain in Polandball automatically hilarious?

Here's the Polandball thread from the Paradox Interactive forums. I'd recomend jumping ahead a couple hundreds of pages and skip the earlier ones.

Fuck yeah, Polandball!

I love everything about it. The quality control and the "Official Polandball Tutorial" ensure that it stays funny and original (in contrast to every meme ever). The Stylistic Suck means that everyone, even people with zero drawing skills like me, can participate. The humour is outrageously offensive and still funny. Some comics display truly impressive historical knowledge and comedic skill. Nationalistic sentiments are taken Up To Eleven but never taken seriously (this is especially true in the Reddit comments).

You made the "Play hard, work hard" one? That one is one of the best, especially with the final line by fellow San Marino.

And the first one is a good introduction for those who want to learn Dutch history.

And the "Russia Visits Some Friends" should be posted regularly in the Guardian comments in news about or involving Russia. Both the US and Russia engage in amazing double standards.

I don't know. Some are collected in polandballcomics.tumblr.com (there are probably other tumblrs dedicated to it, I'm just citing the one I use), but all of them are basically put in Reddit.
