Or the writer for his show who quit after his years of online bigotry was exposed, including the more explicitly racist versions of the show's talking points.

Yeah, it really was oddly toothless. Honestly, it felt like that first Vox video just... puffed up a little.

Isn't there always talk of this or that celebrity running for president? How seriously are we supposed to take that?

This guy's celebrityhood is actually tied to politics, so maybe it's more of an issue this time.

When I hear white people like Carlson talk about how they "need to fight to preserve their nation and heritage" I want to say to them, "do you seriously think you have it worse than the African, Asian and Amerindian people who were slaughtered by white colonialists for doing exactly that?".

What's that? The world is trying to ban something harmful, and the US is, once again, one of the few not getting on board? Man, the US really stinks. We should just close borders with them and let them stew in their own garbage for a decade or so, instead of letting them export it to third world countries.

Oliver also talked about the Atlanta shooting and the history of Asian-American racism in the US. Including the rise in hate crimes against Asian-American people since the pandemic.

When the Right wasn't pretending the pandemic didn't exist, they were blaming it on immigrants, especially Asians. So yeah, things have gotten worse there.

x3 ...You have a right to be angry at the failure of the US government, but seriously, do you think we Americans don't know that our government has and continue to fail?

Also, why does your "we" exclude Americans? Do you think we don't watch the show? Do you think that we all deserve to wallow in garbage because we're somehow uniquely worse than the rest of the global community?

Speaking as an American, I don't blame people who'd rather not deal with our nation anymore.

Sorry, the whole thing just annoys me.

It is also particularly frustrating because the US specifically is in a position to keep getting away with crap like this.

Totally understandable. I would just ask you to remember that there's a difference between structural factors like corporate greed and people living in the country who are well aware of the problems and are at least trying to do something about them.

How many Americans are even aware that other countries are stewing in their garbage, though? That's the problem.
