I realize I have another unresolved topic in the repair shop already, but this one should not be open long as it only regards the description and the laconic. A MacGuffin is an object that serves an important role in the story despite the fact it does not actually do anything. (Qualifier being if it could be replaced with a completely unrelated object without changing the plot at all, a book to a credit card or sandal). A MacGuffin Girl is a mac guffin turned into a living creature. (whether it does anything after coming to life or not apparently does not matter). So, a Living MacGuffin would be something that was always a living creature with plot significance that nonetheless never actually did anything.

The laconic reads "Everybody wants them". Should that not be changed to "They do not do anything but everyone wants them."? The description reads that The President's daughter and distressed damsel cannot be examples, that they must be "free" but why exactly is that matter at all. If they do not do anything their status or what is done to them should not change their mac guffin status? As the page quote reads "She could be replaced by a suitcase without any changes to the plot." Well, just as a daughter can be loved or abducted the president's suitcase case can be stolen or prized.

This is actually part of the umbrella of awful MacGuffin tropes that are under discussion in https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1376252595090230900&page=1

We have this topic for laconics as well.
