Ya know what I wouldn't be surprised to see and wouldn't mind the show, er, showing?

Pinkie being thoughtlessly thoughtful. See, the thing is about her type, my type, albeit exaggerated, is that lack of restraint leads to as much smooth patches as it does hiccups.

I wouldn't be surprised if, say, she left encouraging notes on her friends' doors sometimes, just out of the blue without prompting. Used her prodigious stealth to leave them nice surprises. Go out of her way to see them smile, because she very specifically thought about it.

And, later on, get them all upset when she did something because she wasn't thinking, because there is no in-between with us.

I mean, she has a buried archive where she actively tracks everybody's significant dates, preferences, and favourite varieties of things. She's definitely thoughtful, but I wouldn't necessarily call that thoughtlessly thoughtful.

I bought the micros already. Humble Bundle, yo. Also got a hard copy of the Luna Micro and got it signed by the creators.

She doesn't think it's a big deal and barely considers an alternative to not making their day somehow. Like maybe taking the day off.

She just does.

That is both the benefit and the problem.

I think I get what GOA's saying. Pinkie Pie goes out of her way to systematically improve other ponies' days. She has extensive files and has performed a great deal of research in order to maximize her capability to improve days. Her existence revolves around doing as many things as possible to as many ponies as possible to make them all happy.

What's not clear is whether she is capable of comprehending the idea that sometimes, what someone really needs is for her to not be bothering them right now. Requests for her absence have thus far been met by stubborn persistence at best and soul-crushing despair at worst. Both Party of One and A Friend in Deed have touched on this, though unsatisfactorily.

Pinkie Pride also had Pinkie descending into the depths of existential despair at the assumption that Rainbow Dash didn't need her because Cheese Sandwich existed. This is a major character flaw of hers. For as much as she loves putting a smile on everypony's face, she also has a deep-seated emotional need to be needed to put that smile there.

It's interesting, the more I think about it. A world where everyone just sorta got along and was naturally upbeat and happy would be Hell for her.

Pinkie seems to have some codependency issues, except the person she's codependent with is everyone.

I would like her to have an episode where the moral is that sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is leave them the hell alone for awhile.

I was kind of hoping the Yak episode would go that way.

I thought they did that with Cranky Doodle Donkey's first appearance.

Not really, no. I mean, they criticized her for it, but she didn't actually learn anything from their criticisms and in the end Cranky learned to accept her.

Oh yeah, my mistake. ^_^;;

Speaking of which, why is that Pinkie gave Cranky the Welcome Wagon while Twilight only got gasped at? XD

@Demetrios: Doylist reason: The writers hadn't created the "Welcome Wagon" that early on. (The in-universe version of this answer is that Pinkie hadn't come up with the idea for her Welcome Wagon until after Twilight moved to Ponyville.)

Watsonian reason: The day Twilight arrived was the day the town was preparing for the Summer Sun Celebration (that was Twilight's stated reason for being there). Given that Pinkie threw a welcome party for Twilight, my guess is that she was probably preparing for a party anyway that day, and decided to turn into both Twilight's welcome party and a party for the Summer Sun Celebration.

She also might not have constructed the Welcome Wagon yet.

It could have been in the middle of repairs.

Given how the witches in that game cast spells by stripping naked, I'm not comfortable with the association.

@Drake: I, at once, want an episode with her friends addressing Pinkie's need to stop, both for her sake and for whomever she might railroad with her overwhelming enthusiasm, while also showcasing where she gets it right.

Quietly, unobtrusively leaving notes for Fluttershy that reassert her self-worth, and then not much later just violating Fluttershy's personal space and shattering that fragile little bubble she has because, holy shit, Fluttershy is right there and Pinkie wants to express her opinion to her right now in the way she immediately feels is the right way to express it.

This could be, indeed, a Flutter/Pinkie episode. The rest of the cast are trying to reign in Pinkie from fucking trampling over Fluttershy who, for some reason, has become Pinkie's particular focus this week. I dunno, maybe her birthday is coming up.

The thing she's puts an immense amount of thought and effort into go unnoticed by everyone because these are all quiet, subtle things, designed for Fluttershy's sensibilities in mind. Then she slips, fumbles and spurges her excitement all over Fluttershy's unwanting face and the other four get on Pinkie's case to reign it in. This makes Pinkie's try harder with even more thoughtful gestures that go unnoticed except by Fluttershy, but result in even more slips.

Fluttershy is becoming increasingly stressed, both for having far more than her recommended dosage of Fucking Pinkie Pie and quietly acknowledging the great things Pinkie has been doing, while watching her friends become increasingly irate with Pinkie and Pinkie run herself ragged to make her happy. Fluttershy puts her hoof down and gets everyone to back off. She faces Pinkie herself, thanks her for all the nice things she's done and makes Pinkie promise to abide by some ground rules to their interactions, including those for Pinkie's sake as much as Fluttershy's. The other girls apologize for ragging on Pinkie without realizing the whole story and Pinkie apologizes right back for being a spaz.

Rainbow Dash might be an interesting character here, caught between defending Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, because she actually eats Pinkie's shit right up. She might try to reach out to Fluttershy, possibly encouraging her to step up or being blind sided when Fluttershy stands up on her own.

I won't be live-commenting during the broadcast because I saw the leaked file of this ep already, but I will post my reactions to it after noon.

Hey everyone. I was going to post earlier last month, but I've had server problems with the site that prevented it. This is about the time a new ep comes on right? In a few hours?

It's airing right now I think. I'm not watching it at the moment since I'll have to leave before the end and I'd rather watch it all in one go.
