General Donkey Kong Thread

I've heard people suggest Kiddy, K. Rool, Banjo (haha, fat chance), Funky, Chunky, and all sorts of big guys.

Also, here's an awesome speed run of Donkey Kong 64.

I really like the enemy designs; they have much more character than the tikis.

Of course they do, they aren't Floating sentient mask.

@random: Hey, Majora's Mask had a lot of character to it.

I didn't mind the main music tikis (They had a surprising amount of character in their eyes and arm motions), but Tiki Tong and the normal enemies were just lifeless.

Not that I would mind, but since we're getting four characters, surely they wouldn't force DK on a player like New Bros. games forced Mario before U, right?

So guys; does Donkey Kong Counry Returns 3D offer anything new to the game, besides portability? I want to know if there's a reason to get it if I already have the Wii version, and absolutely adored running through the game in multiplayer with my brother.

It also adds an easy mode in which each character gets three hearts.

It adds an extra world.

...yeah, I think that's enough for me to want it. That and the lack of shake-to-roll, I hope.

Is there any way to do local multiplayer? Download Play, perhaps?

I absolutely adore the minecart levels in the Donkey Kong series, and this isn't doing anything to dispel that notion!

I wonder if there's another mine cart world this time around. Like time that was awesome.

I think that's just Cranky.

Wasn't there one game in the series that had a joke mode where you played as Cranky?

the GBA version of DKC 3 had something called Cranky's Dojo. He was also playable in Barrel Blast.

I was kind of hoping Retro were serious when they said they wanted to bring back Stanley the Bugman from Donkey Kong 3; But they might bring him back in another title.

I knew they would add Cranky Kong: The minute they said "There's gonna be a Fourth playable Kong", I just knew it was gonna be Cranky.

I do like Cranky Kong, but I was hoping it would be a Kremling.

I was sorta hoping that the fourth character would be Kiddy Kong, so the original DK Crew would be back together for a new adventure.

Cranky being playable is still pretty cool, though. After putting up with his bragging in the previous games, we finally get to see him put his money where his mouth is.

Okay, watched the demo, Cranky Kong actually looks really cool to play as.

Also, fuck, he uses dentures as a projectile?! Awesome. :D

So, does Donkey get anyhing unique? Or will players be fighting over who gets to be Player 2?
