Most of the DR AUs I know of are either counterparts to existing Undertale AUs or Paper Trail.
Still don't fully get the Ending Aversion for that thing...

It's not even really an ending, IMO.
But speaking of A Us, that series about a bunch of Sanses fighting against an insane Gaster received a new episode today.

The animation isn't quite as stellar as the previous one, in my opinion, but still fairly good.
It is crazy how the AU mindset exploded with Undertale. I wonder how what sparked it
-Witty line-A combination of an easily alterable setting, a young fanbase, and Underfell, if I had to wager a guess.
The reason there's less Deltarune A Us is simple. The game isn't finished yet. Thus most people who want to do things with full context are waiting for the game to finish, and there's generally less well thought out concepts rathed than proper animations/comics etc.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.If I had to guess, a lot of it can be traced to the fact that Toby's background as a Homestuck composer drew a lot of attention to Undertale right around the time when AU fics in general were taking off on sites like Tumblr.

Be kind.Undertale was rising as Homestuck was starting to fade, and the Undertale fandom grew from the seed of Homestuck alumni, though it didn't take long to draw in some fresh blood and develop its own identity, helped along by all the popular youtubers playing it. But Homestuck did, and kinda still does, inspire a lot of AU fanfic, and I can see that thread continuing.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Sans recently got added as a pop'n music cameo character (along with 3 tracks: Hopes and Dreams, Megalovania, and Battle Against a True Hero)! Didn't expect this, but Undertale music (and The World Revolving) has been in quite a few rhythm games over the last years...
now when are we getting BIG SHOT in a rhythm game

shouldn't his favorite genre be RPG and not point and click though1. I just realized that Deltarune is just an anagram for Undertale.
2. Any updates on when Chapter 3 is coming out?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.1. slowpoke.png
2. Nope, nothing concrete yet.
If I remember right, Toby mentioned that he was going to release chapters 3-5 all at once. Given that it was three years between chapters one and two, it may be a while. Although, doesn't he have help this time?
Yeah, the team is progressing much faster now. I think most of Chapters 3 and 4 are finished, how far done with Chapter 5 I'm not sure.
Wow, Chapter 1 came out in 2018? Could've sworn it was only a two year gap between Chapter 1 and 2, time flies.
But yeah, after Chapter 2, Toby put out applications for expanding the team, said something along the lines of Chapter 2's development helping majorly put down the foundation for the rest of the game, which should help development on Chapters 3-5 go smoother. We've heard the most news on Chapters 3 and 4 being worked on, no clue how far along 5 is. I'd expect to see anything about these drop in Q3/Q4 this year at the earliest, but realistically, I think 3-5 will drop sometime next year rather than this year.
And that just gave me the fridge thought that, with the current trajectory, Chapters 6 and 7 might come out on Undertale's 10th anniversary and now I feel... very old.
In a sense, this year is also a 10th anniversary (the demo came out 2013).
Tricky thing about releasing something in sections over time is that if it's too stretched out too long, people will eventually lose interest in the story, or worry that earlier hinted/foreshadowed story bits will get changed or dropped, making some things pointless. Kingdom Hearts comes to mind.
-Witty line-True, although at least the story Toby's trying to tell isn't nearly as confusing as KH and is stretched over multiple chapters rather than multiple games. Toby said something along the lines of the game's ending coming to him in a dream years before Undertale was even made, so I'd be willing to bet that this is something he's thought on for a LONG time and has planned out extensively for a long while now.
I’d expect release for the next set of chapters to be this year at earliest, though next year is looking increasingly likely.
Well, to me at least the gaps between Deltarune’s chapters make it feel like multiple games.
SoundCloudIf memory serves, Toby said that he already has the entire story for the game written out, it's just a matter of realizing it in the actual game.
Be kind.Oh that's good to hear. I get wary getting involved with stories that hint at a greater plot over a long time because the longer it takes, the higher the chances that the early hints now amount to nothing because the story changed. Same issue I have with game trailers showing snips of things but taking years to come out and things changed (Versus FFXIII, concern with potentially happening to Zelda Tot K)
-Witty line-Yeah if he's to be believed, he's actually had the story (or at least general drafts of it) written out since before Undertale; I think he said it was based on a fever dream he had about an emotional ending to a retro videogame and he decided to make it a reality
You gotta respect that. He's literally making his dream come true.
A few, but nowhere near as many as its parent game.
Undertale may be the only work of media in existence to get a wiki dedicated solely to its A Us.
