Not gonna lie... I’d actually be down with that take on Rita being canon. I’m kinda into it.

So not only does Tommy now have super speed, he can access his invisibility power in ranger form as well.

[up][up] Personally, I’m hoping that the sixth and seventh rangers add more diversity as well. I’d really like for them to do what they did with Trini and various others, by casting a woman in one of the roles so that it isn’t just one girl on a five person team.

[up][up][up] Agreed. They've already confirmed that "one is a robot", which I imagine will be PR!J.

The show's premise seems to indicate that Power Rangers Beast Morphers will be a close adaptation of the Sentai, as opposed to a more free form adaptation (Closer to Samurai or Time Force, as opposed to MMPR or Dino Charge / Ninja Steel or RPM).

The Premise given on the trailer (World runs on new energy, villain threatens that energy. Power Rangers are formed to protect said energy) is exactly Go-Buster's plot. With "Enetron" renamed as "Morphin Grid" and the villain being a Computer Virus vs Being from another dimension.

In light of that, it's a given that the Silver Ranger will remain a robot. Gold Ranger is also pretty manly when transformed, so I'd doubt he'll get the Trini treatment.

At best they might have the robot be a girl and just shrug appearance with "She's a robot" but I doubt we'll get even that as Beet J. Stag is also a pretty broad shouldered manly-shaped robot.

Yeah, I prefer it to the normal black repaint trend, I think the teal works quite well.

Compare this one, (technically Daizyuzin but who cares), which looks kind of boring.

[up][up] The Silver and Teal one is also helped by being the Soul of Chogokin mold, so ya know, it's got things like elbows. And knees.

With Nick uploading a lengthier version of Tommy's fight with his doppelganger, that seems to confirm an extended cut of Dimensions In Danger exists and ought to be coming soon.

I sure hope so. I did like Dimensions In Danger but it felt super rushed. Also way too Tommy-focused but an extended cut isn't going to fix that.

I'm thinking they should just make a show starring a bunch of retired Rangers.

They seem to be keeping purposefully quiet on who Tommy ends up with. There is an upcoming graphic novel though, so that might establish something in comics cannon.

Okay, I keep hearing about this animosity between Jason David Frank and Austin St. John. Can someone clue me in exactly what's that supposed to be about?

When they were filming the original show, Austin, 17 at the time they started filming, was quite the show-off. This really annoyed JDF, and constantly challenged him to whatever thing he thought (dunno, break all these blocks with a kick), to which Austin put excuses about why he couldn't do it.

That's it.

Years later, Austin admits that he was a jerk at the time and he would like to make amends, but JDF is still hung-up on the fact that Austin was acting like a 17yo.

It's funny, JDF was annoyed with him for being childish when he was teenager, but years later JDF is the one being childish for holding a grudge against a teenager.

Interesting. Certainly puts Jason's more arrogant attitude in Forever Red in a new light.

Thanks for the response.

There was a number of different stories that went around. JDF is one of the more prolific convention attendees and more vocal about it so his side of the story was told more. One I heard was that Austin St. John would talk about being a "two-stripe black belt," while JDF grew up in a martial arts community that had it structured as "second degree black belt." One struggle in the community is fighting against "McDojo's", basically schools that promise to award students based on participation and time spent while not actually demonstrating skill and discipline, some even assuring anyone would be a black belt in three years. And so that contributed to their conflict, as JDF was running his own school even before Power Rangers and felt like St. John was inflating his credentials.

But last year at the Phoenix Comic Con a man was apprehended trying to smuggle in weapons and claiming to be targeting JDF supposedly because of the feud (among other celebrities). JDF said afterwards that there is no feud, and earlier that year they attended the Power Rangers movie premiere together, which sounds like they just decided to bury it.

By all accounts JDF is very gracious and friendly towards fans but is notably Hot-Blooded and has clashed with a number of people over the years. A couple years ago he nearly got into a fight with Jean-Claude Van Damme at a convention after the latter brought in a camera crew entourage and tried challenging him.

So, Jason was played by the only member of the main cast who was actually a teenager at the time, and he was a bit of a tool? I guess Alpha really did manage to find one teenager with attitude after all.

It's Jirayia, meaning this is an adaptation of a Ninninger episode most thought they'd skip. For reference Jirayia is one of the metal heroes, kind of the third Toei tokusatsu franchise after Sentai and Rider, which also focuses on solo heroes. The most well-known are the space sheriffs, who are pretty much what the name implies. While they haven't had any recent series, they've had a few movies and there's a cross-over franchise called Space Squad which mostly uses Sentai characters and space sheriffs. VR Troopers and Beetleborgs used metal hero material in the same way PR uses Sentai. Jirayia turned up in Ninninger as he was a ninja hero, so it's odd that, judging by the episode description, they've basically turned him into an ersatz space sheriff. Go-Busters, which will become Beast Morphers, and Kyuranger, the previous Sentai, had cross-overs with Gavan, one of the space sheriffs, so they could do more like this if they wanted to.
