So they've got a new album coming out next month. Random Access Memories. A new promo just aired tonight during SNL that pretty much blew my mind. It's been on constant repeat ever since I found it on You Tube.

So, um, in short: GET HYPE, BITCHES.

This song is good, but it seems to be more of a Chic-based song (Nile Rodgers is there, after all) than a Daft 'Punk-ish' one.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this album.

They released the entirety of their new single!

I'm sorry I'm linking to a tumblr post instead of a youtube video, I wasn't able to find a version with this quality on youtube.

[up] I was a little skeptical when I saw the words "feat. Pharrell Williams", but I like this. Kinda getting back to the disco-ier moments of Discovery.

[up][up] Link's dead, but whatever it was, it wasn't real. There numerous "leaks" in the past few days. There has been no official word on a release date for the single, but it's not today.

The song has been confirmed to be about six minutes long, so that should immediately discredit most "full versions" currently out there.

Needs a new signature.

That was just the teasers edited together into one song.

[up] Yes. You can pre-order it from the official site.

Also the radio edit of Get Lucky is out on Amazon and Zune/Xbox Music. Disappointing. All the good guitar stuff isn't in this version and the new lyrics are more nonsensical than usual. Pharrell's performance is lacking in places. I suspect the album version will be much better.

So. Wasn't disco supposed to be dead?

But, yeah, new Daft Punk album? I'm up for that.

[1] apparently they choose the small country town of Wee Waa, NSW Australia for the album launch. Which has a population of just under 2000, sheep included.

Oh Daft Punk, you so crazy.

It is named Wee Waa. What else do you need?

So apparently if you pitch-shift "Get Lucky" a certain amount, it turns into a Michael Jackson song. Freaky, but cool.

I'm not familar with Daft Punk, but this might be of interest to you.

Just outside the Hot 100's top 10, Daft Punk notches its highest-ever rank, as "Get Lucky," featuring Pharrell Williams, launches at No. 20 with 113,000 downloads sold. The act had previously reached No. 61 with both 1997's "Around the World" and 2001's "One More Time." "Lucky" starts with just three days of sales, following its April 19 release, although its opening week sales still mark the duo's best frame.

I don't know how an electronic house duo can make a 70's funk disco tune, but I LOVE it.

Their music was sampled from Detroit and Baltimore disco in the first place; they're just going full circle.

[up][up]Of course they are so fanatically popular right now that they could release an whole album of this goat screaming and still be well received

The 70s vibe was still a good choice but.smile

It's not surprising that a house group is doing disco, tbh, house itself arose as out of disco and has been sampling and emulating disco records since its conception

yeah man lowercase
