Bringing back the Metropolitans name was apparently considered, but got some pushback from the league (given the Metropolitan Division).
Re-upping some links for the new page, about the decision process for the name and an analysis of the Kraken aesthetic (logo, jersey, etc.)
Well, that was...an anticlimactic void of nothing.
I seriously hope Lundqvist can join a contender next season.
Meanwhile Montreal is giving Pittsburg one hell of a fight and are one game away from sending them to an early vacation. Price is in the zone, the young players are fighting hard and most everyone is contributing. Maybe a long trip in the playoffs is possible!
Looking through the sports threads and seeing people's avatars makes me wonder: is there a lot of overlap between sports and anime fans?
No clue. I wouldn't have thought there was a correlation, but hey.
Also: Sigh, I know it's just a round robin for seeding purposes, but c'mon Bruins, get your skating legs under you, you were in such a good position before the break...
Meanwhile, the Flyers, also in the Round Robin for the Eastern Conference, defeated the Bruins in their first game, and are leading the Capitals 2-0 after two periods. Things are looking good for us.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever. One shot, one goal. Vancouver wins in OT to eliminate Minnesota.
Maybe the one most major upset of the pre-series, Montreal sends Pittsburgh on vacation. Whoda thunk when Covid ended the season that Montreal, of all teams, would be in the playoffs.
Last night, the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 to take the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They will play against the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs proper.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever. Two young teams with a lot to prove. This ought to be interesting!
So...the Rangers won the #1 pick? As a Rangers fan I'm glad, but I can already hear the cries of "R!GGD11".
I don't really think we need another winger in Lafreniere though - defense has been the bigger problem (Lundqvist could only do so much). Maybe a trade is in play here?

Apropos of nothing, the NHL season started again this week. I am very excited for Montreal this year, they made loads of big movements this off-season and have shown a lot of promise in their first two games.
lose 4-0 to the Islanders Thursday
win 5-0 over the Islanders yesterday
It's going to be one of those seasons isn't it.
And now the Rangers lost again. Like being trapped in a yo-yo.
Crazy stupid in battle. Crazy cupid on a nice date.Panarin is on personal leave following allegations from his old KHL coach he assaulted a woman in Latvia in 2011. The Rangers put out a statement where Panarin denies the accusations and claims it's political retaliation for Panarin expressing support for Navalny after he was arrested upon returning to Russia.
No idea what to make of it, tbh, and being a Rangers fan I feel as though I need to be extra cautious about forming my opinions on this matter.

WOOOOOOO!
ESPN to begin broadcasting the NHL again, and they're bringing back their iconic music. All we need now are Gary Thorne and Bill Clement back.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.NBCSN's impending demise seems like a spur for this move. Still, awesome that I can get more hockey easily now.
I think it's pretty remarkable that NBC's aired NHL games for over 15 years, especially since that deal started well into the cable era and the NHL had never had a deal that long on a major network in America before.
With the name change from the Fox Sports regional networks to Bally Sports Networks, I just want to ask this question to all the American tropers, note will you still watch it? I know a lot of the teams play on FS/Bally, & a lot of people were complaining about the scoreboard. For me, I don't have it, so I go old school & listen on the radio. What's your 2 cents?

"Remember, licking doorknobs is illegal on other planets!"-SpongebobToronto's descent to hell continues. They blow a 3-1 lead in the playoffs and lose to Montreal on game 7.
I'd feel sorry, but as I'm a Montreal fan, I am very happy tonight.
Toronto lost again ?
UrinatingTree must be having a conniption fit.
EDIT: Called it.

In the first match between the Jets and the Canadians, Sheifele hit Evans straight in the head after he scored a goal in the empty net. Evans stayed on the ice with convulsions for several minutes, though when he was taken out on a stretcher, he was able to make a thumbs up to show he was still awake.
That was straight up unforgiveable. A vicious cheap shot. I hope the League suspends him for at least the rest of the series against Montreal.

Verdict is down. According to TSN , Scheifele is suspended for four games for his gesture.
Montreal wins against the Jets and completes the sweep! Despite two very bad goals by Price, the team remained strong, went to OT, and won there! Now they're on a break to heal and rest up and will be up against Vegas or Colorado in the semi-finals.
Would have liked Metropolitans, but maybe they couldn't get the rights to it.
