I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)

Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).

If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.

Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

Even in a whole new world, the Elves and Dwarves can't stop fighting.

Well eight new worlds, and at least two sub-dimensions.

The Idoneth as a whole have a look that reminds me a lot of Planetary Romance in the style of Edgar Rice Burroughs, with those exotic ornate designs. If I were to buy this box, then I'd use the Idoneth to convert some more primeval and savage-looking elves, as if they hailed from the Hyborian Age and were Abusive Precursors to the humanity of Conan's time.

I am very fond of the late 90's box of plastic Orc Boyz, especially as these were among my very first purchases when I began my miniature-hobby. One of the things I liked about that box were the interchangeable pieces between the WHFB boyz and the ones for 40K. As much as I like the orcs and orks of that time, the minis are showing their age. Now that the 40K orks are getting a new box of plastic boyz, I'd be really glad if GW would make a box of new Orc/Orruk Boyz for AOS. Most likely this would not have bits interchangeable with the 40K one, but it would be nice if they did. smile

Unfortunately there aren't any generic Boyz in AoS at the moment, just the Ironjawz, Kruleboyz and Bonesplitterz so that is unlikely. Warhammer: Old World might be a better bet but who knows when that is going to get released.

Seems likely. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, for fear of The Old World being a disappointment. But I would really want to see some older designs get touched-up and give the classics improved sculpts, where necessary.

Cross Posting from the 40K thread: Today we have a 2020 Sneak Peak

For Age of Sigmar there was a Sister of Slaughter and what looked like some sort of wizard of sorcerer so I am guessing Acolytes of Tzeentch.

Double post for the Store Anniversary Model for AoS: Gutrippa Boss Haggok. I like the design of his helmet.

[up]Yeah, it looks almost like a Samurai-helmet. He also reminds me of Angus McBride's paintings of orcs in Middle-Earth Role Playing, which applies to a lot of the Kruleboyz.

[up]The interesting thing about it looking like a samurai helmet is that the lore says that they get the things they cannot make themselves from Chaos corrupted duardin (through the hobgrots). Japanese themed Chaos duardin could be cool.

IIRC there was many years ago an article on the old GW website, for converting alternate Chaos Dwarfs. Rather than make them look Mesopotamian, the author made Norscan Chaos Dwarfs by combining the old plastic Dwarf Warriors with heads from the late-90's Chaos Warriors, the ones with orc-like proportions. The end result was pretty nice and I might trying something similar. I do have some dwarfs from Blood Bowl, a few pieces for Mantic dwarves, as well as some ancient metal Dwarf Miners and some sprues of Squats from the 1st edition of 40K.

Today on Warhammer Community: Blood Bowl Goblin Star Players

1. Fungus the Loon. Some nice movement there.

2. Bomber Dribblesnot. Love the mask.

Fungus would make for an excellent Night Goblin Fanatic, while Bomber reminds me of the Goblin Sappers from Warcraft II and III. grin

Fungus is a nice update of his old model. I do wish they had kept Dribblesnot's hat though.

Recently I've been reading up on the what-if plans on the renegade Chaos god Malal/Malice, before the ownership kerfuffle with Alan Grant and John Wagner. There were some interesting concept designs for his demons, which looked more Giger-ish than most monsters in Warhammer at the time. I also like Malal's appearance in the Kaleb Daark comic and 1st ed Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, where he looks like an interesting blend of an animalistic Khorne demon and a Skaven Verminlord. I've seen some cool attempts at turning the Malal demon concept art into miniatures, while I'd like to make a miniature of Malal himself in the comic. He looks like a wingless Bloodthisrster, crossed with a humanoid Flesh Hound and a Verminlord, which I feel would make for a cool miniature. Maybe for a unique named demon minion or a Daemon Prince?

Well Be'lakor seems pretty much taking up the role Malal left these days.

Ever since I read that Malal's sacred number is 11 (the sacred number of Nuffle, the God of Blood Bowl), I have been thinking about painting up my planned Chaos Chosen Blood Bowl team in his colours of white and black and calling them the Malalcontents.

Those new models look really cool. The Scriptor Mortis looks a bit like an undead demon of Tzeentch, while the Craventhrone Guard has a nice Dark Age influence to their gear. I really like the High Gladiatrix, for not being too Stripperiffic and for looking dynamic even in a still pose. She also looks a bit post-apunkalyptic with her gear, so the model could be used in 40K or some other sci-fi game.

If/when they redo the Ogor Mawtribes Yhetees, I hope they look like this one.

Sweet! The design for the official Yhetees has always been disappointing for me, so I've preferred to swap them for more generic Yeti miniatures. But this guy is amazing! With that gear and facial design he looks like an orc from Warcraft, except covered in fur. He's good for WHFB or AOS just like that, but it is easy to make that kneepad look less like a football helmet.

Double-post: Oof, there will be another price-hike soon for the majority of GW products. Sadly, Blood Bowl teams seem to be hit especially hard, which is unfortunate due to so many being the best WHFB-related models made in years.

SebastianGray Since: Apr, 2011
#1550: Feb 10th 2022 at 8:46:12 AM

It's understandable due to the record inflation in the UK and around the world. As for BB being hit hard, it was once explained to me by a GW employee that the company prices things that it expects the "average" customer (i.e. not compulsive collectors such as myself, or metagamers) to by once higher then things they expect people to by multiple versions of, and as the Blood Bowl team sets are pretty much the minimum models most people will need to play the team, they will only buy it once.
