Dangan Ronpa is getting an anime, everything else matters not.

(That Gen show looks pretty cool, though, reminds me of King Gainer and Xabungle with the ship and setting.)

It looks way too upbeat for a Urobutcher show.

Which probably means it'll be super grimdark.

So, did Hata finally get past his fear of money and success and decide to make an anime for the End of the World arc?

Just looked at the preview for Sunrise's Valvrave: The Liberator.

Link: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-12-23/sunrise-valvrave-the-liberator-mecha-anime-jf-promo-streamed

Summary: The story is set in an era when 70% of the human race lives in space due to the development of space cities. Between two major powers — the Dorushia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — there is a small neutral nation called Jiōru that has prospered economically. The protagonist Haruto, a high school student who lives in Jiōru, encounters the mysterious "forbidden" humanoid weapon Valvrave when the Dorushia army invades.

A new Real Robot show from the studio that brought us Gundam and the director of Natsuyuki Rendezvous? I'm sol... wait, is Ichiro Okouchi the writer?! OH GOD, NOOOOOOOOOO!!! (sobs quietly in the corner)

Except it's Goro Taniguchi that caused Code Geass and Guilty Crown to suck.

Code Geass was fun. Whole lot of flaws, but fun.

As far as I can find, Gorou Taniguchi has nothing to do with Guilty Crown.

Code Geass was fun. It was stupid at times but it did pretty well with its premise.

Well, it's one of my favourite series, but I don't know if the flawed bits are so easily attributed to any one thing. Which you could then just take out of the equation.

What if all the writers brought both good and bad to the table?

In any case, even staff who have worked on much worse things probable deserve a second chance especially working with a different combination of people.

Majestic Prince confirmed for spring

No less than three mecha series lined up now, so Thorn can stop complaining until they start turning out to suck

Majestic Prince has Hisashi Hirai character designs. Yeah... no.

What's precedent ever done for us?

He's most well-known for the character designs for Gundam SEED and Destiny. Suffers heavily from Only Six Faces.

You can find the characters here and judge for yourself. I, for one, am only likely to pick up the series if I hear they spend most of the time with the faces hidden

An image that explains everything you need to know about Hirai's artstyle.

The problem isn't just that he uses Only Six Faces, but that they aren't even especially appealing or expressive faces. Everything just blends together into an amorphous bug-eyed, snub-nosed mess with a permanent expression of vaguely interested Dull Surprise.

It looks like he just used a character generator.
