I am positively sure that Common Fandom Mistakes already exists ... might be worth checking in Lost And Found.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, I did do a pretty thorough check of it myself before we even had this TRS, but I'll ask it on Lost And Found just to be sure.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. That's Common Fan Fallacies, which is actually an index.
Nope, that's not what I'm looking for. However, the presence of that title warrants a better name for a page that lists common mistakes.
Maybe, Common Newcomer Mistakes? The mistakes listed on Gannon-Banned are most often made by newcomers.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. It's not what you were looking for, but I strongly suspect it's what Septimus Heap was thinking of. I certainly hope there isn't yet another variation on the "things people complain about online" pseudotrope out there, at least.
I do see some overlap, but a lot of them aren't really the same as the kind of mistakes newcomers make.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. What I mean is that the name is almost identical to Common Fandom Mistakes, which is why I think it's what Septimus Heap was thinking of.

Expanding that index to an Audience Reaction would require another thread and a YKTTW.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm absolutely not in favor of that, as I implied by saying we have enough of these things already. All I've been trying to do was respond to this post in response to the "YKTTW Common Fandom Mistakes" proposal:
Common Fan Fallacies has nothing to do with this trope family, but does sound a lot like Common Fandom Mistakes. I think it's fine as it is, and we should be focused on trying to trim these pages rather than create another.
If you mean what I think you do, I guess zapping those examples on Gannon-Banned from complete existence would be a good course of action, since the trope is solely about the backdraft itself, and there's no good name for the examples that elicit that reaction.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Alright, a lot of suggestions for action have been floated and discussed.
- Do nothing.
- Move to Trivia. This isn't a trope.
- Rename Gannon-Banned.
- Merge with Nerd Rage. Name to be determined in another crowner.
- Clarify the description. (Possible wording written here.)
- Clean out hyperbole, complaining, Fan Myopia, natter, and misuse. Put in a warning comment.
- Delete all out-of-universe examples.
- Delete all examples. Keep the page as a definition of the phenomenon.
- Delete all examples, merge with Internet Backdraft.
- Remove the examples to another, new page. Create the new page through YKTTW.
- Cut the whole page. The examples aren't worth saving, and the page is useless without them.
Some of the above aren't mutually exclusive.
I think it's time to put these in a Page Action crowner. Shall I do that?

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I am not sure that all of these options are sensible. To wit, merging Nerd Rage and Gannon-Banned to a new name and cutting examples is probably the best option here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's definitely my top option.
But unless there was already consensus not to do one of those, it should be an option. They can always be voted down.
Admittedly, there are 11 things.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. Are you going to get to doing that crowner?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Options #2, #10 and #11 seem pretty useless to me - an Audience Reaction is not Trivia, we'd need to know what to do with 10, too many inbounds (respectively).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAlright, crowner is here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php/PageAction/GannonBanned
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Hollered to hook your crowner.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Bumping for votes.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Am I correctly in assuming that if the options with a passing ratio remain unchanged, the page will be merged with Nerd Rage and lose its examples?
Alt names crowner is here. Will need far more name suggestions, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI added the old names, "Gannon Banned" and "Nerd Rage", to the crowner. We have not decided whether to use one of the old names, or a new name.
I don't like "Gannon Banned" or "shibboleth". I suppose that "Nerd Rage" or "Frequent Fandom Fury" might work. Does anyone have a better name? If so, add it to the crowner.
None of the name suggestions seem very appealing, but the fact that the examples aren't going to be cut - due to a crowner that was badly designed in the first place anyway - has basically destroyed any interest I have in this thread.
See you again in six months.
Crown Description:
What should be done with the page Gannon Banned? Note that these are not all mutually exclusive. All winning actions that are compatible with the top winner can be done together.
The name and description are both nonindicative of the example list.
I propose that I make a YKTTW solely about Common Fandom Mistakes (probably needs a better name than that, though), so that the example list still has use (though with heavy editing). The title and description should stay at Gannon-Banned so that it's solely about the backdraft for making a mistake (because it's just a subtrope of Internet Backdraft, just about someone making a mistake).
