In Marvel, it wouldn't do much good these days were most heroes have public identities.

September solicts are out. I'll be picking up Strikeforce and Agents of Wakanda in terms of ongoings, but that's about it.

Preview of Avengers #20. I really hope this is leading to the return of Regular She-Hulk, as opposed to She-Hulk Smash! (Although it does look like Aaron is leaning into the whole "Jennifer Walters has a similar type of personality disorder to her cousin Bruce" hence all the other She-Hulks in the jury.)

I would have liked to see the rest of that She Hulk fight.

Just saying.

[up][up]This sounds like the complaints comic fans and lapsed comic fans have about the current incarnation.

Knowing the modern comic book writer, this won’t end well for the classic version.

Random fan-cast shower-thought: could you see Jesse Eisenberg as Arcade? He has that whole quality of slimy showmanship in many of his roles. Also, his Author, while infamously looking nothing like Luthor, does look... uncannily like Arena-era Arcade.

You know, yeah, Eisenberg would be a perfect Arcade. And yeah, what is social media if not next level Murderworld.

I could definitely see that. Or else, Michael Cera. Thinking of him in part because Captain Marvel was part of the team that foiled his most recent scheme in the "Hunted" Spider-Man arc, so it would be funny to imagine him as an evil Scott Pilgrim being confronted by Envy Adams.

Also, and I'm not sure if this is because of their similar appearance or because of a meta joke, but Arrested Development used George Michael (Cera) as a Zuckerberg parallel as well, so there's precedent for him too.

Edit- Just in case for clarity, Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera are famously dopplegangers. Eisnerger's Lex Luthor was presented as an evil(er) Mark Zuckerberg and he also played Zuckerberg in The Social Network. Probably in part because Cera looks like Eisenberg, Arrested Development introduced a parody of Zuckerberg's background to the story of Cera's character, but it presumably had nothing to do with Eisenberg's Luthor, which I think was later.

Basically, there's a whole lot of Actor Allusion going on with both of them already.

[up]Reading your first paragraph, I thought for a minute that Captain Marvel had foiled Michael Cera’s latest scheme.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

Well, I heard that the last season of Arrested Development was pretty bad and there likely won't be any more. So, I guess she succeeded.

War of the Realms has ended... Thor has reforjed Mjolnir, and he can lift it again (it seems that the trick about being worthy is not caring about being worthy). Loki, who was swallowed alive by Laufey, gets out in full Old-Man-Logan style. Ultimate Mjolnir breaks for good, but before doing so it merges with Jane. Malekith was dismembered by his own dogs. Malekith also used dark magic on Venom's symbiote, which healed it, and is no longer brain-dead. With Laufey dead, Loki is the new king of Frost Giants. Time-displaced young Thor, summoned to aid in the battle, discovered something that did not exist in Midgard during the Viking age: craft beer! And Odin steps down from ruling Asgard: all hail all-father Thor! Oh, and Superior Spider-Man left behind his "The die is cast!" catch phrase: now, with his West Coast Avengers lackeys, his new catchphrase is "Avengers, Assemble!"

[up]x3 Oh sure when I suggested a play adaptation of The Phoenix Saga and Judas Contract, everybody at my high school looked at me like an asshole for wanting to bring to life classic comic book stories.

Now that its “cool” to like comics, all of a sudden these high school drama productions are interested in doing stage plays of this.

Fucking preppies. This is why I am asocial.

Having read the issue, i wouldn't get you hopes up, since she goes on to say that she prefers her new form because no one sexually harasses her anymore and she loves her how powerful she is now.

She also says she hated it whenever Bruce would say how envious he was of her and how in control she was. Which is weird, because you'd think she'd understand why he'd say that.

Wait who sexually harasses a Hulk?

A suicidal person or a person without survival instincts?

Not understanding the characters you write is du rigeur for A-list comic creators these days.

Once Al Ewing becomes popular all his talent will leave him and he'll start writing decompressed six issue arcs.

There was the time she was harassed by paparazzi when she was with the F4,which is one of the examples she uses in this issue.

Honestly, i think the rumor that he wanted Banner on the team original is probably true.

[up]

I thought he already was popular?

So, she wants to trash an entire block every time a waiter messes up her order? Does a writer need a puppet show on why being like the usual Hulk sucks?

Wake me up at your own risk.

I knew it, I freaking knew it. I knew it was gonna be a Take That, Audience! diatribe about how anyone who liked old She Hulk is just a pervert or something equally ridiculous.

In the 80’s there was an issue about a sleazeball who took photos of Jennifer without her consent. You know what she did? She threatened to destroy his office. It worked. He valued self preservation over a quick buck.

And they wonder why their sales are so low.

They mentioned the paparazzi in the issue, but as a way to point out that Banner never has to deal with that.

[up] Covers lie and they never said when that issue is set anyway.
