Even worse, the Indian government itself is against it. But that is also not a surprise given who is running it now.

There's a big difference between calling yourself an MRA and actually caring about men's welfare.

I stand by what I said about feminists who care about equal rights caring more about male welfare than misogynists do in general.

Naturally. MRAs care about men's rights in the same way that people who're against BLM actually believe all lives matter, and anti-abortion extremists actually care about children.

I'm mostly surprised they are still doing those things... on top of being creepy and sexist, it's also really tacky. I remember when those sites existed for the Olsen Twins and Britney Spears. It was gross then, and I can't believe they haven't come up with anything better to do.

Why did you expect them to stop? The sex drive isn't going to magically go away, you know.

And creeps usually don't stop being creeps.

It's about power dynamics. They aren't acting this way because they can't keep themselves in check, they're looking for someone to hurt, and society allows some people to hurt others this way.

This seems too reductive, obviously a desire for power over the target is involved but how can we be for certain that there is no sexual element? Or that none of them are sexually motivated and indifferent to power dynamics?

I'm not making a moral argument here, "I was horny and didn't care about their feelings" is just as monstrous. I'm just skeptical the involved motivations are so uniform.

My point was less "this is the only explanation", and more "this is motivated by a choice, not uncontrollable urges that they can't be held accountable for (and which fall into biological essentialism, which you can understand I'm kinda weary of)".

Oh, yeah in that case I totally agree. Sexual desires are autonomous but as free-willed agents we choose how we express them.

There is no excuse for predatory behavior like that, it's just a testament to how sick their mindsets are.

Well, my hunch has always been that the SVU line is an instance of people confusing the means with the end [how do you force someone to do something against their will if you don't have power over them?] but that's not quite my area of expertise. However, here we are talking about perverts and oglers and not rapists - people who have no contact or interaction with their targets. So I wouldn't think that power dynamics are relevant here.

When it come to rapist, the whys are hard to pin down and usually depend a lot: some men are resenfull and want to discarge their rage on someone(more often prostitutes), some other are sadistic who want to hurt someone, many belive rape myths(no if they enjoy, asking for it, you know the whole dribble) and some just dont plain understand consent properly, part for ignorance, part for consent ideas evovling to fast for some.

And tackiness....yeah I can get the idea but after seen how the internet reacto the fappeing, that idea die very quickly.

Ok. The mods clearly think I took it too far. Perhaps my choice of words was a little excessive. I just find the fact that people wait like vultures to fap to current children until they are adults to be really gross and creepy.

Power dynamics still apply to online interactions. Sure more direct relationships like family, boss/employee, student/teacher, etc don't apply to one sided interactions like this. But membership of marginalised groups and forces that act against them still do.

The kind of person who wants to lash out online is going to find it far easier to do so against women and minorities.

I am gonna wait for a verdict to make any final judgement call, but I stand by my belief that I wouldn't put abominable behaviour past any celebrity. Not Johnny. Not Amber.

It's hard to treat celebrities like people when they seem to treat others like subhumans.

I honestly don't care who wins as long as the truth comes out and justice is served.

Seriously, it's a toxic celebrity marriage, not a class action against rapists.
