I mean, fair warning based on the previews so far, the Corpo background still ends with you on roughly the same socio-economic level as the others due to getting betrayed by your manager and fired by Arasaka. Like, the backstory prologues are very distinct and different, but the impression I’ve gotten is that they all railroad you into the same opening questline and situation of “trying to make it big by pulling a job for Dexter DeShawn”.
Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it looks they’re handling it really well; just, yknow, don’t let your hype get out of control to the point that you’re expecting features and story paths that never existed.

Oh, of course. I know it all railroads in. But its the nature of the flavor. Starting as a Corpo who falls from grace, confronts the system they were apart of, and tears it all down is interesting to me, even if not all of the story will mention every five lines that that *is* the story. It's the story because that's my lens as reader and audience.
It seems like it's DA Origins style where it's whichever situation Jackie ends up in that decides the player character; Jackie interupts the Corpo job resulting in you getting caught and thrown out of the corperatocricy, and doing hustles with Jackie just to make ends meet and get a life going. Nomad I believe involves you meeting Jackie while trying to escape the Badlands (the Sheriff?) into Night City. And Street Kid might have you already knowing Jackie and doing jobs with him straight out of the gate; one of those jobs presumably being the 'origin' level.
Its the Dragon Age: Origins style of gaming.
Dexter is Duncan.

Also, I reckon Jackie is Duncan, given what happens... or SEEMS to happen from the trailers.
First third is the Life paths and how they thread together, a bit more backstory on some characters.
Second third is how they made Samurai the band in the game, with the real life vocalist for Johnny's singing voice (PLUS some video from what looks like Johnny's perspective! So some braindancing from HIS time in history maybe
Last third shows off more guns and styles... and HOLY SHIT there is some insane looking stuff there.

Question, after the weapons trailer from yesterday, have they specified the difference between tech weapons and power weapons?
"Can't make an omelette without breaking some children." -BurI think tech are more electromagnetic based and can punch through surfaces, power are old school gunpowder based and can bounce of surfaces.
That's explicity covered in the interview after the trailer in the Night City Wire video. Tech: EM-based weapons that can be charged for massive penetrating power, Smart: Micro-missile based homing rounds, Power: "Normal" guns but the rounds can be ricocheted off surfaces for trick shots.
Upon further thought there needs to be some sort of achievement for killing enemies by richocheting shots and hitting them in the ass.
I spotted a very Polish easter egg in the weapons video: when the smart sniper rifle is showcased, the neon on the building in the background says "Corp-Bud". A lot of construction companies in Poland have names ending in "-Bud" (short from "Budowa" - "Construction").

Gives me some strong Fatty Boom Boom vibes
Night City Wire episode 3 just dropped:
Two trailers that debuted with the episode, one focusing on the game's non-corporate factions and one more general trailer focused on the "vibe" of Night City:

I really enjoyed those trailers.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Man there are a lot of enemy factions.
Voodoo Boys look pretty cool.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Someone noticed the resemblance between one of the cops that arrests you in the Street Kid prologue and Gaunter O'Dimm.
You know what would be funny? If every prologue contained a minor antagonist looking like Mr Mirror as an easter egg.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisAlso, the website linked to in the "Postcards from Night City" is real. It's a short, very Grand Theft Auto V guide to the game world (although not as in-your-face satirical as GTA V websites).
Also, it appears it's election season in Night City.

Alright, I'm putting out a general call to action for anyone following the game's marketing and/or this thread:
As you all probably know, the main page for Cyberpunk 2077 was locked some time ago for rampant speculative troping issues. The characters page, however, was not. As it currently exists, it is an absolute mess of ZCEs and uncited / speculative entries from over-excited fans of the game who don't understand site policy about troping unreleased works, and who have been edit-warring with anyone who tries to enforce said rules, usually because said people aren't following the marketing for the game and thus have little option but to comment out or delete the offending entries.
This has gotten to the point that an ATT thread has been created with a general consensus coming about that unless someone familiar with the marketing steps forward to help renovate the page with some properly cited, policy-compliant changes to the page's entries, the page is going to be purged of pretty much everything not currently cited properly and locked until release.
Now I can say from personal knowledge that a lot of what's on the page is confirmed by marketing/previews and thus tropable, but isn't properly cited. I'm planning to get to work on some of it, but the issue is so extensive that this is likely going to need extra hands working on it. I'm planning to get started on this either tomorrow or the next day; any help would be appreciated. If you need help on how to properly cite things or be compliant with policy, here's some relevant links:

It's just a normal 20-minutes-or-until-the-current-editor-finishes lock.
, That, plus there seems to be a glitch with the edit button on all pages where it’ll sometimes say it’s locked when it really isn’t. Gave that to me a few minutes ago, lol
Edited by Dirtyblue929 on Sep 29th 2020 at 9:42:45 AM
Yeah, I get that a lot too. Rule of thumb, whenever you see the lock icon on the edit button, just click it anyway. It'll either let you edit after all (in which case it was just a glitch) or it will give you a pop-up letting you know whether it's "really" locked or just a case of someone else currently editing it.
I'd be happy to help. I also have access to the World of Cyberpunk book and can probably check information against that if need be.
If a lot of this stuff is coming from the World of Cyberpunk book, would it be worth making a work page for the book itself? That way you wouldn't have to cite every entry, since that's a work that's already been released and it can be reasonably assumed that a trope that appears on the book's work page is from the book.
I like how Nomad can give you a mysterious stranger vibe once they arrive in the city. Like a Man with No Name.
Corporate though theres a fun in being more inline with the bad guys & nobility since most products only have you start out at the pedestrian levels.
