Welcome To The NHK is a dark manga, but I don't think it's porno, just a really cynical view of the 'otaku'. I watched the whole anime and read the whole manga, but didn't read the novel.

I'm reading through a couple chapters right now and from what I've seen so far, it's neither pornographic nor pro-pedophilic, so as far as I'm concerned, it's okay.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I think that's the only time it actually talks about pedophilia. While there is some disturbing stuff later on, I don't remember any sex, explicit or otherwise.
Also, the anime changes that scene into researching high school girls to make a normal porn game instead.

Full Battle ModeI've read the manga, and I can concur with the "cynical look at the otaku" and "not pedo" thing. And there is practically no sex, far as I remember. In fact, that "porn game" thing is treated in-universe by said characters as more of a motivation to actually do something with their lives instead of a reason to do anything sexual.
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)I would just like to point out that it's licensed and US-released by Tokyopop and Funimation.
Now using Trivialis handle.I think everything but the novel was released in the US. And I think the message of the show/book is that otaku should get jobs, face life, and stop daydreaming about H-games as a substitute for talking to the women in their lives.
Okay, based on my impressions from reading the first two chapters, doing some research, and Komodin's opinion, I'm voting to keep it.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. The novel was released in the U.S. by Tokyopop.
I've only read a couple of volumes and I'd say it's a legit work worth keeping.
I've seen the anime and it was fine.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Back when ADV used to exist, they had a program that sent out DV Ds with previews of newly localized anime for anime clubs to show. Welcome to the NHK was definitely something that they sent out, so they apparently had no problem with sending the first two episodes to high schools without doing much more than blurring out some very brief nudity.
Looks like this one is done.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
So I read the first two chapters of the Welcome To The NHK manga. The second chapter is where the main character is collecting "data" for making a lolicon porn game. It's definitely disturbing, but it's consistently portrayed in a negative and perverted light.
Is there anything worse later on? I'm not all that interested in the story and I really dislike the art style, so I'd rather not read the entire 8 volumes.
Discar, Komodin, and Catalogue - have you guys looked at this? What do you think?
