Martello: The problem I have with that banner is that it isn't on every cut page that's squick. It doesn't deserve to be there and not on the page for Rectified Anonymity or anything else purged for being Brain Bleach worthy.

It should only be used on things that have actually been reviewed and confirmed to be against policy. Not things like Lolita that have a chance to return. Putting it on pages like that is just misleading.

There's a difference between "it is possible to find child porn on the internet" and "let's include a catalog of child porn on our website". Just because something exists doesn't mean TV Tropes needs to actively support it. Sorry to hear that deciding not to pander to pedophiles has made this site lose its appeal to you.

It's just that we all have different opinions of what child porn is. Really. To me, child porn is full of loving scenes/descriptions of child molestation. Others may be like "13 year olds in a 'sexy' pose?! kill it!"*

Because being attracted to kids means you want to rape them by definition, since kids aren't old enough to understand and be able to consent. It also means you're incredibly broken as a person. What would that have to do with pedophilia? Such things would not involve sexual relationships with said adult, just familial as you stated.

Exactly. Most pedophiles can acknowledge that fact and thus try to suppress such feelings and see shrinks about it. They don't masturbate to sexualized images of children because they know that is wrong.

If we are taking the "As long as you don't actually rape children, pedophilia is okay" argument seriously - which we shouldn't, because that's horrible and merely typing that made me feel like a worse person - consider this:

1) Creating a community where pedophilia is treated as okay makes it easier for more people to become pedophiles. Most people would never even consider children a sexual target for reasons I should hope are beyond obvious - but if they come to a "family-friendly" site like TV Tropes, get wrapped up in the community, and everyone chats about pedophilia openly like it's a totally okay thing, posts sexualized fanart of underage characters, and encourages them to watch "lolicon" pedoshit like Sexy Elementary Schoolers No Jikan, then that's another thing entirely. And the more "normal" you pretend it is, the more of them are likely to become "chi-mo"s (because giving it a cute name makes it acceptable).

2) Most of your Totally Innocent Ordinary Pedophiles seem to mention "Oh, but I wouldn't actually fuck a kid" as an afterthought - I remember seeing a post by someone saying they would totally date a third-grader but then hastily say they wouldn't actually have sex with them. Why should we believe these pedophiles actually draw the line there?

3) Pedophile material is often used in grooming children to make it easier for pedophiles to rape them.

4) By creating a haven for pedophiles, you drive away countless normal people who don't want to associate with this creepy messed-up trash.

5) CHILDREN CAN'T CONSENT DEAR GOD WHY ARE WE EVEN DISCUSSING THIS
